Ed Boon has announced that NetherRealm Studios' take on the DC universe, Injustice: Gods Among Us, is "for sure" getting its own comic series sometime in the future, according to Polygon."We're working on an Injustice comic book to carry the story and tell the events that came before the game," Boon said at the EB Expo in Sydney, Australia. "Obviously the extreme version is it would spawn a lot more things, but I know for sure we are making an Injustice comic." Boon hopes that DC fans will accept the new Injustice universe as they have the Arkham Asylum/City canon. You guys remember back in the 90s, when they made a Street Fighter movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme and then later made Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game? Well, this is like that, but here's hoping that Comic Books: The Video Game: The Comic Book works out a lot better.

Now and then I think of buying games on PC,like maybe something with some action or some stealth? But how to know which game is right for me? So many different gaming companies,Been burned before and it's an ache I still remember. You can get addicted to the purchase of games on Steam, especially when there's a sale, always a sale. So when I found Batman: Arkham City, including every piece of DLC,well I'll admit that I was glad it was 20 percent off. But you didn't have to kill them both!Shot them dead behind the theater and now I'm an orphan.I've still got my butler though,The Joker tries to kill me and it feels so rough. No you didn't have to stoop so low, try to poison all of Gotham just to find your answer. But I guess I need that antidote, now I've spent some money that I used to own.On Batman: Arkham CityOn Batman: Arkham CityOn Batman: Arkham CityNow I've spent some money that I used to own.

  • Paul Dini explains absence from next Batman game

Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City writer Paul Dini isn't working on the next Batman game from Rocksteady, but we already knew that much. However, other than some vague tweets, we didn't know why that was the case. The reason turns out to be much less thrilling than any of his Batman scripts: "The last talk I had with Warner Interactive about future games was while I was doing promotion for Arkham City last September. Naturally as there was such a rush of interest about Arkham City, everyone was asking me about a third game, and frankly, I had been wondering about that myself. When I asked about the possibility of working on a third game I was told that as Rocksteady had just finished wrapping the second one, it would be a while before everyone was ready to sit down and discuss future plans. That said, it was intimated that for future games, Warner and Rocksteady might not be looking as much to freelance writers, the message being, that if I had something else interesting coming my way, I might want to take it."Dini says he wasn't included in Arkham City's DLC projects, and he hasn't been tapped for work on the rumored Silver Age-themed Batman game, said to be Rocksteady's next project. He's since taken on other work that makes him "unavailable to take on anything new until 2013." He's not bitter, though, even noting that "If we wind up working together again at some point, that would be cool, too."

With the success of Mortal Kombat, it's hardly shocking that Ed Boon's NetherRealm Studios is already at work on another fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. But Boon wouldn't mind getting away from the fighting game rigmarole, granted Injustice "does well.""If it does well, we would like to see our next step be a non-fighting game, maybe something unique in its own right," Boon told PlayStation Blog. "This is our first step in that direction."But this doesn't mean Boon's ready to look beyond Injustice just yet. There's a lot planned for the DC brawler, including a DLC character campaign comparable to what we saw in Mortal Kombat. "We'll definitely want to introduce unexpected characters [via DLC] to Injustice. That'll be our strategy. It's comparable to Mortal Kombat, but being really aggressive with our DLC characters."

Rocksteady's next game could be yet another Batman adventure, albeit in a new timeline, Variety reports. According to unnamed sources speaking with the film industry publication, Rocksteady's currently at work on a "new, highly stylized" Bats prequel game "that revolves around Batman's first meeting with the Joker."This new game – not expected until 2014 at least – is supposedly set in the Silver Age of comics. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the news, and Rocksteady hasn't said a peep about any new projects since Arkham City wrapped last year. And as far as we know, no one's discovered any hidden rooms in Arkham City that reveal future games. Hey, it wouldn't be the first time!

The gaming cloud company Gaikai, which partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive last March to stream an hour of gameplay in two different AAA games and more recently was in the news for partnering with En Masse to offer an instant streaming version of TERA's demo, was just acquired by Sony for the sum of $380 million. What does this mean for the company with numerous games across different platforms? Sony Computer Entertainment President Andrew House explains that the company "will deliver a world-class cloud-streaming service that allows users to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices." For more insight into the realm of cloud-streaming MMOs, check out Massively's look at Gaikai and browser-based gaming.

Monolith Productions has one of the most varied histories in video game development. The studio first cut its teeth on first-person shooters, finding a cult hit in the popular No One Lives Forever series. Then, it was a vast experiment with The Matrix Online, before coming back to shooters with the Fear and Condemned series of games. And now, the company's trying to reinvent itself yet again with two licensed downloadable titles for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment: first Gotham City Imposters from earlier this year, and now Guardians of Middle-earth.Guardians of Middle-earth is a weird one. It's a licensed Lord of The Rings title, starring characters from Tolkien's series. It's a MOBA game, similar to League of Legends or DOTA 2, featuring Tolkien's characters fighting it out across a battlefield full of AI-controlled troops. And it's a complicated, deep online multiplayer title, designed for competitive play."What's so weird about that?" you ask? It's being developed only for consoles.%Gallery-157247%

