The pay-what-you-want package includes Steam-redeemable copies of Terry Cavanagh's Super Hexagon, Dejobaan's Aaaaa! for the Awesome, Hemisphere Games' Osmos, Secret Exit's Zen Bound 2, and Hitbox Team's Dustforce DX. Xbox One owners in Brazil can look forward to a shiny white Xbox One in early 2015, when it will arrive carrying a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection in its box. Microsoft announced the special Xbox One / Master Chief Collection bundle this week during the Brazil Game Show, later telling IGN that it will also release in "select additional markets." It will cost 2,000 BRL. Unfortunately, a Microsoft rep also confirmed to IGN that the company has "no plans" to release the bundle stateside. US residents who prefer white can still find satisfaction via the Sunset Overdrive bundle though, which will contain a white Xbox One and a copy of Insomniac's Xbox One-exclusive energy-drinking-mutant-apocalypse romp when it launches on October 28. This week's Humble Weekly Bundle is courtesy of IndieCade, the annual independent games festival being held in Los Angeles this week. The IndieCade 2 bundle features seven PC games and benefits both developers and the IndeCade Foundation, and it ends next Thursday, October 16. Three of the games are available to all donors: Cube and Star, Lyne and Ian Bogost's A Slow Year, an IndieCade 2010 award-winning game. Those that spend at least $7.25 as of this writing will receive Ibb and Obb as well as Proteus, the former as a "Best Friends Forever Double Pack" that includes a second Steam key to give to a friend. By dishing out at least $8, players will also get Dinosaur Polo Club's Early Access game Mini Metro and Incandescent Workshop's Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator. The latter is a multiplayer-only game, which is why it will also come with a second Steam key for fellow starship troopers to enjoy. The final tier gives players four more copies of Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator in addition to all the other games listed, for $17. [Image: Humble Bundle]

The final Halo 2 map being remade for the Halo: The Master Chief Collection is Warlock, Microsoft announced today. The multiplayer map was itself a remake of the Wizard map from Halo: Combat Evolved. Warlock, now known as "Warlord," joins five other multiplayer maps from Halo 2 that will return in the The Master Chief Collection: Ascension, Coagulation, Lockout, Sanctuary and Zanzibar. The map will include "additional cover, new skill jumps, and a new weapon in the center," according to Certain Affinity President Max Hoberman, former multiplayer lead designer for the original version of Halo 2. Microsoft first revealed the collection during its E3 2014 press event in June following rumors of the bundle's existence in May. Halo: The Master Chief Collection packs together Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4, and is Xbox One exclusive. It will also include formerly PC-exclusive maps from the first two games. The collection will launch on November 11. [Image: Microsoft]

  • GitHub's free student bundle gets you started on writing code

It's harder to score student discounts on programming tools now that many of them are subscription services, but GitHub has just launched a bundle that could make it far less expensive to get cracking. Its new Student Developer Pack gives you free access to the kind of tools you'd typically need to get a serious coding project off the ground, including the Unreal game engine, cloud hosting and GitHub's own code repository service. How much you get for free varies. Some partners simply offer credit, while others will give you a subscription -- in a few cases, for as long as you're still a student. The hope is that you'll like the tools enough to pay for them later, of course, but it's hard to knock an offer that leaves you with fewer school-related bills.

  • Indie Royale's ten-game Mystery Bundle could be anything

    10.02.2014

Well this is awkward. See, we were hoping to tell you about Indie Royale's new "Mystery Bundle," but there are only two confirmed games we can really talk about. We can say for sure that the ten-game bundle features The Sun at Night and Hero of the Kingdom, PC games packed with Steam and Desura keys as well as DRM-free download options available to buyers. While Indie Royale values the bundle at $70, it's available now for the pay-the-minimum price of 99 cents. Here's the catch: Indie Royale will reveal a new game in the bundle each day and will increase its price by 30 cents with every reveal, so those buying in today while the bulk of the games are unknown will get the whole lot at its lowest price. We hate to speculate, but what if Indie Royale is pulling an Oprah on us and one of the eight other games is actually a new car? What if one title is the leg lamp from A Christmas Story, or the concept of love? The possibilities are endless. The Mystery Bundle ends on Wednesday, October 15. [Image: Indie Royale]

