  • WRUP: waiting is the hardest part edition

For the next two weeks or so, we're all probably sitting around and waiting for the release of WarioWare Smooth Moves. Well, we are, but you might not be. So, in the meantime, what will you be playing this weekend to take your mind off of the wait? Or, are you to be out on the town, tearing it up in the usual 'I'm 21 or over and am therefore going to overdo it this weekend' fashion, celebrating the new year? For us, we don't plan on doing much gaming since we have to find ourselves a new employee to join us in the Wii Fanboy dungeon and enjoy the daily tire iron beatings the Joystiq staff subjects us to. Oh, how we love the feeling of cold steel hitting us over and over again ...Past posts: What were you playing?

  • WRUP: avoiding the relatives and hiding in the closet with our DS edition

For us, and we assume a lot of you, this weekend will be filled with Christmas activities and visiting relatives to catch up. We're fine with that and bring our DS Lite in tow as a back-up in case things get too boring (they usually do). Now, you may be wondering But there is Friday and Saturday to play games, so what will you do then? You're right, but you forgot to account for our indentured servitude that never allows us to leave our cage incredible sense of procrastination, which demands we go shopping for gifts tonight and tomorrow. So that leaves us with Sunday, where we'll be visiting our relatives (who undoubtedly will attempt to squeeze our cheeks). That means we'll have to duck somewhere quiet and do what we do best: stomp Goombas and find contradictions in witness testimony. Our extended family isn't much into gaming, you see ...What about you? Is your family all about gaming, meaning your Christmas weekend (or any other holiday you celebrate) will be filled with some multiplayer gaming? • WRUP: Wii-less edition

Yes, you read that correctly. We are without Wii this weekend. It is sad, we know, but such is the nature of the holidays. See, we're incredible procrastinators, so we still have to pick up Christmas gifts for our relatives. That activity is sure to eat up tonight and a majority of tomorrow, leaving us time to wrap and prepare said gifts for our travels on Sunday, where we'll be visiting relatives. And our relatives aren't all that into gaming! So that means we can't bring our Wii (it's sad, but there won't even be a TV where we're going) and instead are packing our DS Lite in the hopes of finding somewhere quiet to get our fix. Still, not everyone is as unlucky as we are, so we assume a lot of you will be able to get your game on this weekend. What are you playing? Perhaps you're going to tear up some mud in Excite Truck or save a few lives in Trauma Center: Second Opinion? Or will you and the family be playing some multiplayer Wii Sports? Let us know!Past posts: What were you playing?

For us, a lot of our time with the DS lately has been filled with platforming and tag-team undead killing action (see: Portrait of Ruin), but we have different plans this weekend. We plan on going through the old GBA collection here at the DSF dungeon. Maybe we'll go through Sword of Mana again, or perhaps have ourselves another go in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. So, it inspired us to ask you what GBA games you wouldn't mind dusting off and playing again. Sure, we want to know what you plan on playing, as usual, but if that game (or games) had to be for the GBA, what would it be?Past posts: What were you playing?

Another Friday and another question must be asked: What are you playing? For us, we plan on getting tons of time in with Donkey Kong Jr. on the Virtual Console. With few desirable releases available to us this week, we're forced to get our fix with some multiplayer Wii Sports and rock the Virtual Console. We plan on doing the usual thing, gathering some friends together and having a ball with our Wii.What about you guys? Still hung up on Zelda or do you perhaps have your teeth sunk into another title and have yet to beat it?Past posts: What were you playing?

Out of all the games released this week, only one was really on everyone's radar. So, how many of you are currently stuck in the past, battling vamps and other ghastly ghouls during World War II? We have yet to pick up the game ourselves, with the intention to do so this weekend. So, you know what we're (planning on) playing, but what are you playing?Plan on staking Dracula right in his chest, as well? Or do you not care about the eternal struggle between good and evil, instead looking toward other titles to provide amusement?Past posts: What were you playing?

With a pretty lackluster week of releases, what will you be playing over the weekend? Revisiting a past favorite, or will you be playing something that has long sat neglected on your shelf? Or did you actually pick up one of those games and plan on playing some this weekend? Plan on playing nothing and sitting around, bored out of your skull? For us, we plan on getting some practice in so that we may be less embarrassed come Tuesday night's Game Night. Looks like we better get some time in Metroid Prime Hunters as, of right now, it is leading in the poll. Remember, you can vote every day, not just once!Read - Past What are you Playing? posts.

Obviously, the biggest release this week is the latest adventure starring Sam Fisher. How many of you have picked up Splinter Cell: Double Agent? If no Splinter Cell, then what will you be playing instead? Maybe some more Zelda or a multiplayer jaunt through Wii Sports?Personally, we have a great night of Wii Sports planned ourselves. Getting together with three other buddies, we plan on getting some Tennis in, as well as the group favorite that is Bowling.

It's the first time we get to ask you guys now that the Wii has released, so, what are you playing? For many Americans, today feels a lot like Friday and, as far as our employers and government are concerned, it might as well be. With tomorrow being the day we celebrate Thanksgiving by stuffing our faces (more than usual) with turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and various delicious types of pie, we felt we'd ask what you're playing a little early. For all of our non-American readers whose country's past does not include Pilgrims and Native Americans coming together in peace, well ... be sure to rub your next exclusive holiday in our faces. So what will it be? A little multiplayer Wii Sports with the family? Is your family interested in seeing what this Wii is all about, or is your obsession with gaming like some kind of contagious virus to them, forcing you to play Red Steel alone in the basement?

