Supposedly the 3DS has a built-in pedometer that tracks your steps, and awards you "Game Coins" which can be used to purchase bonus game content.

Pretty interesting!

I wonder how easy it will be to juke these numbers? If it rewards you for movement with game coins, what's to stop someone from just picking the thing up and shaking it for a few minutes?

The Pokéwalker doesn't (or isn't supposed to) register brisk shaking, so I would assume the 3DS has the same protection.

However, they don't really have protection against this:

You can manipulate the Pokéwalker by gentle shaking. I did for hours at a time when I got mine.

this will not do that, you can only earn 10 coins a day. They must have learned from the walker. Good move in a way

This seems great. I am going to walk a lot and it will tell me how far I walked and reward me for it. Rumors out now are showing that you can use these coins in game and game devs have been told to use this tech. Lego pirates of the Caribbean has said to use this
