From today through 5:59 p.m. EDT on Sunday, May 23, Battlefield Heroes players can input the following code to earn double the XP they normally would for playing: 5RH4-G9WR-MVV2-Q4E7. Just enter the code on this page, then it's off to the races -- er, the battlefield, rather. You've got to give it up to DICE, who has managed to keep its free-to-play shooter fresh through steady content updates -- the latest of which includes a new map and mode centered around jetpacks. And that, folks, is how you enlist over three million players. [Via Big Download]

Grab your beach towels, slather on the sunscreen, and slip on a pair of shades, for the summer is upon us! Just because we love MMOs doesn't mean we can neglect healthy seasonal traditions. Perfect World International is excited about the summer as well, and is ushering in an ocean's worth of new content for players to dive into a month early. If a makeover is your thing this season, then you'll be thrilled to know that you can finally switch between the Demon and Sage paths with a new conversion feature. Maybe you want to see what it's like to be a good girl or a bad boy, for once. The neglected Tideborn players won't be left out of the beach party, either -- they can now acquire Demon and Sage skills, as well as a few other new skills for the Assassin and Psychic classes. Grab a few pals for a quick game of "Kill the Nien Beast," as the grumpy Gus returns for another swipe at Archosaur. This Public Quest was so popular during the spring that it just had to come back for round two. Finally, for the remainder of the month of May, catch a wave at the Double XP Event -- hang ten with double XP, double Spirit and double items!

MAG is offering players some new downloadable content that is awesome in and of itself, and even better because it's free. The newest DLC is the Fast Attack Pack -- three new sniper rifles and Improved Light Armor. Yes, it is 100%, honest to goodness free and available in the Playstation Store now along with the other PSN updates, so be sure to add it to your account. That's not the only gift for MAG players this weekend, however. Players can put their new rifles and armor through their paces and earn extra XP in the bargain, thanks to the double XP weekend. The event lasts until 11:59 PM Pacific time on Sunday, May 2nd, and if you're a veteran who already has an XP boost: yes, the bonus stacks. It's important to note that you need to complete every game to enjoy the bonus XP, because it's not applied until the end of a match.

You know how you were going to drive upstate to attend your sister-in-law's wedding this weekend? Forget it. There's a MAG double XP weekend going down and you've been drafted for duty. According to the missive on the MAG site detailing this weekend's operations, the promotion is currently underway and will last until 11:59PM PT Sunday night. Veterans who already have an XP bonus need not worry: this stacks on top of their current modifier. Also, a word of caution: make sure you complete every match, because the modifier isn't applied until the end. We wouldn't want you evacuating the battlefield, leaving all of those delicious points behind. So ... what are you still reading this for? Go get yourself some points! For S.V.E.R.!

Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will host its first worldwide double XP weekend from April 2 until April 5 on Xbox Live, just a few days after the "Stimulus Package" maps are set to arrive. Unfortunately, in conveying this to Joystiq readers -- many of whom are statistically likely to be interested in the news -- we've expanded a perfectly concise tweet into a pompous, self-referential article and unfairly reduced the internet's available supply of letters and punctuation. we r rly sry try 2 do bttr in futr

  • The Daily Grind: Do double exp weekends draw you in?

Last weekend, EverQuest II just finished up with a double experience weekend while this weekend we can look forward to Aion hosting one on their servers. Double experience weekends seem to be a new trend in the industry -- a marketing opportunity that gives players a reason to pull out their characters and drop in on the weekend for a good time and some quick levels. So with all of these double experience offers being flung around, we wanted to get your take on these level up weekends. Do they draw you back into playing a game that you're not currently addicted to? Do they get you to play on the weekend when you normally wouldn't touch your computer? Or are they something you ignore completely, only taking advantage of by accident when you happen to log on during one of these special events? Take out your fingers, place them on the keyboard and start typing. When you're done with your thoughts, slap that "submit" button, stand up, and scream "I HAVE AN OPINION!!!!!" like He-Man has the power.

Since we're aware many of you get your MMO time in on the weekends, double XP events are always something we're keen to post about in a timely manner. This is especially true if you're stuck in a level spread that's seemingly impossible to grind past without developing a desire to redistribute objects on your desk in a forceful manner. Double XP weekends can be a real life saver for the jaded MMO gamer. That's why we're here to tell you that Aion is having one starting on Friday, January 22nd -- although make sure to take a gander at the official post, as it contains the starting time for each server timezone. The weekend ends at 8am (server time) the following Monday, so check which timezone your character's server is set to and plan accordingly. [Thanks, AterNox!]