Having just picked up a portable RPG title that has never been available in the states before, we're doing our best to win every turn-based round of combat. But forget about us! What about you? What are you playing? It's the holiday season, so there are definitely tons of games to choose from. Plan on placing some bombs in Bomberman Land Touch! or perhaps running your own shop in Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2? Oh wait, you're probably looking to ride the back of a dinosaur, am I right?

This is an interesting week. We are fast approaching the hectic holiday season, the PS3 finally launched today, and the Halo 3 hype train is at full steam. I was a little disappointed that my wild speculation about Bungie's Marathon coming to Arcade was wrong, so I decided to download it for PC. It is free, after all. It takes a tiny extra step to make it run on PC (it was originally a Mac title) but it's worth it for a piece of Halo history (does that hand in the screenshot look familiar?). If you're having trouble installing, go here.Back on 360, of course there is Gears, I'm still collecting gold bricks in Lego Star Wars II, and chasing after the "Bulletproof" Achievement in Contra. Frankly, winning with one credit is hard, but I won't be satisfied until I can do it in one life. How 'bout the rest of you? What are you playing this weekend? Hit me up if you want to play some Gears or the Vegas demo. (Any 360 fanboys brave enough to admit they're hoping to play Resistance?)Leaderboards (time for Mk. We almost forgot it's Friday, and that can mean only one thing. That's right, it's time for another exciting edition of What Are You Playing! Of course, this may be the first week that I can guess what most of you are playing. Let's see, using only the powers of my mind, I'm going to guess you're playing Gears of War this weekend. Was I right? Was I close? All kidding aside, it might be more relevant to ask what people are playing besides Gears of War -- especially our European friends who have to wait another week for the game. So, are you rocking anything else? Any Project 8 or maybe a few achievement runs in Contra? For that matter, who picked up Viva Piñata? Leave a comment and tell us what you're playing this weekend. Don't forget to stop by one of our leaderboards for some friendly competition or co-op, too. Also, we've got a new feature for WRUP: What Were You Playing. Simply click the link below and you can browse our What Are You Playing archive. Go dig up your old comments and you'll always know what you were playing. We weren't lying when we said this would become a regular Friday feature like how it originated at Xbox 360 Fanboy. So, another week, another asking. What are you playing? Like we said last week, we recently received Electroplankton and Star Fox: Command. As much as we'd like to say Corneria is saved and currently defended against all ne'er-do-wells, we have to admit that it has been hard to put down Electroplankton. Our favorite gametype in Performance Mode is currently pictured.

Oh boy, I'm only just discovering the joys of Lego Star Wars II. This game, like, totally roxxorz my boxxorz. The compulsion to collect studs, minikits, and bricks is a powerful one, and I can no longer resist. Still, whenever I can manage to pull myself away from toothpick-sized plastic lightsabers, I'll probably be gunning for a few Achievements in UMK3 and maybe the more difficult time trial Achievements in Lumines Live. Oh, and with any luck, my copy of Phantasy Star Universe will show up today. I know the single player won't be Phantasy Star V, but hopefully it will scratch the itch. How 'bout the rest o' yas? Splinter Cell perhaps? DOOM? Marvel? Tell us what's going down this weekend. Hmmm ... I wonder what everyone will be playing next weekend. Hopefully something will emerge.

Borrowing an idea from our good friends over at Xbox 360 Fanboy, we've decided to make a regular Friday feature of asking you guys how you're getting your game on over the weekend. What are you playing? Could it be a new release such as Magical Starsign? Are you instead visiting an older title you have yet to complete or even free from the confines of its shrink wrap? Personally, we just took advantage of the sweet Toys R Us deal and await our copies of Electroplankton and Star Fox: Command, so until they arrive we are without a new game to rock our DS Lite with. Maybe we'll hop onto Wi-Fi Connect and play a little Metroid Prime Hunters.

It's time once again for that all important question, what are you playing? This week marks the release of Splinter Cell: Double Agent so, we imagine quite a few of you will be spending your weekend snapping necks and being all sneaky-like. Me, I've still got to wrap up Dead Rising, Lego Star Wars II is staring me in the face, and I have yet to crack into Enchanted Arms. And let's not forget that the Phantasy Star beta is still running. Oh, and that the Project 8 demo should hit today -- still not out as of this posting. On the Live Arcade front, there's Lumines and 3 more episodes of DOOM to clear up (on Ultra Violent difficulty, of course).Put simply, there's just too damned much to play. How 'bout you? What will you be playing this weekend?

Last week we asked what everyone was playing, and we got such a nice response, we've decided to do it again. In fact, let's just do it once a week, shall we? Of course, last week we asked on a Monday, when many of us don't have much time to game. So, this week we're asking on a Friday when you have time to enjoy the weekend.I'll go first. I just finished off Prey (I really enjoyed it) and now I'm getting full swing into Dead Rising (here's hoping it doesn't destroy my 360). I've got Enchanted Arms on the way from Gameznflix, and I'm really eager to try it out. On the enemy front -- in the Fanboy wars that is -- I'm enjoying Advance Wars DS on my ... um ... DS.How about you, oh so faithful readers (and Ken, I guess)? What are you playing this weekend?

Here at Xbox 360 Fanboy, we get so caught up in news about games that haven't even come out yet, we sometimes forget about all the games that are available right now. So, just as a change of pace, what's everyone playing right now?Currently spinning in my 360: Dead Rising, Prey, and the F.E.A.R. demo (you can read about that last one later today). On arcade, lots of Pac-Man (fiancées love it!), UNO (still the number one choice for Joystiq/Fanboy editorial meetings), and Street Fighter II (36 wins, 29 losses, thank you very much). That's what I'm rockin'. How about you?
