iPad Air coming to US Cellular and regional carriers starting November 8th
Apple's plan to launch the iPad Air with cellular data support for T-Mobile was apparently just the start of a larger strategy. US Cellular has announced that it will offer the featherweight tablet on November 8th, while regional carriers like Bluegrass Cellular, C Spire and GCI say that they'll stock the device in the "coming weeks." Of the bunch, only US Cellular has mentioned that it will also sell the iPad mini with Retina display; that's not surprising, though, when Apple hasn't even picked a release date for its own stores. It's doubtful that the new cellular iPad providers will make a big impact on Cupertino's bottom line, but the company clearly wants to leave no network uncovered.
Moto X price drops to $100 at Moto Maker, Sprint and US Cellular
Many have griped about the Moto X's $200 on-contract price, which is a lot to pay for hardware that's frequently considered mid-range. Motorola must have heard that grousing, as the price of its 16GB Android flagship has dropped to $100 for both AT&T's Moto Maker variant as well as the plainer Sprint and US Cellular versions. AT&T's customized 32GB phone is also cheaper at $150. The regular 16GB AT&T and Verizon editions still sell through the carriers for $200, although it's possible to pick up either of them for $100 at third-party stores like Amazon. While the discounts won't sway those who insist on high-end hardware, they could easily tip the balance for anyone who was holding out for a better deal.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini coming to four US carriers in November
Americans who've wanted Samsung's Galaxy S4 Mini no longer have to find an importer -- the company now says that its mid-range smartphone will reach AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular and Verizon in November. The 4.3-inch handset will largely go unchanged for its stateside debut, although Samsung is doubling the built-in storage to a much healthier 16GB. Galaxy Gear compatibility should come shortly after launch, the phone maker says. The GS4 Mini likely won't generate as much US interest as its full-size sibling, but it's hard to object to having a wider selection of compact smartphones.
US Cellular finally gets the iPhone 5c and 5s on November 8th
If you've loyally stuck by US Cellular in the hopes of getting an iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s, your patience is about to pay off. On November 8th, the regional carrier will start selling Apple's incredibly popular new phones. The company didn't say for how much or what colors will be available, but we've reached out to the carrier and will of course let you know if we hear back.
iPhone 5s and 5c set to hit US Cellular on November 8
US Cellular announced today that it will begin selling both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c in stores beginning on November 8. A regional carrier based out of Chicago, US Cellular is the fifth-largest carrier in the US and serves many more subscribers than some of the other regional carriers that already carry the iPhone. Interestingly enough, US Cellular had a chance to carry the iPhone as far back as 2011, but decided not to due to economic reasons. In short, US Cellular at the time wasn't particularly enamored with Apple's contract terms. FierceWireless reported on the matter back in 2011: U.S. Cellular turned down Apple's iPhone because it did not make sense for the company economically, CEO Mary Dillon said on the company's third-quarter earnings conference call. Dillon said that the carrier had the opportunity to sell the iPhone but that Apple's "terms were unacceptable from a risk and profitability standpoint." Dillon added that the potential strain on the company's network was not a factor in the decision, and that U.S. Cellular remains open to carrying the iPhone in the future. I suppose you can only hold out so long, something that a number of carriers around the globe have also discovered in the face of high subscriber churn. As for iPhone pricing and contract terms, those details have yet to be disclosed. A US Cellular spokesperson indicated via email that users should check the US Cellular website for more information. At the time of this writing, there is no mention of the iPhone on the US Cellular website but we'll keep you updated when more information begins to roll in.
