Humble Bundle PC and Android 9 received three more games this week, bringing the total number of games (appropriately) to nine. Those that spend more than the average sale price for the bundle, which is currently $3.89, get The Shivah, Savant Ascent and Syder Arcade in addition to the six games originally announced for the bundle. Each game is available through Steam for PC, Mac and Linux, via DRM-free download and on Android. Created by adventure game developed Wadjet Eye Games, The Shivah follows Rabbi Russell Stone as he surprisingly receives a generous sum of money to keep his synagogue open. Savant Ascent comes from D-Pad Studios and blends enemy-thrashing with the music of electronic musician Savant. A PS4 version of the game was announced in March. Lastly, Studio Evil's Syder Arcade is described as a "free-scrolling, multi-directional shoot em' up." Humble Bundle PC and Android 9 will end on Tuesday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. • Xbox One's 'Titanfall' bundle gets a price cut to $450 at Walmart and Best Buy (update: Amazon too)

The PS4 may have commanded an early lead over the Xbox One, partly thanks to a $100 price difference, but Microsoft is quickly narrowing the gap. Now, the company might just seal the deal with a discounted Xbox One-Titanfall bundle: both Walmart and Best Buy have cut the price to $450. The move is an aggressive one on Walmart and Best Buy's part: Microsoft only recently started selling the Titanfall bundle for $500 a week and a half ago. Now, just 10 days later, it's received a $50 discount. For those keeping track, that puts the Xbox One within spitting distance ($50) of the PlayStation 4, which doesn't even come with a game in the box. Subtract Titanfall's $60 value from the cost, and Microsoft at last has the cheaper console. So, which of you is buying? Update: Amazon is also getting in on the action. Though the Titanfall bundle is still listed for $499, adding it to the cart and using promo code "xiamazon" drops the price to $450.

This week's Humble Weekly Sale focuses on casual games developer extraordinaire PopCap Games, serving up downloadable copies of Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies, and other favorites plucked from the studio's back catalog. Buyers who pay at least $1 for the bundle will receive Steam and Origin copies of PopCap's pachinko-puzzler hybrid Peggle, match-three gem-buster Bejeweled 3, word-stringing puzzle game Bookworm, hidden-object adventure Escape Rosecliff Island, and sealife evolution sim Feeding Frenzy Deluxe. Chip in more than $6 and you'll also get the Game of the Year Edition of PopCap's tower defense strategy game Plants vs. Zombies, DLC expansion Peggle Nights, and color-matching puzzler Zuma's Revenge. PopCap owner Electronic Arts is donating all bundle proceeds to The V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Melanoma Research Alliance. [Image: Humble Bundle / PopCap]

  • Buy an Xbox One, drive away with a free digital copy of Forza 5

Come next week, Microsoft is kicking off a promotion designed to make an Xbox One purchase that much more attractive by including a gratis copy of the console's flagship racer, Forza Motorsport 5. Omnipresent Xbox spokesman Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb unveiled the offer on his blog earlier today. "Starting at select retailers next week in the U.S., a digital copy of Forza Motorsport 5 will be included with purchases of Xbox One for the retail price of $499.99 for a limited time," Hryb wrote, before launching into a hyperbolic, if not inaccurate description of the racer. Our own review of the game awarded it four of five stars, with Ludwig praising the game's functionality and attention to detail, but lamenting its anemic selection of vehicles and tracks - an issue that has since been partially amended by DLC additions. Unfortunately, according to Microsoft, this promotion does not apply to Xbox One consoles purchased as part of the upcoming Titanfall bundle. [Image: Microsoft]

