Hey, guess what? You can buy Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Amazon today (and today only) for $25.99! What a minute -- why are we posting about a Brawl deal on DS Fanboy, of all places? Because, friends, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Amazon is offering up nine Nintendo deals today, which (if our guesses are correct) includes five DS games. Since all of the said games are published by Nintendo you might own most of them already, but if not, they're games that are definitely worth getting for cheap. So, all you stingy folks that are able to order from Amazon.com should check past the break to see what Gold Box sales are in store for you today.

The "Nintendo Icon" Amazon Gold Box has gone live, so it's time for those of you who can shop at Amazon.com to get your credit cards at the ready. With nine different deals on the table today, you might just find something that appeals to you.The "Deal of the Day" is Super Smash Bros. Brawl for $25.99, which really leaves you with no excuse not to buy it. The lightning deals are where the excitement is always at, though, and there are eight of them that will cycle throughout the day. Before we get into what's on the list, we must say that the sales are slightly disappointing. Maybe it's just us, but we wish Amazon had included more second-party titles. After all, such games are considered "Nintendo Icons," too. There's one title in particular that we feel is sorely missing -- but we digress. To see Amazon's hints for the eight lightning deals, just click past the break.

We'd have to admit, these controllers by Nyko are rather unfortunate looking. However, if you want a spare controller around in case a friend you don't like so much comes over, you can't beat these. The controller isn't without its merits; it is cheap, it includes a both a rechargeable battery and a AA battery pack if you don't wait for the controller to charge, it also claims to have "Six-Direction Tilt & Vibration." Keep in mind, though the controller is wireless, it isn't Bluetooth. The color of the controller is also determined randomly. Did we mention it is ugly?[Via Slickdeals.net]

It's hard enough to convince gamers to buy a roguelike, but asking them to pay $39.99 for a dressed-up remake of a Sega Saturn dungeon crawl? Fuhgeddaboudit! If pricing has been that barrier keeping you from exploring Baroque's Neuro Tower dungeons, look to Amazon for a deal-of-the-day discount. The online retailer has slashed $14 off Baroque, bringing it down to $25.99. That makes this Sting-developed, Atlus-published title eligible for free shipping!Make sure to read our review for Baroque first to get an idea of what you're jumping into! It's not a game for everyone!%Gallery-11716%[Via CAG]

  • Deal of the Day: 2 for $25 Blu-ray at Best Buy online

Blu-ray sales are a bit more rare after the end of the format war, but there are still some hot deals to be found. Here is the latest offering from Best Buy: 2 for $25. Two of these films are this blogger's personal favorites - Dawn of the Dead and Total Recall. The Masters of Horror series is also worthy of a look, although the quality of each director's feature varies greatly. There is even a pre-order for a small gem of a Western that has yet to be released.Keep in mind, however, this offer is only valid online.

  • Spiderwick Chronicles for $7 on Amazon

    06.06.2008

The Spiderwick Chronicles may not be the best game ever, but $7 is a decent price for this fantasy game. Sure it has its faults, but such things are usually reconciled by cheapness. Since Spiderwick is an Amazon "Deal of the Day" (along with the PS2, 360, and Wii versions, which cost a little more), it's a "take it or leave it" type thing. We imagine that most of you will choose to leave it, but those who take it will probably be able to find $7 worth of entertainment in this license-based adventure RPG.

Remember all the controversy over Manhunt 2? Now it might be time to see what all the fuss was about, as Amazon has it marked down to $19.99 (for today only). Most people who've played the game would probably agree that it's not worth a purchase at full price, but at half its cost you might be a little bit tempted -- if you're a crazy homicidal murderer, that is, or wish to become one. After all, those are the only kind of people who play Manhunt 2, right? Also, we think it's a bit of a strange choice for Amazon to offer as a deal. We wonder if they'll be getting an angry letter from Jack Thompson any time soon.%Gallery-3148%

  • MLB 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars gets fantasy price

DS Fanboy rather liked Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars (even if it's a mouthful to say). Those of you that are interested in this odd but fun baseball title should consider picking it up today, though, as opposed to any other day, so that you can take advantage of Amazon's temporary sale.Until 12am Pacific time, Amazon will have the game available for $14.99. If you don't mind outdated rosters, and you're craving a good, cheap baseball experience on your DS, this title probably won't disappoint. It may not be as weird and wacky as a Mutant League game (ah, if only), but it does offer a refreshing experience compared to some run-of-the-mill baseball titles out there. It's time to check out a certain Best Buy website to see this new Blu-ray movie deal. Basically, you choose two movies on their list and you get them for the price of one movie. We see a few pretty good movies on there, so your hesitation may cost you. This is a buy-one-get-one sale, more or less, so take advantage while you can! Hopefully before the end of the year, the cost of a Blu-ray movie will lower a little bit. We're very tired of seeing new movies costing $35 or even $40.[Oh, and a very special thanks for never$$hort posting the titles the other day!]

It's another Amazon Blu-ray sale bonanza! Never as awesome as the buy one, get one free sale from long ago, they regularly stick a buy two, get one free sale on select Blu-ray titles. This is a decent opportunity to expand your library. Well, we'd like to say that, but we couldn't find three titles worth purchasing. A lot have been around for a while, so most people have them already. Still, if you've been waiting for a sale to bolster your library, check out what they've got and let us know what you think!

