Admittedly, this isn't the largest nor the most detailed picture we've ever gotten out of a leak, but at least it's something. A Google cached version of Samsung's official user agent browser shows an entry for a Corby II model, the successor to 2009's Corby -- a cheap, colorful full touchscreen device intended to do business in places where full-fledged smartphones could not. It's identified as the S3850, the S3850L, and the S3853, presumably for different markets around the world with different radio and software requirements, but beyond that, very little is known; if we had to guess, we'll probably get full disclosure on this one at MWC in a few days' time.

  • Samsung Corby Folder official, just for Korea so far

Samsung's Corby line has a reputation as a fun, simple, cheap, colorful range of handsets, and that trend looks to continue now that the Corby Folder has gone official -- in the domestic South Korean market, anyway. The first Corby with a hinge keeps it relatively simple (by Korean standards) with a 2.6-inch QVGA display, 3G data (HSPA or EV-DO Rev. A depending on the carrier), Bluetooth, microSD expansion, a 3 megapixel camera, and naturally, DMB mobile TV reception. It looks like it's available now on SKT, LGT, and KT in your choice of Candy Pink, Lime Green, and Blue Black (which is an oxymoron, as far as we know) -- no word, though, on when we might see versions in other markets.

  • Samsung Genio Slide slips onto Vodafone

Samsung's Genio Slide -- or CorbyPRO -- has just popped up on Vodafone's site for the sweet price of £free. The Genio starts its retail career as a QWERTY-sliding, 3.2 megapixel camera-toting, HSDPA-blessed Vodafone exclusive, but with these specs, we'd wager it'll stretch its legs soon -- though, not like as far as North America as it lacks the 850 / 1900 HSDPA we need and love. This new Corby also comes loaded with a large touchscreen, a bevy of messaging and social apps, Bluetooth, GPS, and a weak 120MB of RAM that can -- and must -- be upgraded to as much as 16GB. If you do pick one up, hit us up with your thoughts in the comments -- we're all about first-hand experience, don't ya know?

  • Samsung not done with Corby line yet, working on Folder model next

Samsung must absolutely love the thick gobs of profit it's making off its Corby models because it's wasted no time in building the line from a single device to an entire range of colorful, fun-loving handsets -- and the next to get roped in looks to be this SCH-W930, aptly named "Corby Folder." The model's destined only for Korea so far (you can tell from that SK Telecom logo in the upper right corner) with a 2.6-inch display, 3 megapixel cam, Bluetooth, microSD expansion, and -- like virtually all domestic South Korean phones -- DMB TV tuning. Following Corby tradition, it looks like it'll be available in a variety of two-tone schemes, but we don't have an exact date or price just yet so we're afraid your now-ancient Corby POP is going to have to tide you over for a few more days.

  • Samsung Corby Speed breaks new ground for odd phone names

We still think "Corby" alone is an odd name for a phone, but Samsung liked it enough to spin it into a whole low-cost series. Today, that series grew another notch with the introduction of the Corby Speed, which sounds more like a comic book hero (or possibly an overrated Olympic slalom skier with GQ good looks) than it does a modest touchscreen handset. It looks a whole lot like some of the other Corbys you may have seen out there, but the key difference here is that we've got Open Mobile-compliant CDMA on board, meaning the phone can be toted among India's CDMA carriers much as you would an unlocked GSM set. It's got a 2 megapixel cam, FM radio, 2.8-inch display, and your choice of three "fashion jackets" -- black, white, and yellow -- and if you're interested, you can nab it for 10,300 rupees (about $223) as long as you're willing to make the trek to South Asia.

  • Samsung keeps rolling with Corby line, adds low-end Corby POP

Samsung's Corby handsets are already targeted toward the lower end of the market -- relatively new territory for full-touch devices -- but they're looking to aim even lower with the new Corby POP, it seems. Having recently popped up on Samsung Mobile's official India site as coming soon, it should feature a 2.8-inch display, integrated FM radio (a must in the Indian market), and a weaksauce 1.3 megapixel cam (down from the Corby's 2 megapixel unit) for an extremely reasonable 7,000 rupees (about $151) unsubsidized. We're not likely to see this one in the States, but seriously -- wouldn't this make a great prepaid phone or backup?

  • Samsung adds CorbyTXT and CorbyPRO to Corby line

We'd figured the Corby (or Genio, if you prefer) was just a single model in Samsung's vast lineup that would soon be forgotten, but silly us -- it turns out the brand name's being spun into an entire range of products. Sammy's just added the CorbyTXT and CorbyPRO to the original model, bringing midrange portrait and landscape QWERTY options to complement the Corby's full touch configuration. Both feature a 3.5mm headphone jack for proper music enjoyment, but interestingly, only the CorbyPRO will have 7.2Mbps HSDPA; the CorbyTXT is left behind in the molasses-like world of EDGE. Look for the TXT to start showing up in stores this month with the PRO following on in November, and needless to say, you can expect both to be reasonably-priced. [Via GSMArena]

  • Vodafone nabbing Sony Ericsson X2 in November, Samsung Corby as 'Genio'

Vodafone UK never seems to have a shortage of exciting new models in the pipeline; right now they've got no fewer than eight biggies listed on their Coming Soon page, and while we wouldn't necessarily categorize every last one as "exciting," there are a couple doozies in there. Besides the HTC Tattoo that we mentioned earlier, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is following on a month later in November holding down Windows Mobile 6.5 with its positively mind-bending customized home screen. Also notable is the Samsung "Genio," known globally as the recently-announced Corby -- Samsung intended it as an entry-level full-touch phone for the younger crowd, and to that end, Voda looks to be selling it on prepaid. It's gotta be a tough call deciding what to buy next for subscribers, but if you ask us, that's a positively awesome problem to have. [Via CoolSmartPhone]

  • Samsung Corby sounds like a stuffed animal, is actually a cheap touchphone

The rumored S3650 Corby from Samsung has just been made totally, 100 percent official -- and no, it's not the name of a puppy, a type of cheese, or an Australian exclamation. Instead, the Corby is a youth-oriented full touch handset that puts an emphasis on social networking (it's got integrated support for Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, among others) and low cost over frivolities like 3G and a battery cover that won't burn your retinas. A reasonable sticker price is further assured thanks to the 2.8-inch QVGA display and a mere 2 megapixel cam, and considering the unlocked retail price of around €150 -- $215 or so -- they've more or less accomplished their goal. Look for it to hit in Europe later this month.