  • Watch Dogs hacks into PS3, PS4 bundles, at least in Europe

When Ubisoft's technofetishistic action game Watch Dogs debuts on May 27 it will be available in the usual standalone varieties, but those without a console to play it on will also be able to pick up the game as part of a PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 bundle. The European PlayStation.blog announced the existence of these bundles earlier today. It fails to clarify exactly what will be included in these packages, though the entry does highlight the addition of "60 minutes of exclusive gameplay" to those versions of Watch Dogs appearing on Sony's consoles. Also missing from the report is any word on how much these bundles will cost and whether they're exclusive to European territories or will be released in other parts of the world. So far there's no mention of Watch Dog bundles on the American PlayStation.blog, and our attempts to reach Sony for clarification have been fruitless. We'll update this story when and if we find further information. [Image: Sony]

  • Get Forza 5 free with your new Xbox One (for a limited time)

Americans won't necessarily have to track down a Titanfall bundle (or move to Europe) to get a free game when they buy an Xbox One. Microsoft has announced that some US retailers will start including free digital copies of Forza Motorsport 5 with the console as of next week, offering gamers a flagship game no matter what system they get. However, the Forza deal will only be available for a "limited time." We've reached out for a clearer time frame, but it's safe to say that you'll want to hurry if you're a racing fan. Don't fret too much if you miss out, though. Microsoft's willingness to give away major titles so early in the Xbox One's life cycle suggests that this is the start of a trend -- it may launch similar offers in the future to help fend off some very fierce competition.

  • Mario Kart 8 getting a spiky blue limited edition in Europe

Nintendo of Europe announced a limited edition Mario Kart 8 is coming to the continent, and it includes a spiky blue collector's model that you probably shouldn't chuck at friends, even if you really want first place. Europeans can shell out for it when the racer launches on May 30, while Nintendo of America has yet to announce a similar edition as yet. Nintendo also announced a Mario Kart 8 promo that harks back to the series' beginnings more than two decades ago - and to what is still the best entry in the series according to people who are right. Yes, SNES classic Super Mario Kart is swerving its way onto the Wii U Virtual Console in Europe on March 27, and if you buy it before June 30 you get a £5.49/8 euros discount on the downloadable version of Mario Kart 8. Correction: Post has been amended to reflect the bundle is software-only. [Image: Nintendo]

  • Xbox One gets its first price drop, now £400 in the UK

    02.24.2014

The Xbox One hasn't been selling as well as the PlayStation 4 on a global level, and that's partly due to pricing -- in the UK, Microsoft's system costs a lofty £429 ($713) versus Sony's £349 ($580). That gap is about to narrow, though, as Microsoft plans to cut the Xbox's price to a slightly more reasonable £400 ($665) on February 28th. The company isn't leaning solely on that lower price tag to attract gamers, either. It's also releasing a special Titanfall Xbox One bundle (shown here) that includes both a download code for Respawn's shooter and a month of Xbox Live Gold for the same price as the regular console. Americans can expect this limited edition system to ship alongside the game on March 11th, while Brits should get it on March 14th.

  • Xbox One packs in Titanfall, drops price in UK [Update: Pre-orders open]

Microsoft will bundle Titanfall with Xbox One consoles starting March 11 in the United States. Additionally, the Xbox One's price will drop in the UK from £430 ($716.08) to £399.99 ($666.10). The price drop will go into effect this Friday, February 28. The Titanfall bundle will cost the same amount as the Xbox One system typically does in North America, $499.99, and can be seen on Microsoft's website. Players picking up the bundle next month will receive a download code for Titanfall packed in to the box, as opposed to a boxed, retail copy of the game. The bundle will be available for "a limited time only" at select retailers. Titanfall is the first game from Respawn Entertainment, the developer created by former Call of Duty veterans Jason West and Vince Zampella in April 2010. West left the developer in March 2013 after the duo settled with Activision in its Infinity Ward lawsuits in May 2012. Those looking for more Titanfall action should look no further than the six-person beta massacre our daring Joystiq editors took part in. Update: Players can pre-order the bundle through Amazon and the Microsoft Store. [Image: Microsoft]