A new PS4 bundle appeared on Amazon UK this week, packing LittleBigPlanet 3 in with the 500 GB console. While the bundle has yet to be confirmed by Sony, it is listed at £386.78 ($627.26) on the retailer's site. One other listing for the bundle surfaced last week on Amazon's Spain site, though without a price attached. LittleBigPlanet 3 is the next entry in Sony's popular platforming brand, first announced at Sony's E3 2014 press conference in June. The game will launch on November 18 PS3 and PS4. Likewise, the Amazon UK listing for the bundle includes a November 21 release date for the console package. We reached out to Sony to confirm the bundle's existence and whether it will launch in North America. [Image: Amazon UK]

Thom Yorke has a history of going against the grain with his online music sales. His band Radiohead first released In Rainbows as a pay-what-you-want download, and he pulled his solo tunes from Spotify to make a stand on royalty rates. It shouldn't come as a surprise, then, that he's once again bucking trends by launching his latest album (Tomorrow's Modern Boxes) as the first ever pay-gated BitTorrent Bundle. You can listen to its first song, "A Brain in A Bottle," for free; forking over $6 will unlock the remaining seven tracks. And for now, it's only available online through BitTorrent's peer-to-peer technology. You can buy vinyl if you'd like a hard copy, but you won't find it on regular download or streaming services.

Humble Bundle rolled out a new collection of games this week for PC and Android for a pay-what-you-want price, including Thomas Was Alone, Bridge Constructor Playground, Cubemen and Cubemen 2. Those that pay more than the average bid (currently $6.12) receive Small World 2 as well as the first three episodes of the Blackwell adventure games. Players will also get Small World 2's Royal Bonus DLC, which was previously only available to the game's Kickstarter backers. By paying at least $11, players will also score copies of Surgeon Simulator and Anomaly Defenders. The Humble Bundle PC and Android 11 collection will add more games next Tuesday, September 30 and ends on Tuesday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. EST (11:00 a.m. PST). Proceeds from the bundle support the Electronic Frontier Foundation as well as the Child's Play charity. Humble Bundle noted that over $46 million has been pledged to charities to date. • AT&T tempts cord-cutters with $40-a-month broadband with HBO and Amazon Prime

    09.23.2014

If you tried to count the number of times that we'd wished cable companies would offer nothing more than HBO Go and broadband, you'd run out of limbs well before you hit the total. AT&T, however, is following Comcast's lead in offering a cord-cutter bundle that offers us exactly what we want without any of that messy cable grift we normally have to pay for. The $39 a month U-Verse + HBO bundle offers U-Basic TV and U-Verse Internet Max Plus, paired with HBO and HBO Go but also, more notably, a year's free Amazon Prime subscription as well. The company is also trialling a package that ditches the U-Basic TV and HBO options and just offers you broadband and Amazon Prime for $29 a month, although that's only available in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco. The catch here is that once the 12-month contract expires, you're bumped up to AT&T's standard rates, but, hey, at least that's a year you don't have to worry about paying through the nose for 900 channels you'll never watch.

