More and more places are getting their own Snapchat location filters, but what good are they? Well, now they link to further information about where your pals are sending evaporating updates from. The ephemeral photo app is calling them Context Cards. The video filled with very attractive twentysomethings below shows restaurant reviews from TripAdvisor, destination info for driving your own car or taking Lyft or Uber and will add your location to a map, Foursquare style. It looks like you can even make hotel reservations without leaving Snapchat, too -- all based on the location filter you pick.

Social networks have become an extremely important medium for getting younger generations engaged in politics, but they are also proving to be the perfect forum for playground tactics. Snapchat's location-based geofilters are particularly popular, and in the run-up to this year's presidential election, everyone from Clinton, Sanders and Cruz to outside organizations allied to one candidate or another have used them to push their agendas at debates, conventions and other events. The Trump campaign is kicking things up a gear today, though, launching its first nationwide geofilter attacking "Crooked Hillary" ahead of tonight's debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

You might have thought that Snapchat's Geofilters do a pretty good job of jazzing up your snaps when you're in an area blessed with them. Now, the company's rolling out new stickers you'll only be able to attach if you're in the right spot (like New York's pizza rat above).
Ben Woods08.03.2016Snapchat goes after the sports crowd with live score filters
If there's one key area where Snapchat could step its game up, it would be sports. And it looks like the social app's already doing something about that. According to TechCrunch, Snapchat has started rolling out a set of new geofilters called Live Score, which let users inside NBA arenas share pictures and videos with real-time score overlays. The feature's also said to work with "some other matches," but it's not clear what these are -- NFL or MLS, maybe? Either way, be sure to try it next time you're at a live sporting event.
Edgar Alvarez01.29.2016Snapchat outs location-based filters, but only for LA and NYC
We knew Snapchat was testing a feature that let users unlock certain filters depending on their location. At the time, though, the popular messaging service kept its usage limited to people in New York City. But, starting today, Snapchat is bringing Geofilters out of the lab and making it a little more mainstream, announcing that folks in Los Angeles and The Big Apple can now start using the feature full time. Snapchat Geofilters is rather easy to bring up within the app, as it only requires a simple swipe to the right on your device and voilà. Naturally, actually having access to these pretty filters will still depend on you being at a supported spot in one of the aforementioned cities. The rest of you Snapchatters shouldn't worry -- chances are you'll see Geofilters come to other places sooner rather than later.
