Engadget Review

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is one of those devices that inspires adoration and annoyance at the same time. Its foldable design means you can carry around a tablet in your pocket and get plenty of work done along the way. Even after our testing was complete, we still found the Fold’s power and flexibility nothing short of intoxicating. As a commercial product, though, it leaves much to be desired. While closed, it’s chunky and clumsy, and we have serious concerns about how well its main screen will hold up over time. The Galaxy Fold offers a glimpse at the future of smartphones, but almost no one should consider buying one.

Tom's Guide
The Galaxy Fold is a very innovative and exciting foldable phone, but Samsung doesn’t quite justify the high price for this first-generation device.

CNET
The Galaxy Fold makes a convincing case for foldable phones, but wait for Samsung and others to fix inherent problems that keep it costly and plague the screen.

Digital Trends
The Galaxy Fold still proves foldable phones are going to be the next big thing.

PC Mag
Samsung gets points for innovation with its Galaxy Fold. You can use this pricey device as a phone or a tablet, but it doesn't quite satisfy in either regard.

TechRadar
The Galaxy Fold delivers a ‘wow’ factor that no other phone offers today, and yet we’d only recommend it to early adopters with a penchant for impressing their peers, and who have money to burn. It’s a technical marvel, with technical limitations, and it makes us hopeful for a more fully rounded sequel.

Washington Post
The Fold ultimately feels most like a portable tablet. Even when it’s folded in half, that much screen and battery is heavy — 9.28 ounces — a third more than other flagship phones.

If you want our review of the Galaxy Fold, here it is: don’t buy it. That’s it. Our review is three words long.

Mashable
Samsung's Galaxy's Fold is an ambitious push into new mobile territory, but it's still very much a dressed-up prototype.

Gear Patrol
It’s too expensive, and its flagship tricks aren’t quite life-changing enough to justify the price tag. But it looks and feels like a radical departure from the endless parade of identical smartphones. That’s key: the Fold itself might have stumbled, but the concept has promise. It’s just a question of who will execute it best.

Foldable, great accessories and many superlatives. The Samsung Galaxy Fold is a strong piece of technology, but perhaps it is only for those with a sensitive touch.