Yesterday's reveal of (and accompanying trailer for) Injustice: Gods Among Us got us pretty dang jazzed up for NetherRealm Studios' future as a fighting game developer, especially after learning of the game's two different character types ("Powered" and "Gadget") and their ability to manipulate the environment to their advantage. This latest batch of screenshots doesn't show off much in the way of environmental manipulation, but it does show off Superman's heat vision and Harley Quinn's ample bombs.Seriously, it looks like she's holding two huge literal bombs in one of these screenshots. Solomon Grundy better watch out, is all we're saying.%Gallery-156647%

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have just unveiled Injustice: Gods Among Us, which is a superhero fighting game set in the DC Universe. Based on the debut trailer above, it appears as though something has turned the Earth's greatest heroes into the Earth's deadliest villains, who are now pitted against each other in mortal combat.Spotted characters include Batman, Superman, the Flash, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn (!!), Lex Luthor and Solomon Grundy, all of whom seem capable of delivering incredible amounts of damage to one another. Injustice: Gods Among Us will launch for on the PS3, 360 and Wii U sometime in 2013.Update: Injustice's character roster is split into two categories: "Power" characters like Superman and Wonder Woman, and "Gadget" characters like the Batman and (presumably) Harley Quinn. Depending on a character's class, they'll be able to interact with the environment in different ways. Batman may be able to slam Wonder Woman's head into a parked car, for instance, while Wonder Woman is able to slam a parked car into Batman's head.Environmental hazards are set to play a major role in the game, adding a bonus level of strategy to each character match-up, according to this video interview with NetherRealm's Ed Boon: "You're really going to want to care where you are, in which background, with which character."Additionally, the debut trailer clearly shows the Flash narrowly avoiding a massive icicle, which may be a strong indicator of the presence of either Captain Cold or Mr. Freeze. Injustice will have "at least as many" fighters as Mortal Kombat, according to Gamespot.

  • Watch Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy record for Arkham City, destroy the fabric of reality

This voice acting-oriented episode of Inside Rocksteady Studios is the first time we personally have ever seen either the Joker or Batman's voices come out of real human bodies, and suffice to say that oh man is it weird. It's almost like Batman and the Joker are providing voiceovers for Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, instead of the other way around. Seeing the Joker's spooky laugh come out of a hunched-over Mark Hamill is an image that'll stick with us for a while, and his cheshire cat grin didn't help much either. The video also features Stana Katic (Talia in Arkham City and Detective Becket on Castle), but seeing her perform isn't so much of a head trip, considering that it's basically just Detective Becket with an undercover accent.

You may have noticed that April 30 came and went without so much as a peep from the young Miss Harleen Quinzel, and that her purported plans for vengeance have yet to procure reparations for, well, you know. That's because the original date we had listed for the Batman: Arkham City add-on, Harley Quinn's Revenge, was incorrect. The tweet that originally gave us the April 30 date has been amended, listing May 29 as the content's correct worldwide release date. In hindsight, that makes a bit more sense considering that the Game of the Year Edition also hits that day.Though our minds know another month isn't that long of a wait, our hearts are just as broken as Harley's. Come, ease the pain with this absurdly high-resolution version of the cover art seen above.

We're of the firm opinion that your time is too precious, too valuable to be spent reading a full review for a game that was already reviewed many, many years ago. What's the point of applying a score to a game that's old enough to be enrolled in the sixth grade? That's why we invented Deja Review: A quick look at the new features and relative agelessness of remade, revived and re-released games. When I said that Mortal Kombat was the best fighting game of 2011, it wasn't a statement I took lightly, nor was it a decision I arrived at easily. I've always loved Mortal Kombat as a franchise, for its hokeyness and that special part of American gaming history that it represents, but I had never thought any of its games were ever particularly good – especially from tournament-level fighting game standards. Mortal Kombat changed all that, not only by staying true to the series' ridiculous goofball roots, but also by being a solid, well-balanced, mechanically rich piece of game design. I know, I couldn't believe it either.Fast forward just a little over one year to the day, and it's time for Mortal Kombat's encore performance on the Vita. Thankfully, the portable version of Raiden and friends' adventure through Outworld is just as fun, gruesome and reliable as its console counterparts, though perhaps a little rougher around the edges.%Gallery-146183%

Perhaps the extremely curvy chunk of Batman: Arkham City featuring Harley Quinn simply wasn't enough for you, or maybe you just like your DLC with an extra splash of Fran Drescher-esque voice acting? We can't be sure, but you specifically will be happy to hear that 10 PlayStation 3 Trophies were dug up by PS3Trophies.org which reveal a yet-to-be announced DLC pack featuring Ms. Quinn. No other description is given for the content other than "Harley Quinn DLC," nor is release date or pricing info, though Robin is noted in one Trophy as a playable character. Moreover, that Trophy addresses an event known as, "Harley Quinn's Revenge," which sounds to us an awful lot like the potential name for the content. We've reached out to WB for more info, and will keep an eye on the sky for any Bat clues.[Thanks, Josh.]