With the release of Crosswords DS this week, will a $10 price cut compel you to buy New York Times Crosswords instead? Amazon's "Deal of the Day" happens to be everyone's favorite alf-loving crossword game (again). While $10 for any game is hard to resist, keep in mind that puzzles from the New York Times are tough -- make sure you have the mental fortitude before picking this one up. You might also want to note, though, that Mother's Day will be here soon, and this might make a nice, cheap gift for DS-owning moms.

  • Double Dose of Daily Deals: GRAW2 and Dark Sector

    05.05.2008

Today we're being ambitious enough to slam your face with two servings of awesome video game bargains. The first is GRAW2 -- located on Amazon for $30 new, or $20 used. People have said it's a great game, so if you think it's worth a measly $20, take the bet.The second deal is less of a deal but still something to consider if you're dying to play something new. Dark Sector has popped up on Circuit City's website for $40. Whichever deal you take is up to you, but either way you'll get a decent game. Heck, go ahead and take both deals for the price of a brand new PS3 game. It's almost like a two-for-one deal. Almost.

Just a reminder to all you friendly folks in the U.S. -- Amazon is having crazy DS deals today. The retailer kicked off its Gold Box sales awesomely, offering Advance Wars: Days of Ruin for $16.99. If we don't say so ourselves, that is damn sweet. You have until 12am Pacific time to bite on this, but we recommend getting it sooner rather than later because we doubt supplies will last.As for the lightning deals, we've listed them here (with our guesses for ones that haven't been confirmed yet). Keep in mind, these are in Pacific time, and each deal lasts for four hours (assuming they don't go out of stock): 6am-10am: "Will you answer the call?" - Confirmed: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for $18.99 10am-2pm: "Dazzle your unsuspecting friends with your magical prowess." - Confirmed: Master of Illusion for $14.99. 2pm-6pm: "Protect the Earth, destroy the invaders." - Confirmed: Tranformers: Autobots 6pm-10pm: "Your destiny awaits. Experience the power." - (Our guess: Naruto: Ninja Destiny) We suppose that with such an awesome "Deal of the Day," we can forgive Amazon for everything else being subpar. Keep in mind, though, that these are just our guesses. We'll update the post as other sales are confirmed.[Update 1: Master of Illusion was confirmed as the second lightning deal and was added to the post.][Update 2: Transformers: Autobots is the third lightning deal. And, would you look at that -- Master of Illusion sold out. Who would have thought?][Via CAG]

  • Tomorrow's Amazon Gold Box rumored to feature DS games

    04.24.2008

The word on the street is that Amazon's next game-related Gold Box special is going to feature five DS games, which (as you can imagine) we're very excited about. The first deal in the Gold Box is the video game "Deal of the Day," and will be made available tonight (technically tomorrow) at 12am Pacific time (or 3am EDT, if you're on the East Coast like this blogger). We know that's ridiculously late to stay up for a deal, but the beauty of it is that you don't have to. Whatever the game is (many are guessing Mario Kart DS because of the upcoming Wii game, but who knows!), it will be on sale for twenty-four hours or until stock runs out.The other four sales are considered "Lightning Deals," since the marked-down prices only last for four hours (or while supplies last). The first of these will start at 6am Pacific time, while the rest will be made available at 10am, 2pm, and 6pm.We have some ideas of our own, but what are you hoping to see on sale?[Via CAG]

If you're one of the people who wanted to get the Blu-ray version of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, we've got a special deal for you today, courtesy of Wal*Mart. Not only can you get the game, but you can get it bundled with the Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel thingamajig for a little under $100. Very little under $100. Still, taking the two separately and then comparing this bundle, it's a good deal and necessary for those racing game enthusiasts. Get on it!

Earlier this week, we informed you lovely readers that House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return was super cheap at Circuit City. Now Amazon also has the game listed at the irresistible price of $19.99. We really don't mean to keep shoving this game down your throats, but how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? Yet, if you didn't buy House of the Dead earlier, there's probably nothing that would motivate you to get it now except an even bigger price drop. It's also worth noting that Amazon's "Deal of the Day" is the Wii messenger bag pictured above. If you geekified hipster types were looking for a way to lug around your Wii, this bag for $19.99 isn't too bad of a deal. But, to be honest, there are probably better means that you can use to transport your console. That's just our opinion, though. What do the rest of you Wii aficionados think? Is it us, or has Amazon been a great place for Nintendo shoppers lately? In any case, today's "Deal of the Day" is Trauma Center: New Blood, the most recent (until July 1st!) Trauma Center game on the market. If Atlus decides to bring the series back to the DS for good, this may be the last time you get to operate with your Wiimote. The deal also provides pretty decent savings, as the game is marked down by $17 (meaning it will cost you $32.99). Is anyone planning on getting this today? If so, just make sure you order it before 3am EDT.%Gallery-4686%

If you've been waiting almost two years for a deal on Star Fox Command, today's your lucky day. While $30 might have seemed too expensive for a game that only got decent reviews, $20 probably sounds a lot more enticing. Since this is an Amazon "Deal of the Day," though, you only have until 3am EST to decide whether or not to surrender your wallet to your impulses. This blogger never got around to playing Star Fox Command, but do any of you readers have opinions on the game that you'd like to share with potential buyers?
