Engadget Review

Chromebooks will always be polarizing, but at $249 the price is far more appropriate than it had been. We recommend it for schools and people looking for a cheap second laptop.

A forgettable product. It isn't bad, exactly, but also doesn't do anything particularly well. - Engadget

It is a great little laptop for travel or portability. It is also good for games and surfing the internet. Its not a main computer. For the price it is great. I haven't found any major problems yet. Would highly recommend

The Samsung Chromebook is a very compact device that help me in my everyday challenges. However if you want a Chromebook you will have to sacrifice some apps, like Skype or Microsoft word. However the Chromebook accounts for that by adding Google hangout which is a video chat service for free. It also has Google docs which can be accessed offline and online for constant editing, can be printed straight from the device or save it as a word document to send where ever you want.

When I bought this Chromebook, my immediate intention was to use it to take notes at my University. I was tired of lugging around my giant HP laptop and I was even more tired of plugging it in every two hours to get a charge. I've had this device for almost a year now and I haven't gone back to my HP for notes, ever. I have the entire Google ecosystem as my fingertips, which means I can type notes and work on presentations for free (not to mention everything is backed up continuously). Opening the lid, this baby starts up and is ready to go in about 10 seconds i'd say. For a boot time, that's not too shabby but most new laptops with an SSD and Windows 8 will boot twice as quick if the BIOS is set to quick-boot. While many people may gripe about the incredibly small on-board storage (16GB), people should understand that a Chromebook goes hand in hand with the Google ecosystem. With Google Play Music, you can upload up to 20,000 (yes, twenty-thousand) songs to the cloud and stream them on your Chromebook or smartphone for free; and the best part is that it doesn't use up your Google Drive space. Also, did I forget to mention that it comes with 100GB of free Drive for two-years?This is a CLOUD deviceIf you don't have internet where you do most of your work and are considering purchasing one of these, look for a Windows PC or a Mac. Most apps you can get from the Chrome Store will only run when you have an internet connection. However many apps now do have offline functionality, including most of the Google Ecosystem. My biggest gripeSince this device is meant for internet browsing and internet based content, the core specs of the machine are nothing to be flaunted. While the Exynos chip may be great for powering smartphones and mobile-based content, the same cannot be said for desktop-based content. I'm talking rich webpages chock-full of animations and fancy styling, all of which are just a little bit much to be handled by the hardware in this Chromebook. Webpages do run, but they do not run perfectly smooth. Places such as Facebook and Youtube run load slowly and can lag when a large amount of tabs are open. Again, this should be taken with a grain of salt because this is an entry-level device meant for basic inter activities along with note taking without sacrificing battery life. In conclusion, this device delivers huge bang for your buck. With the entire Google ecosystem, free Drive storage and amazing battery life, the Samsung XE303C12 Chromebook makes the perfect productivity machine.

I really love the Chromebook, it gives me everything I need. It boots within seconds, updates all the time, never get viruses, and is really fast. If you absolutely need native apps, there are ways to get Linux working. Chrome OS alone allows me to get all the work I need to do, done. There is literately no reason to get Microsoft Office or Apple iWork. Google Docs is free, fast, allows for great collaboration, and just plain works. Don't in any way shape or form think that you are going to sqeeze out gaming from this laptop. Lastly, the keyboard is on par with the Macbook Air. The trackpad is just the same, just with less gestures. Many reviewers approach the Chromebook in the wrong way. Think of this as more of a souped up tablet, that allows for traditional web browsing. If you like iPads, but need the real web, and/or a keyboard. Then, this is the product for you. This review was written on... a chromebook.

I own the 3G version. For the cost, you can't beat it (factor in 12 passes from Gogo and 100GB from Drive- its almost free at that point). The design apes the MBA 11.6 inch, but hey, it works. The trackpad is miles better than the one on the Cr-48 (no surprise there)
