This week we have a fair amount of humorous adventures, including an ill-timed leak, success in disguise, a handy brick, a clever wolf, and even some snakes.Humorous Plot Dark Legacy Comics has seen an end to the NPC tyranny, as "Whitemane" exposes The Horace Hypocrisy. Shakes and Fidget discover The Altar. In LFG, an alliance is sought. It isn't going well. The Road to BlizzCon continues, with Now you're just being silly and The Dead Mimes, Part 1. Kissybear's friends are giving up; or are they? Teh Gladiators has alchemists for murlocs, and a statement is made on Yolanda. Humor NoObz has some insight on patch days, from the mobs' points of view. This week's installment of The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf almost didn't happen, and the announcement of the delay is worth reading itself. Fortunately, Episode 23: WoW TV arrived in time for Sunday Morning!

The first social step anyone has in WoW is your Guild. We've talked about how it can form the core of your player experience, for good and bad. But, not everyone's lucky enough to have a Guild ready-to-go at everything you might want to do, and what's more, ready at a moment's notice. Many Guilds (rightly so) will expect each members to show some individual initiative, and maybe brave at least a few PUGs. Well, a pair of tools have popped up recently to help you get set up with people outside the limited scope of your Guild. As a caveat: Both sites I'm presenting here are relatively new and untried. You're getting in on a ground floor, but we can't promise fame and fortune from them (yet).

This week we are going to approach the Sunday Morning Funnies in a new format. Hopefully this will improve reader understanding of the purpose of posting the artwork. Voting will be removed. Please let me know what you think, as well as other changes you'd like to see!For laughs: Sympathy for the Reaver almost makes you feel bad for using a fel reaver's corpse. Almost. GU Comics. Laughs and plot: Pinky built the gnomes some lodging in LFG. Sacrificial Lamb from Dark Legacy Comics involves a plot, some lambs, some scissors and a sandwich. Along Came the Murlocs opens up a mystery about the two murlocs on Teh Gladiators. When all is revealed on And Then They Were..., hilarity ensues. Well, maybe not for Vallant. Differently structured humor: We hated that boat neway from Road to BlizzCon, sees the lovable characters thwarted by their own shedding. Strangely, there is no fatigue produces an invisible man. On the latest Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf, we encounter March of the Dwarf. If you've ever wanted to see these adventures done like they'd do it on the Discovery channel, look no further.

This week we have a new comic up for scrutiny concerning Blizzcon, a comic depicting the humorous side of the Midsummer Fire Festival, and some pretty aggressive battle strategy. A new comic has sprung up about the adventures of two 'durids' attempting to get to Blizzcon. It makes use of a bit too much lol-speak for my tastes, but what do you guys think? The fellows of Dark Legacy Comics are going to require a Plan B if they hope to reclaim their place on the top of the hierarchy. Also, I am jealous of their murloc action figure. On LFG, the gnomes are coming to save the day! This episode actually stands well on its own. When stealth goes wrong. NoObz. Episode 21 of The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf is A Midsummer Night's Dream. Are you ready to vote?

  • Dive right into recruiting with WoW Lemmings

Recruiting isn't what I'd call a fun past time. Ever since server transfers exploded on the scene, it's not unusual for our guild's officers to spend 30 min to an hour per day scanning the WoW Guild Recruitment forums (Alliance and Horde flavors). With summer hitting, no major content in the immediate future, and what I'd like to call the 3rd Year Burnout affecting players, recruitment is more important than ever to keep a guild's progress going. There are a lot of options out there to find people LFG, but the WoW Guild Recruitment forums continue to be the largest source of potential class replacements. They're not perfect, though. For one, you'll spend more time trying to find the class you're looking for than actually posting replies to viable recruits. And with the speed at which new posts are made (20 minutes after you post, you're on page 5), it can be extremely daunting trying to keep up with them all. Join me after the jump to learn how WoW Lemmings has changed all that.

The summer season is just starting to gear up, and it seems that if you are not checking out arena season four, you're planning a trip, hosting a barbecue, or otherwise outside enjoying the sunshine. It seems that your favorite webcomic artists are no different!Though this week's selection is small, less choice should make for a tighter run. As always, feel free to suggest new comics in the comments section! From Awkward Zombie comes In a Blink, showcasing the perils of using blink as a primary form of travel. NoObz explores the art of questing and saving for gear and flight. Kissybear is still enjoying his new alliance toon. Teh Gladiators' battle continues with the ancient arena fighter. Someone tastes like chicken on LFG! It is time for Blanc to Meet Lance! Are you ready to vote?

