Amazon has enacted a one-day discount on Yakuza 4, allowing you to take the entire Kamurocho neighborhood and its residents home for $39.99. That's a great deal for a game that lasts anywhere from 30 to hundreds of hours. Think of it this way: If you earn your money in the way the game's heroes do -- by picking it up from hapless, idiotic gang members who dare to challenge you -- you won't have to beat up as many dudes before you can afford the game. That's good news for you, and good news for your city's weaker gangsters. [Thanks, Devon]

We'll probably never be able to realize our vision for a video game based on a crime syndicate that operates solely out of subaquatic tunnels. However, Amazon's offering the next best thing: BioShock 2 and Mafia 2 are marked down to $11 and $15, respectively, as the Deal of the Day promotion.

If you've been holding off on purchasing Pokémon Black and White until its price is reduced or until you overcome your fears of what your grown-ass friends will think -- well, you can put one of those to rest. The new generation is available for $24.99 on Amazon as the current Deal of the Day.

  • Take a Crazy Taxi ride to Amazon for Dreamcast Collection savings

At $30, a collection of four Dreamcast games on a disc seems slightly underwhelming -- even if one of them is Space Channel 5 Part 2. At $20, however, the Dreamcast Collection becomes infinitely more desirable. That's the same price you'd normally pay for Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi on XBLA (though the XBLA Crazy Taxi is on sale right now for $5!), with two extra games thrown in. If ten bucks was all you needed to turn your opinion around, you can take advantage of this deal at Amazon. The site is offering the Xbox version of Dreamcast Collection for $19.99 as the Deal of the Day.

In the mood for some strategy role-playing on the go? In the mood to be reminded of Queen album cuts every time you look at the title screen? Head to Amazon today for one-day savings on the quite well-received PSP remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Yasumi Matsuno's classic tactical RPG is normally $40, but is available for $27.99 as Amazon's deal of the day. As always, that means the deal ends either at 2AM PST or when Amazon runs out of stock, so if your Shopper units are at a high enough level, you should tackle this challenge immediately.

Listen up, jerk-head. If you're not too busy being a stink-face, and you're as terrible as we are at coming up with vulgar smack talk portmanteaus, Amazon's offering a discounted master's class in the form of Bulletstorm -- it's today's Deal of the Day, making it temporarily available for $39.99.

In the time it takes you to pronounce the words "Xbox 360 Hori Real Arcade Pro EX joystick," you could order one from Amazon for $85. Considering it usually runs $130, fighting fans might consider picking one up. After all, the fate of two worlds -- and your wallet -- hangs in the balance.

Today on Amazon, you can get the $150 Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach for what the regular edition cost at launch: $60. That's like buying the game and getting a free Noble Team statue and in-game helmet! If you'd like to spend a bit less but still get something special, the Limited Edition is just $40. (The regular edition is currently priced at $32 and change.) Of course, these two sales constitute Amazon's Deal of the Day and will expire either at midnight Pacific (3AM ET) or when the retailer runs out of stock. And we've heard that this Halo stuff is pretty popular.

  • Dragon Quest VI, Medal of Honor, and a bunch of Wii music items in Amazon Gold Box

    02.23.2011

Amazon is offering a spate of gaming deals in its Gold Box today, revealing a new time-limited offer every couple of hours. Strangely, the discounts are about half Wii music-game themed -- things like the Wii versions of Michael Jackson: The Experience (the Deal of the Day at $30), Rock Band 3, and Dance Dance Revolution. However, the non-Wii part includes savings on the DS version of Plants vs. Zombies, Dragon Quest VI, Civilization V and others, so the lack of a fully committed theme is forgivable. Find the list after the break.

If your heart aches for gaming crossovers, but your wallet aches for cash money more, then you may be interested in a current deal over on Amazon: Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded for only $22.99. The game is Amazon's Deal of the Day, a promotion that sees one object discounted for the entirety of the day -- realistically, the sale lasts until that particular item is sold out. So if you're in the market for some Disney and Square Enix cross-promotional synergy, we'd suggest acting sooner rather than later.

Looking for a discount on spacefaring scares? Amazon is offering Dead Space 2 on Xbox 360 today for $39.99 (the PS3 version has already sold out is back for now!), and $39.95 on PC, allowing you to get a sensible cost-per-unit on "holy craps." The retailer is also offering the Collector's Edition for $59.95 -- what you'd normally pay for the standard edition. PS3 copies of this edition are still available, and include a free Move-compatible Dead Space Extraction (as all first-run PS3 copies do), boosting the pants-wetting/money ratio even further. This deal will expire at the end of the day or until Amazon runs out of copies, so if you're interested get it now or face the terrifying proposition that you'd have to pay more. That's the bad kind of scare.

  • 007: Blood Stone is 050 percent off on Amazon

    12.31.2010

Dotcom; Amazon dotcom. The online retailer has bled half the price off of Bizarre's non-movie-affiliated James Bond game, James Bond 007: Blood Stone. For today only, you can pick up the latest Daniel Craigventure for $29.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC and DS versions aren't part of the deal, selling for $44 and $24 respectively. Here's our insane theory: if enough people buy this today (like, eight million or so, depending on how many of these Amazon has in stock), then either Activision will reverse its decision to shutter Bizarre Creations, or some other company will become more eager to throw money at it.

Today's Amazon Deal of the Day is actually deals -- discounts on a bunch of accessories. But our personal highlight is right there on the front page. Hori's wonderful Dragon Quest Slime Speaker Stand for DS, which is a DS stand with a speaker in it, that is shaped like a Slime from Dragon Quest, and is on sale for $30. All of these offers will be active through the end of the day or until stock runs out.

Amazon's deal of the day is Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition at 33 percent off, for $40. For those who still haven't played Battlefield: Bad Company 2: the single-player campaign isn't anything special, but get some friends together in a squad and you've got some of the best multiplayer this year. %Gallery-93433%

    08.02.2010

Last Thursday, Amazon discounted a random trio of Square Enix games for its Deal of the Day. Today, three more Squeenix games receive a temporary discount -- and this time, none of them are Nier. If you have yet to decide whether the time-release fun of Final Fantasy 13 is for you, the decision is slightly easier today: it's available for $29.99 on both Xbox 360 and PS3. It's joined by revolutionary mayhem simulator Just Cause 2, which is down to $36.99 on the same two platforms, and $26.99 on PC. Finally, Supreme Commander 2 is supremely cheap at $26.99 on Xbox or $19.99 on PC. Given Amazon's recent Deal of the Day history, if you were planning to buy any other recent Square Enix releases, perhaps you should sit on that purchase for a week, just in case.

  • Amazon discounts Crystal Bearers, other Square Enix oddities

At a $20 price point, we'd have no problem recommending Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers to any Wii owner looking for a totally unique new experience. Luckily, Amazon has dropped Square Enix's telekinetic adventure to just that price as part of its Deal of the Day. In addition, Amazon is selling another starkly non-traditional Final Fantasy game, the PSP's Dissidia: Final Fantasy, at a special one-day price of $14.99. It's normally $20 in stores and on PSN -- which means that you should probably buy it along with something else to qualify for free shipping, or you're not really saving anything. Also, Nier for PS3 is on sale.

If you value function over form -- or, rather, Fantasy over form -- you may want to examine an alternative to purchasing the newer, slimmer Xbox 360. Amazon's current Deal of the Day is the Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 bundle, which has had its price reduced by one Grant, down to $300.