In our rush to the yule late this past week, we nearly forgot to mention that Nathan Drake and Nathan Drake lookalikes (Drakealikes?) have the chance to earn double cash (read: XP) this weekend in Uncharted 2's multiplayer mode. Donning the ubiquitous red cap (and apparently two brand new invisible hands), those taking Drake online will encounter not just jollier looking foes, but also "double for all kills and medals," according to Naughty Dog marketing man Arne Meyer on the PlayStation Blog. The temporary XP boost kicked in on Christmas Eve (December 24) at 10AM PST and goes until tomorrow at 11AM PST, so there are still at least another 24 or so hours to shoot some of those dastardly Drakealikes in multiplayer. %Gallery-51151%

Now that Killzone 2's latest DLC pack, Napalm & Cordite, has released, Guerrilla Games is ready to take a break from it all. Guerrilla Games described the situation on the EU Playstation blog (it has since been removed), stating that working on the retail release, patches, DLC and official site updates has been tiring work, prompting a break to "reflect on what is actually out there." Uh, disappointed fans who crave new content? In less depressing news, the US PlayStation blog countered the EU team with some happier news, revealing that a double XP weekend is in full effect in celebration of the latest DLC pack, Napalm & Cordite. And, hey, if you haven't picked up any of the new maps yet, maybe the DLC bundle package is for you. Nothing goes better with double the XP than new maps and weapons, after all.Source - Yay! Double XP weekends are usually only reserved for Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War, but now that's about to change. For every enemy you chainsaw or shred with your precious shotgun (or just kill, frankly) in Gears of War 2 this weekend, you'll receive double the experience points. It all starts on Friday, May 15, at 5 AM EST, when Epic will throw the switch and let the rushing river of XP flow. You'll have until Monday, May 18, at 9 AM EST to take advantage, and the double XP will count across all playlists and match types. So, break out the WD-40, grease that chainsaw up, and get ready to show the Locust what's what.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

For those of you still stuck on that floating ring in space, know that your time spent trying to escape from its parasitic residents in Halo 3 this weekend will earn you double the experience points. That's right, it's another Double XP weekend, and Bungie has dropped word that this weekend's playlist will be Rocket Race and it's open for one and all starting right ... wait for it ... now!More than just a favorite of the Joystiq staff, Rocket Race is a custom playlist that tasks teams of 2 to ride through a series of checkpoints for, uh, points. One person is the driver, and the other has infinite rockets and must try to keep the opposing teams away from the checkpoints.

War is hell ... unless you're getting twice the experience. This weekend, Call of Duty: World at War is once again rewarding players with double experience for all multiplayer modes. Not enough for you? World at War is also introducing two brand new game types into its playlist rotation: Team Tactical and Mercenary TDM. Team Tactical is a 4v4 playlist that pits two teams up against each other in random objective scenarios, while Mercenary TDM does not allow for parties in favor of random team match-ups. New playlists have gone live today for both Xbox 360 and PS3 players. The Double-XP event will run from today, January 30, until February 1. Happy hunting.[Thanks, Rhinosaur]

When the Joystiq staff goes back to Call of Duty 4, it's usually because we're tired of getting our asses handed to us on a little silver platter in practically every other first-person shooter. Before too long we pine for the one game we've played enough that we're not embarrassed to admit to our team that we write about video games professionally. But, according to Infinity Ward spokesman Fourzerotwo, we'll have additional reason to go back Sept. 13-14, when CoD 4 will be offering up double XP on PSN and Xbox Live. Come, play with us, and tremble before our staggering (and doubly rewarding) moderate competence.

As promised, today is the day the City of Heroes is filled with the sounds of heroes and villains levelling up, as well as the ka-CHING of doubled Influence and Prestige rewards landing in their... actually, what do they keep that intangible stuff in? Never mind. Just keep the energy blasts and stony punches flying. It couldn't be clearer that NCsoft is beckoning old customers to reactivate, and given their recent announcement, this weekend is an ideal time to do so. If you previously only had CoH or CoV, you'll now have access to all the features of both. Returning players who are worried about having enough space to make all their new villain (or hero) characters can rest easy, as all players who've been around for a while will have earned some bonus character slots to apply to servers of their choice. Since the last couple of Issues went live, the content in CoX is arguably better than it's ever been, so we recommend giving it a fresh look.
