  • Deal of the Day: Blu-Ray prices dropping fast thanks to web promotions

So we're in the midst of a game drought. No big deal. By a lucky coincidence the PS3 can also play Blu-Ray discs. Did you know that? Now, with a recently introduced "3 for 2" promotion at Amazon US and DVD Empire, getting your favourite films in High Definition has never been so cheap. The list of films available in the promotion is limited to 34 of the less popular titles. Even so, there should still be some decent movies there worthy of your hard earned cash. Some of the more notable films include Casino Royale, Big Fish, Memento, Silent Hill and House of Flying Daggers. While it would have been nice to have seen Pirates of the Caribbean I & II in the mix, they seem to be selling well enough as it is.Alternatively, you can save 20% on all Blu-Rays and DVDs over at deepdiscount.com by using the voucher code "USATODAY". With a combination of these two promotions, you'll never have to pay full price for a Blu-Ray disc again. Maybe.[Update: Corrected wording. "3 for 2," not "2 for 1."]

    06.04.2007

While we'd love to get our hands on a 8GB Memory Stick Duo, our wallets cringe at the sight of its steep price tag. Thankfully, 4GB cards continue to plummet in price. Fry's is offering a Lexar stick for only $40, including shipping. 4GB is more than enough space, even for videophiles that like to encode their videos in full resolution. As these sticks continue to slowly decline in price, one wonders when a 8GB card will be as affordable as this.[Via IGN Boards]

Want to save some money on a new PS3? Of course you do. 'Itz 2 expensif!!11' is the most common complaint we hear from would-be PS3 owners. Well fear not, because dabs.com have three great deals going on their website right now. Unfortunately they're only available for people in the UK. The deals are as follows: PS3 60GB + Resistance: Fall of Man + HDMI cable = £399.85 PS3 60GB + Resistance: Fall of Man + Motorstorm + HDMI cable = £425.03 PS3 60GB + Resistance: Fall of Man + Motorstorm + Formula 1 + HDMI cable = £439.80 Not a bad few deals. Still more expensive than America, yes, but that's never going to change. A free game and cable for under the RRP of the console is nothing to sniff at. To top it off dabs.com are offering free delivery for the bank holiday weekend, so get your skates on and order before tuseday.

While Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters won't even be out in Europe for another week, those of you in America can pick up the game for a very modest $20 over at GameExpress.com. In fact, we Europeans should take advantage of the PSP being region free and nab us a great bargain too. To be honest, I'm surprised if any self respecting PSP owner hasn't bought it by now. You owe it to yourself to save yourself a bit of money on this great game.[Via CAG]

    04.30.2007

Your eyes do not deceive you: this Sam Goody store is showcasing an even lower price for PSP: $139.99, a mere $10 above Nintendo DS. What gives? Well, it appears this retailer is offering a $30 mail-in rebate. The offer ends Wednesday, which doesn't give deal-seekers too much time to take advantage of this pretty awesome sale. Find store locations here. For those no interested in picking up a new system, amazon.com is offering some nice deals on PSP cases. Sony's official travel case is going for less than $10, and the popular PlayGear Pocket is going for $13. While I find the hard cases to be too bulky for my tastes, it appears they're considered pretty standard fare by the PSP community.[Via Gaming Bits & CAG]

    04.27.2007

The cute, lovable beat-animals-with-a-drill game, Gurumin, has dropped to a measly $20 at Gamestop. The game is quickly attracting a cult audience, and at that budget price, you may want to figure out why. PSP Fanboy gave it a 7.5, praising its unique charm, but bashing its slow pacing.Capcom Puzzle World is also on sale, also for $20. Is Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo worth the price of admission? Some would say yes. As our review notes, don't expect much more than that from the game. Is a 5.0 much easier to swallow at this budget price? Quite possibly.[Via CAG]

This week's circulars are highlighting the PSP price drop, and some fantastic deals on some great Rockstar games. Sure, it's a port--but it's a mighty fine game on the handheld.Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is also entering the Best Buy bargain bin this week: it'll be available for a mere $20. • PSM brings DMC4 preview; gets cheap

    04.10.2007

As many of you are already familiar, PSM has scored a huge 16-page exclusive on Devil May Cry 4 in their latest issue (in newsstands today). Their preview of the multi-platform action game has us yearning for more: "It's safe to say that the generational leap in hardware has not caused the series to lose sight of what it is: pure, all-out, unforgiving action ... Many mainstays from the series, including colored orbs, air juggling, and the Euro-gothic aesthetic remain intact- only everything is rendered in eye-blistering high-definition at a locked 60 frames per second."While current subscribers are enjoying the dreamy pictures of Nero fighting demon hordes, the vigilant deal-watching group CAG has unearthed a fantastic deal for new subscriptions. 12 issues of PSM are now available for $5 at amazon.com, after instant rebate. While new subscribers are unlikely to receive the latest DMC4 blowout, one Lincoln is still a great deal for something to read when you absolutely have no access to PS3 Fanboy.

  • Deal of the Day: Ape Escape Racer only $15

    04.10.2007

You've played the demo: now you can buy this import racer for cheap at Play-Asia. While we didn't think too highly of the game (too slow for our tastes), there aren't really any other monkey-themed kart-style racers on our system. So, if you have the itch for a Mario Kart-styled game, at least it won't cost you a pretty penny.Honestly, we recommend picking up Bleach: Heat the Soul 2 instead. As a CAG forum user pointed out, it's only $25. The Bleach games don't differ too much from each other, so you won't feel like you're missing out too much compared to Heat the Soul 4.

    04.03.2007

Surprisingly, LocoRoco wasn't included in today's Greatest Hits update. Maybe it didn't sell enough copies? Regardless, import retailer Play-Asia is offering the blubbery platform game for cheap: only $14.90, plus shipping. Although this is an import version, this package offers English text ... even though of all games, this probably doesn't need it.[Via CAG]

    03.26.2007

This week, those of you with a love of saving some scratch (who doesn't like a little extra dough, amirite?), yet must still succumb to the lust for new games might want to stop in to your local Target store. They're selling a whole slew of DS games for $24. Games from $29.99 and up have been reduced in price, allowing those of you who've perhaps stayed away from some of those $34.99-priced games to get down off that fence and get to the purchasing. Games in the sale include Diddy Kong Racing, Elite Beat Agents and Spectrobes. And that's just what we're seeing in the ad!So, do you plan on taking Target up on their offer? WTF, or Work Time Fun, is the first game we ever reviewed on PSP Fanboy: "Although the game certainly features some stinkers, it's still an enjoyable game that takes advantage of the PSP quite well." At a budget price of $15 at Gamestop, the game's value increases quite a bit, making that 6.0 score we gave it a little easier to swallow.[Via CAG]
