  • One player's trinket is another player's trophy

I always thought of trinkets like Carrot on a Stick and the Chained Essence of Eranikus as bag-space wasters rather than trophies, but 35 Yards Out makes an excellent case for them as memorable trinkets. I do agree with the Mark of the Chosen and the Hypnotist's Watch (and I've even gotten the Watch to drop aggro for me) -- there are some trinkets and items you come across in your travels that might be trash to everyone else, but are the rarest of possessions for you and your character. The Ravager is probably my biggest personal trophy -- everyone else told me that the proc was trouble (and in fact, I did have to switch out of it in instances to avoid breaking CC, though that may have changed since I last used it), but I just loved the idea of spinning around with a giant axe so much that I just had to have it. And longtime readers will know of my fascination with the Tier 0 Shaman shoulders -- most people aren't big fans, but for some reason, I love them. It's true -- one player's vendor trash in game is another player's treasured dream loot. What exactly is it that makes us pine for a certain item -- certainly class and playstyle have something to do with it, but it seems like Blizzard makes these items so wild and varied that no matter what you find out there, something will definitely appeal to you more than other players.[Via Mania]

PS3 Fanboy has received a pair of purported images that showcases more views of the PlayStation 3 profile system included in the upcoming firmware v2.40 update. The image above is an alleged glimpse at what another player's "card" will look like when you view it. A second image claims to feature the "third page" of your own profile, which includes a basic "About Me" field. Check out PS3 Fanboy for the full scoop. Gallery: Possible PS3 profile screens

PS3 Fanboy got a handful of tips this evening, purportedly sharing some screens of the PS3's long-promised "trophy" system, the console's would-be Gamerscore equivalent. From the looks of these screens – which have a couple things going for them: they're not blurry and that Clank avatar is real – the trophy system includes something that strongly resembles a Gamercard, including total number of trophies gathered along with a "Level" ostensibly gathered by collecting trophies of varying values. PS3 Fanboy has a couple more pics, along with some extra rumors regarding the console's in-game XMB ("some things will require you to leave the game"), but we're guessing we won't know anything for sure until E3 rolls around next month. What say ye, internet detectives?

  • Both Resistance games to get Home and trophy support

Ted Price recently divulged to Eurogamer in a live text interview that both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will be receiving Home and trophy support. We've known for awhile now that the first Resistance will be getting the Home treatment, but now it's great to hear confirmation for the second title. However, with Home still light years away, it's really difficult to truly be excited for this. Trophies, on the other hand, are a whole other story.Rumors about trophy support in the upcoming firmware 2.40 update, and footage of BioShock with a trophy icon all give the impression that this hotly anticipated feature will indeed be coming soon. Don't forget that there are a whole list of games recently stated to support trophies as well, and, well, we speculate that trophies will be available by the time Resistance 2 hits this Fall.

More rumors regarding the long-awaiting, promised in-game XMB for the PlayStation 3. A member of the Max Console forums has posted a handful of images and videos what is reportedly the XMB working during BioShock, as well as trophies for the game. We've embedded one of the videos after the break. While certainly more convincing than some of the mockups we've seen (think: MS paint), we still remain skeptical.

  • /silly: Anything else would be uncivilized

"Ah, there you are. Caught me in the midst of an epic tome, I must say. Please, do have a seat by the fire, and welcome... to Blade Masterpiece Theater. Zug zug, good chap."This week's dose of silly is a nice one panel sight gag that can be considered anything but high brow humor. I am fairly happy with how the shading came out on this one - once again I seem to be in good graces with the patron saint of Corel Painter, and I hope that particular buff doesn't fade any time soon. As always, I am constantly experimenting with the process I use to create these comics. In this particular instance, I left the sketch mostly intact, skipped the inking phase and went straight to coloring. The final results are less "clean" but more pleasing to the eye, I think. More experiments to follow in the coming weeks, I assure you.

  • Dojo update: Taking a look at trophies

Today's dojo update deals with the game's trophies. The update focuses on all of the things users can do with their trophies, including some of the information each one provides, as well as the ability to group and organize them however one wishes. It's nothing really too exciting, but for those completionists (see: us), it means a lot of collecting is coming our way in December.%Gallery-6869%%Gallery-3347%
