The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is a solid mid-range device, but you can buy similar phones for less -- or better ones for not much more.

A forgettable product. It isn't bad, exactly, but also doesn't do anything particularly well. - Engadget

The Galaxy S4 Mini has the ingredients to deliver a very solid smartphone experience at a more affordable price, though the screen quality and battery life could flag compared to the real S4 deal. More serious mobile gamers and camera snobs should stick with the fully-loaded Galaxy S4.

As long as Samsung can keep the price sensible the Galaxy S4 Mini is going to be one of the big contenders in the mid-high end of the market and we'll struggle not to recommend it.

It's a fairly slick experience, but the 1.7GHz dual-core processor lacks the power of top-tier devices. However, you get an 8-megapixel camera on the rear as well as a front-facing 1.9-megapixel camera for those essential selfies, so Samsung hits all the right points.

Those looking for a cheaper Galaxy S4 will find it in the S4 Mini, which features the same design and some of its software tweaks. But a higher-than-expected price means this may not be the bargain phone you seek.

Overall, the Galaxy S4 Mini is a competent mid-range smartphone that delivers the core “Galaxy” software experience in a smaller chassis and at a lower price point. But the disappointing screen resolution and tiny internal storage might give buyers reason to wait for HTC’s rival One Mini.

Just like the S3 Mini before it, the S4 Mini is a phone for the everyman and everywoman — a phone that despite its nature can go the distance, is refreshingly easy to handle, and, most of all, works.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini more than makes a case for itself, with the upgraded software, decent battery life and 4G tech giving the Samsung Galaxy S3 a run for its money.

With the GS4 mini, Samsung has set the bar for mid-ranger, “mini” phones. Let’s not forget that the main rival, HTC, is about the release a One Mini too, later this year, if the rumors turn out to be true. That’s going to be an interesting fight!

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, the South Korean manufacturer hit a bull's-eye once again. The smartphone is aimed at consumers who are looking for high performance but don't want to carry around a device practically half the size of a tablet.