This week, Sunday Morning Funnies includes ranting, crying, joking, and even some crazy old guys trying to fight each other. Prepothteruth from Dark Legacy Comics talks about predictability and improbability that can creep into plots. Extra Life speaks out against level 30 mounts, crying, I earned that thing! Shakes and Fidget meet The Guardian. You even get a joke, an intermission, and some explanations (sort of). You may have noticed that we've been talking about the Spore Creature Creator lately. While it isn't Warcraft-related in itself, many people have been using it to create sporelings similar to WoW characters! We even have a gallery. So, to celebrate, and pique your curiosity, I am including GU Comics' The Spore Creature Editor. LFG's Richard is starting to go a little bit bonkers. No no, more than before. In fact, he even fancies that he has a destiny. NoObz has a lovely father and son moment. Ding!'s Kissybear is taking a walk on the Alliance side of things. Teh Gladiators come upon an old, old arena match. On The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf, Shari begins ranting about the rampant use of the word "gay" by certain types of players. Are you ready to cast your vote?

This week we have everything from creative headgear to a court appearance and the illustrated consequences of being an activist in the face of ogres. Dark Legacy Comics shows that a new hat can make everything better! Extra Life has a fool-proof system for managing loot disputes. GU Comics shows us the sexiness of man orcs. What? I am not biased. Just because my main is a sexy man orc means nothing. Richard is a fancy-pants warlock. NoObz is all about impersonation this time around. Stealth team combat on Teh Gladtiators! The Scout Report shows just how fast dwarves can run when motivated. Are you ready to vote?

As always, feel free to post updates to your favorite comics, as well as new ones, so that they can be featured in this column! Ding! explores the nature of the warlock. Action Trip comics decided this week to Cheat Death. Fidget has a nasty experience after attempting to blink his way to safety. Richard is still missing, and the activities going on in his absence are not all that they seem on the surface. NoObz continues to explore some of the faulty MMO logic. Teh Gladiators struggle with their latest opponents. Disgraph finishes his orphan story. Check out Dark Legacy's latest! Are you ready to vote? Head through the break and pick your favorite!

Posts to the official Star Wars Galaxies forums have noted that Game Update 4 will be released during the upcoming week; very welcome news for Officers, Smugglers, and especially Commandos. There's more goodness coming to the game beyond next week, though. The official site looks to the primary feature of Chapter 10 in this week's Friday Feature. The new and improved SWG group search tool is a concerted effort by the developers to solve the game's pressing population issue. Check out the accompanying forum post for hints at the community's reaction. The new search functionality, which will extend galaxy-wide to reach as many players as possible, has numerous selectable criteria. On the individual player's side, there are several ways of advertising your interests. The role you want to play in a group, what kind of group you're looking for, even the possibility of gathering for social situations are all covered by the tool. The previous LFG tool had numerous drawbacks, including a limited range and now-useless search criteria. When actively searching for new group members, the tool offers a similar range of options. Professions, level ranges, and interest are all tweakable by the group leader. Pure utility, but interesting nonetheless.

This week, we have things that suck, users and abusers, opportunists, resourcefulness, and even some creepy happiness. You know that when drawings get emotional, entertaining things happen. If you get bored, you can even read the handful of poor reviews last week's lot was given! The NPC rebellion still holds, and Dark Legacy Comics's characters must fend for themselves. Some people just don't like video games. Extra Life. Shakes and Fidget walk into a dangerous situation and Fidget tries some magery. You know him and magery. NoObz shows you how to subtly convert your friends to the Warcraft ways. Supermegatopia shows us daily quests from the other side of the fence. There are two great comics from Ding! this week. Have you ever wondered about some of those people who queue battlegrounds and then immediately leave? Are they all queue hoppers? Other people have been showing around their orphans. Some, have been using their orphans. Teh Gladiators are meeting up with some old foes, and Trevor seems unusually happy. You could almost say creepily so. Disgraph has given us part 2, part 3, and part 3.5 of the Orphan Saga! I'd watch the orphan, because he rocks. Also, it seems there may have been some errors last week when trying to read part one, which I sincerely recommend you do, as I laughed pretty hard. You should check out the latest LFG. As a side note, which is not necessarily showcased perfectly in this week's comic as much as some others, I've been reading this book. Sometimes I read, you see. At the recommendation of several friends, I picked up a Terry Pratchett book, The Colour of Magic. Now, to continue my ramble, I have always enjoyed LFG's warlock the most, as I'm sure others might agree. To my delight, there is a warlock of sorts in this book that seriously reminds me of this character. Not in any way, shape or form am I suggesting they are related, but if you like one, you should like the other. /ends tangent. Vote for the best by passing through the break.

