Nintendo adds a Labo VR view to 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' (updated)
The update also brings more Amiibo options to the game.
It looks like you'll soon be able to beat up your friends in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from an entirely different perspective. It seems the hit Switch fighting game is getting a virtual reality mode via the Labo Toy-Con VR Goggles, according to a Twitter bot for SSBU patch notes (which has a track record of revealing them around 12 hours before Nintendo does).

Update (9:24 PM ET): Now it's official, with a new video from Nintendo showing off the new VR mode that's launching today. In it, players can fight up to 3 AI opponents offline while viewing through the headset, sit back and watch AI battles or just look around the game's 3D maps.
While "dozens" of stages are supported in the mode, it's not compatible for online play or local wireless matches. A blog post also confirms that the version 3.1 software update adds a new Amiibo journey mode, and allows you to use Amiibo fighters in Battle Arena. The patch follows updates that brought VR features to Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild last month.
