Netflix is currently testing a feature that lets kids collect "patches" for watching shows, Variety reports. Those included in the test see red locks on children's shows that can get them a patch, which they can then earn by watching episodes of those titles. A Series of Unfortunate Events, Trolls: The Beat Goes On and Fuller House are among the titles through which viewers can earn patches. Netflix told us, "We are testing a new feature on select kids titles that introduces collectible items for a more interactive experience, adding an element of fun and providing kids something to talk about and share around the titles they love."

Fox hopes you'll binge-watch at theaters like you do on Netflix

Let's say you run a movie studio and notice that people would rather stay home and plow through the latest Marvel series on Netflix than pay through the nose for a trip to the theater. What do you do? If you're Fox, the answer seems simple: offer a taste of that marathon viewing experience at the theater. Hollywood Reporter understands that Fox wants to release three film adaptations of RL Stine's Fear Street books within three months -- a given movie would still be fresh in your mind when its sequel is hitting theaters. You'd be "bingeing movies" (as one tipster puts it) just about as quickly as the big screen format allows.

It's never been a better time to be a media addict. We're in the midst of a television renaissance, where writers are pushing the medium to new heights. It's easier than ever to get access to foreign and independent films. And the rise of streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, as well as digital rentals, makes it a cinch to watch just about anything we'd like at a whim. If anything, one of the biggest issues with the media landscape today is that there's simply too much to take in.

You'd think that HBO would make marathon viewing a priority in all its apps when its shows practically beg for it, but no. Until now, the HBO Go mobile app has asked you to play episodes one at a time. At last, though, the network has seen the light. Both the Android and iOS HBO Go apps have introduced the binge watching features you take for granted with Netflix and other streaming services. The software will offer the next unseen episode for a given show (or ask you to resume a paused show), and it'll automatically play the next installment without asking for your input.

Sure, lately it feels like we're living an episode of Charlie Brooker's tech-gone-wrong series Black Mirror, but what if we really were? This "Netflix Vista" short just posted by the company takes that idea to its preferred conclusion. Including technology reminiscent of the first season's third episode ("The Entire History of You"), it imagines a world where everyone has implants that allow them to augment reality with video overlays.

T-Mobile's adding a whole bunch more entertainment services to its 'Un-carrier' plans today, meaning lower data bills for customers that just can't bear to switch off Quantico while out and about.