US Cellular officially jumps on the shared data bandwagon
Everyone else is doing it, so why can't US Cellular. The smaller carrier is getting into the shared data plan field with a bevy of options for both consumers and small businesses. As we've previously heard, customers can connect up to 10 devices to the same pool of data, with plans starting at $40 a month for 300MB, going all the way up to $560 a month for 75GB. Businesses get a slightly different deal, with up to 25 devices being able to share up to 100GB for $750 a month. All plans include unlimited voice, messaging and include tethering. Of course, there's also a per device charge, with smartphones costing $40 per month, basic phones running $30, hotspots $20 and tablets $10. There are also plans specifically for tablets and hotspots that start at $10 for 1GB of data. There's a few more details after the break, but you can also head straight to US Celluar's site to purchase one of the new plans for yourself.
iPhone 5s and 5c shipping to regional carriers on October 1st, but not to US Cellular
When your name is on a Major League Baseball stadium, and you're a mobile operator, you carry the iPhone. Unless you're US Cellular, that is. For reasons that cannot be comprehended by mere mortals, one of the United States' largest regional carriers still isn't offering the iPhone in any variant, despite promising back in May to carry Apple products before the year's end. In fact, things have gotten so bad over at USCC that its Facebook page has gone dead silent since September 13th, with customers far and wide ranting in the comments section about the carrier's inability to get the one phone they all want. Making matters worse for USCC is the fact that Appalachian Wireless, C Spire, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellcom, GCI, MTA, Nex-Tech Wireless, Ntelos and Strata are all lined up to start selling both the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s on October 1st. We suppose even more could be added as time rolls on and the supply / demand balance rights itself, but it's probably high time for US Cellular holdouts to head on over to a rival. Patience only gets you so far, you know?

Samsung Galaxy Mega hitting AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular this month (updated)
Duck and cover -- Samsung announced this morning that its latest monster handset, the Galaxy Mega, will be arriving on our shores this month. The 6.3-inch monolith will be coming to AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular. Beyond that, availability information is one thing about this phone that's still on the small side -- as the company explains in a press release this morning (which you can find in all of its PRy glory below), "each carrier will announce their specific availability, colors and timing." We do know that it'll have Android 4.2.2 and a 1.7GHz dual core processor. Expect more info on the only smartphone visible from space to follow soon from each of the aforementioned carriers. Update: As expected, the carrier announcements have begun trickling in. You can find Sprint's below. It adds...a little information to what we already knew, namely the fact that the Now Network will be offering up unlimited data with the handset. Update 2: More info now from the AT&T camp, and this time out, it's stuff we can really use -- namely price and date. The carrier's got the massive handset arriving the 23rd, priced at $150 (with, you guessed it, a two-year contract). US Cellular's shared data plans: here are the pricing details
It'll probably come as no shock to those who've been keeping even a loose eye on trends in the carrier space, but US Cellular is about to usher in its own take on shared data. Family plans have quickly become the norm, with data taking precedence over text and voice, and USCC's take on things looks awfully familiar. Moto X finally official: Motorola X8, 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED, custom finishes, assembled in the USA from $199
Well, you've gotta hand it to Motorola -- the company has managed to build an unprecedented amount of buzz surrounding what's turned out to be a relatively mundane mainstream smartphone launch. The Moto X is likely to be a big hit, don't get us wrong, but many of the device's banner features debuted last week, with Verizon's 2013 Droid lineup. The major differentiator here is that the X is uniquely customizable, and available through multiple carriers. At the core, there's Moto's new X8 Mobile Computing System. It's not simply a custom SoC; there's a Snapdragon S4 Pro under the hood, with a 1.7GHz dual-core Krait CPU and a quad-core Adreno 320 GPU, positioned alongside two unique Motorola processors, including one to handle language interpretation (Google Now without the associated battery drain) and a contextual computing core, which manages the smartphone's sensors. From there, we're looking at a 4.7-inch 720p (316 ppi) AMOLED panel, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of base storage (there's a 32GB option with AT&T), a 2,200mAh battery offering up to 24 hours of "mixed" usage and your standard suite of 4G radios. On the imaging front, there's a 10-megapixel Clear Pixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, both