Yoshi is getting a special 3DS XL bundle for his third shift of babysitting, Yoshi's New Island, according to a report by IGN. The report expands on UK retailer Base's listing for such a bundle - while IGN confirms the bundle's existence for North America, the report notes that Base's listing image is a "fan mock-up." The Yoshi bundle is due on March 14, sharing a release date with Yoshi's New Island. Base lists the bundle at £199, which matches the Zelda 3DS XL bundle's UK launch price. The North American version of the Zelda bundle sold for $219.99. We got our hopes up last year for a special Luigi 2DS last year, but that turned out to be the handiwork of Rose Colored Gaming. We got a Mario & Luigi: Dream Team 3DS XL bundle instead, which is almost as cool as the RCG's Luigi-engraved 2DS mod. Almost. [Image: Nintendo]

Dubbed the "Mixer Bundle," Indie Royale's latest collection features a wildly disparate selection of games united only by their sizable discounts. Included in the Bundle are Cherry Tree High Comedy Club, Alien Spidy, Miner Wars 2081, Dollar Dash, The Journey Down: Chapter 1, Cherry Tree High Comedy Club, Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre, Final Slam 2 and Party of Sin. Additionally, the Bundle stretches the modern definition of "indie" a bit to include both Duke Nukem and its sequel, Duke Nukem 2, games developed and published by Apogee Software at a time when developers releasing games independently was still the industry standard. As with all Indie Royale bundles, the price you pay for these games hinges on the average amount paid by other customers. As of now, all of this can be yours for as little as $4.78. If you decide to pay more for the Bundle, know that any purchases above $7 will be rewarded with a copy of Darkman007's "Chiptunes - 2014" album in either .mp3 or .flac format. [Image: 3D Realms]

    02.05.2014

Curve Studios' stealthy platformer Stealth Inc will receive a special Ultimate Edition version on PS4 in early March, the developer announced today. The bundle will include the base version of the game formerly known as Stealth Bastard as well as its two DLC add-ons, The Teleporter Chambers and The Lost Clones. The pieces of downloadable content add 40 levels to the game's already-existing 80. Stealth Inc launched on PSN for Vita and PS3 in July 2013, following its November 2012 launch on PC and April 2013 release on Mac and Linux. While it was Cross-Buy-enabled on PSN then, the developer noted today that the Ultimate Edition will not be free for current Stealth Inc owners to download. Still, it is "looking into ways we can offer a very significant discount to people who already own Stealth Inc," and will reveal as much in the coming weeks. [Image: Curve Studios]

Blink Bundle is currently offering a "Something for Everyone Bundle," which includes Steam games Gnomoria, Sideway New York, Archon Classic and Light of Altair in addition to an as-yet-unknown bonus game for a minimum payment of $1.99. Those that pay $4.99 or more for the bundle also receive Blockland, Eldritch, Lilly Looking Through, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Influx and Hero of the Kingdom, as well as another unnamed bonus game. You shouldn't need additional reasons to pick up Guacamelee (a game we awarded 4 of 5 stars) but just in case you remain on the fence, developer Drinkbox Studios has announced the content-packed "Guacamelee Bundle Fantastico." Headlining the Bundle Fantastico is the game itself, which is cross-play compatible with both the PlayStation 3 and the Vita handheld. Additionally, the collection includes both the Costume Pack and El Diablo's Domain DLC releases. The former offers new outfits for the game's protagonist which alter how the game plays, from granting you infinite stamina to reducing the power of certain attacks. El Diablo's Domain adds 17 new trials to Guacamelee designed to test the skills of those who have mastered the game's Metroid-meets-lucha libre controls. Rounding out the Bundle Fantastico are three Guacamelee themes for your PS3, 10 Guacamelee avatars, and a remastered soundtrack including 30 mariachi-inspired tracks from the game as well as four additional remixes. Drinkbox claims the Guacamelee Bundle Fantastico should appear on the Sony Entertainment Network later today. Once available, the bundle will feature a $20 price tag - making it $5 more expensive than purchasing Guacamelee by itself.
