While Sky finances its own original TV content, it also imports blockbuster US series including Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Silicon Valley for its Sky Atlantic channel. BT's tried to keep up by offering Netflix on its set-top boxes, but its latest deal could give it much sounder footing. The company has teamed up with AMC, maker of Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead, to launch a new UK AMC channel on BT TV.

  • The Walking Dead Pinball is great fun

The Walking Dead by Telltale Games is a lot of fun, and it's won a slew of awards. Now available in two parts, it tells a unique story set in the world of The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. I played through part one on my iPad and loved it. Now, Zen Studios expands on the series with The Walking Dead Pinball (universal, free with in-app purchases). It features characters and situations from part one of Telltale's games with voiceover work from members of the original cast. You needn't play through Telltale's game to have fun with Walking Dead Pinball, but those who have will enjoy it on another level. Looks great When first launched, you're greeted with that droning, sad music that permeates Telltale's game. The same characters are all there, too, and the artwork is in the same style. I like the continuity between the two games, as it keeps the pinball game thematically relevant. The game itself looks great. You'll find many scenes from the Telltale game, including the mote, the barn, the train and more. All of the characters are there, too, from Clementine to Lee and the rest of the gang. Plus walkers. Lots of walkers. Gameplay The Walking Dead Pinball is similar to a physical pinball game. You pull back the knob -- in this case, an axe -- to launch the ball and tap anywhere to activate the flippers and keep it in play. Of course, you aren't mindlessly tapping a ball around. There are goals to achieve and experiences to unlock. But I'll let you discover those on your own. I will say that there are some fun cutscenes and "side quests," if you will, to complete. As your game begins, characters Clementine and Lee are watching the action. Certain actions cause certain events to happen. You might have to save Clementine or do something at the barn, for example. This next level of interaction adds a lot of fun and, as I said, is great fun for those who've played Telltale's game. You can sign in with Facebook to brag about your score (though this isn't required at all), and the "hotseat" game is a pass-and-play competition between you and a friend. The Walking Dead Pinball looks best on an iPad but I've been using it on my iPhone and it's still a lot of fun. Give it a try...and shoot for the head.

  • WoW Moviewatch: Walking Dead Parody

Chris created this video as a parody of Walking Dead, sticking mostly to shots that resemble the style of the show. It's an interesting attempt at homage, and I applaud the effort. The animation and visuals work fairly well, but the video is over pretty quickly. It needed much more narrative meat to effective satirize or even translate Walking Dead into WoW. While it might have been short since it was a first effort, I think the technical skills put on display are capable of a larger story. Besides, who doesn't love the occasional zombie? Team Joystiq is barging into 2014 with a celebration of last year's best games. Keep reading throughout the week to see our assembly of ingenious indies and triple-A triumphs. Puppeteer Come one, come all, to hear the remarkable tale of Kutaro and the magical scissors, Calibrus! Come, see the evil Moon Bear King as he tries to cast the world into nonstop darkness! Come, see his 12 generals steal the power of the Moon Goddess! And see young Kutaro ... basically get mixed up in the whole thing by accident. Wrong place, wrong time, delicious-looking head. You know how it goes. Puppeteer commits to its puppet show aesthetic with gusto, crafting every character, object and bit of scenery out of paper, wood, string, or fabric. The narrator provides the exposition with the nuanced delivery of someone who's attended one too many acting classes, and the cast does their best to remember their lines while the audience murmurs in appreciation. The entire setup is bonkers, keeping its tongue placed firmly in its cheek as you cut down the Moon Stone-hoarding generals one by one and eventually square off against the rotund MBK himself. With sly writing, a spectacular soundtrack and gorgeously detailed locations that include neatly manicured gardens, a Halloweentown, a swamp and outer space, Puppeteer is a gaming experience to savor, rather than rush. Of course, it will take multiple run-throughs to find all of the collectible puppet heads, so you'll have more than enough opportunity to catch every joke and notice every secret. As a PS3 exclusive at the end of that console's cycle, Puppeteer didn't get nearly as much attention as it deserved, but this is a real gem. Hunt it down and play it. Your audience awaits.

Christmas is a time for family, for giving, and for giving family some credible excuses as to why you're ducking them in order to catch up on all the gaming goodness you missed during the year. In my case, I binged on Age of Wushu and a handful of the year's single-player critical darlings including The Walking Dead, Faster Than Light, and Borderlands 2. As I was feeling guilty for neglecting my bread-and-butter MMOs, I was also thinking about which, if any, of these titles would make for an engaging MMO translation. How about it Massively readers? Would you play MMO versions of those three titles? Why or why not? Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!