of which shoot 1080p video. As for connectivity, there's Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and GLONASS, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, Miracast Wireless Display, NFC and a nano-SIM. Beginning at the end of August, the 16GB model will retail for $199 with a two-year contract on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon, while the 32GB flavor (an AT&T exclusive) will ship for $249. Only AT&T customers will have access to additional color options -- those on other carriers can choose from black and white. You'll be able to pick up a standard Moto X at carrier retail and Best Buy stores, or you can configure your own at the Moto Maker site, available exclusively for AT&T customers. There you can select from multiple case and accent colors, which you can pair with a black or white faceplate. There's also an option to add custom text to the rear, such as an email address in case you lose your device, and you can pre-select a wallpaper and power-on greeting as well. Finally, several wood backings are set to be available in the future, assuming you don't mind waiting until Q4 to configure your phone. Motorola hasn't detailed global availability, but the device is expected to launch in several other countries soon, albeit without customization options and Texas assembly. US Cellular to reintroduce contracts for existing customer upgrades
Snagging a subsidized phone after completing a two-year contract with US Cellular has meant not having to ink another 24-month commitment, but it looks like that's about to change. We've gotten wind from an internal source that the firm will return to its old ways, requiring existing Belief Plan customers angling for discounted hardware to hitch their wagon to the carrier for an additional two trips around the sun. These changes aren't slated to take effect until July 27th, so we recommend pulling the trigger on that upgrade you've been eyeing before then. Samsung ATIV Odyssey now available on US Cellular for $50 after rebate
The obscure ZTE Render's had its fair share of good times as US Cellular's Windows Phone, but the carrier's now ready to add its first WP8 device to the lineup: the Samsung ATIV Odyssey. The smartphone, which has been available on Verizon for several months, finally launches online today and in stores this Thursday for $50 on contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate. The device offers a WVGA display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage with microSD expansion, NFC, a 2,100mAh battery and 5MP rear camera with 1.2MP front-facing cam.

T-Mobile to acquire 10MHz of LTE spectrum from US Cellular in $308 million deal
LTE spectrum is a hot commodity, and if you're hurting for cash, it might not be a bad time to let some go. US Cellular just inked a deal to unload 10MHz of Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum, padding its pocketbook with a whopping $308 million in cash. Pending FCC approval, that wireless load will be making its way over to T-Mobile, which would then own the vast majority of AWS. It's good news for T-Mobile customers, no doubt, especially those in the Southeast -- according to a press release, the spectrum T-Mob just snatched up covers 32 million people in cities like St. Louis, Memphis, Little Rock and New Orleans.

ZTE Imperial for US Cellular leaks in official docs, poised for June 17th launch
Now that the mid-range LG Optimus F7 has joined U.S. Cellular's lineup, the carrier's getting ready to welcome another budget-minded smartphone to the clan. We've gotten ahold of internal documents indicating that the ZTE Imperial will arrive on June 17th carrying a 4-inch 480x800 display, and will run Android 4.1 on a 1.2 GHz single-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of built-in memory and a 2,5000 mAh battery. A 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter and a microSD slot will make an appearance on the hardware as well, along with LTE data, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and GPS. Mid-range LG Optimus F7 arrives with LTE and $100 price tag on US Cellular
The LG Optimus F7 with LTE is now available on US Cellular, shortly after leaked documents robbed it of any surprise. It comes with a healthy spec sheet for a mid-range Jelly Bean device, with a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, a 1.3-megapixel front cam, and an 8-megapixel rear camera. The device is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and has 8GB of internal storage, expandable via the miracle of microSD. You can get the Optimus F7 via US Cellular's website for $99.99 on a two-year contract, but don't move a finger-muscle until you've checked out our hands-on.
LG Optimus F7 for US Cellular leaks through company documents
US Cellular isn't just looking to spice up its device roster with the ATIV Odyssey. We've obtained documents that point to LG's upper mid-range Android smartphone, the Optimus F7, also reaching the carrier in the near future. Outside of the unintrusive branding on the back, it's a very straightforward port: the F7 should still carry its 4.7-inch qHD screen, LTE data, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, an 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera.