  • Driveclub bundle fills passenger seat with white PS4 in Europe

When European racers start burning rubber on Driveclub's streets on October 8, PS4-less fans will face one of the most timeless questions in all of tech upgrades: white or black? The PlayStation Blog has detailed console bundles for either shade, though what's under the cardboard hood of each box differs a bit. Those enamored with the Glacier White PS4 can steer a matching controller in a bundled copy of Driveclub for €439.99. The Glacier White bundle will appear in France, Germany, the UK, Greece, Israel, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Belgium and Luxembourg. Drivers after the standard shade of PS4 can pick up the Gamer Edition bundle, which offers a black PS4, two DualShock 4 controllers, a PlayStation camera and a copy of Driveclub for €499.99. Oddly enough, the Gamer Edition will be a bit more rare than the Glacier White bundle, with sales planned for the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium. If this the "Driveclub bundle" concept sounds familiar, a basic, European-only package announced in July will offer a black PS4 and Driveclub for €440. None of these bundles have been confirmed for the States yet, but you can always learn more about Driveclub via our extensive video preview, regardless of which market you're in. Microsoft announced three new Xbox 360 holiday value bundles today. The bundles are $249 and include an Xbox 360 console in addition to a variety of games and hard drive sizes, each shipping to retailers next week on Tuesday, September 16. First, players can choose the 500 GB Holiday Value Bundle, which includes Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 as well as a one month subscription to Xbox Live Gold. Walmart buyers will be able to get a "Special Edition Blue Bundle" version of that bundle, which features an arctic blue system and controller, seen above. The third option is the 4 GB Kinect Bundle, which includes Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports and Forza Horizon. The bundle is limited to Target customers and also offers one month of free Xbox Live Gold access. Ubisoft will bundle up three games in the Assassin's Creed series for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC for October. Dubbed Assassin's Creed: The Americas Collection in North America and Assassin's Creed Birth of a New World - The American Saga in Europe, the bundle combines three games that are set in the western world: Assassin's Creed 3, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Liberation HD. The bundle will launch on October 3 in Europe and October 28 in North America. Two more games in the series will arrive just weeks later on November 11, as well. Assassin's Creed Rogue will arrive at that time for Xbox 360 and PS3 and Assassin's Creed Unity will launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Americas Collection makes for a nice setup to Rogue, which Ubisoft said will bridge the gap between Assassin's Creed 3 and 4, explaining the game's lack of availability on next-gen consoles. Ubisoft did not provide a price for the bundle. [Image: Ubisoft]

Sony's hoping for a few more PS3 sales with a new Lego Batman 3 and The Sly Collection bundle that's coming to North America's retail shelves on November 11. Like other recent bundles involving the 500GB Slim PS3, it's $270 for the console, the dynamic duo of games and all the usual extras. As for the games themselves, The Sly Collection features HD remasters of the three PS2 entries in the stealth platforming series, namely Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. That's already out in stores, while Lego Batman 3 hits alongside the bundle on November 11, packing more than 150 DC Comics characters into its blocky escapades. They include Superman, Flash, the Green Lantern, and most importantly of all, Adam West, who isn't a DC Comics character (but kind of is at this point.) [Image: Sony]

A new promotion from Microsoft will offer prospective Xbox One owners a free game with the purchase of the next-gen console. Starting on Sunday, September 7, those that buy the system from a participating retailer in the U.S. will receive a free game of their choice, priced up to $60. The offer is applicable to Xbox One bundles as well, so those buying in to Microsoft's latest console can score two games with the Madden NFL 15 and Forza 5 bundles, for example, or opt to buy the console-plus-Kinect bundle instead. The free games must be disc-based as well, so digital-only games like Ubisoft's Valiant Hearts are off the table. Microsoft's Xbox One promotion runs through Saturday, September 13. Following Nintendo's earlier announcement of a new 3DS model, the Japanese gaming giant has also unveiled three new bundles headed to North America, including the 2DS handheld and a copy of Mario Kart 7. According to Nintendo, at some point in "early October," retailers will begin to offer bundles including a download voucher for Mario Kart 7 and one of three new 2DS colors: Electric Blue, Crimson Red or Sea Green. Despite the inclusion of Mario Kart 7, these new 2DS bundles feature the same $130 price point as standalone 2DS handhelds. Edit: This post initially stated that a standalone 2DS is available at $100, when it is in fact priced at $130. [Image: Nintendo]