  • How to convince tanks to PuG

    05.15.2008

I'm getting back to WoW Insider after a month's real-life-related absence and have been spending some time playing catch-up on the site. One of the articles that caught my attention was Matt Rossi's popular "One reason tanks won't PuG," in no small part because I play a tank and my own PuG runs have been few and far between of late. My main, a Tauren Druid, respecced from balance to feral at level 69 because there were so few tanks on my server, and I literally spent months and months tanking PuG's to get experience and gear. During that period I saw everything from rogues rolling on +healing maces to warlocks needing on tanking cloaks, and I learned that you never can tell what you're going to get from a PuG. Yes, you'll get hunters who can't trap, mages who never resheep, rogues who mistakenly believe they leveled a warrior, and priests who Power Word: Shield you straight off the pull -- but you'll also find people who know their class well, or are in the process of learning just like you are, and who are fun to be around. I have now killed Illidan with a contingent of people who showed up to my PuG's back when I was a wee lolbaretank in quest greens and Heavy Clefthoof, so as a matter of personal experience I think PuG's are a somewhat underrated way to meet people who will later turn out to play crucial roles in how you experience the game.I don't PuG as frequently anymore due to time constraints and increased time spent leveling alts, but I still hang out in LFG from time to time for the pure enjoyment of meeting new people. Yes, it is often difficult to PuG tanks and healers (I would submit, as someone who typically tanks or heals in dungeons, that it is also difficult to PuG skilled DPS), but a lot of people could make it easier on themselves than they do. If you're having problems finding a tank or healer for your PuG's, try these.

From the training of a rat to a meeting of the altaholics, to a little bit of man lovin', this week's comics progress storylines, provide gaming commentary, and bring out the laughs. This week, The Scout Report teaches us a bit more about Ogre culture. On Teh Gladiators, Trevor tries to train his hunter pet, the valiant rat. Monkey Punchers goes all-out for the Man Love this week! This week's LFG was definitely hilarious. I won't even comment, so as not to spoil it. Shakes and Fidget are out for Rock 'n' Roll this week. Dark Legacy's NPCs are getting Stinking Rich. Okay so WoW isn't as customizable as the generic MMO featured in this week's NoObz, but I think we can all relate. Besides, Wrath is bringing us new hair! Ding! talks about altoholics. Quite probably my personal favorite this week, The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf, Episode 14: Orphan Saga, Part 1. 05.04.2008

This week we have an NPC coup, a battle of the bands, two strikes, and of course, the much beloved mischief. In the Scout Report, #37, a new activist wanders onto the scene. From the Noob Comic comes Area Effect. Sometimes, a mage just can't help himself. Messy Cow has some adventures in Skinning, although she should have been healing. The best part? The "rouge" who was stealing corpses! Teh Gladiators battle their stealthed opponents, and the Murlocs heat up the scene. This week, the commentary beneath the comic is decidedly worth the read. Sockpuppet holds the "Azertoh Battle of the Bands." Yes, I said "Azertoh." Want to see a raid with the characters from Real Life? NoObz #9 brings you to a special mob-held meeting of sorts, where you get to meet the gray kangaroo (wolf). The old computer has finally broken him. A friend of Monkey Punchers is finally Losing It. In LFG this week, my favorite character breaks into a song and dance! Shakes and Fidget have made their Preparations, and with proper hilarity ensuing. This week on Dark Legacy Comics, the NPCs launch plans to take over the world, through Operation: Horace. From Action Trip comes Impressive Knowledge. Seriously, kids these days really know their stuff! Sure, they might lose a finger or a hand, but then they'll know which faction they're dealing with, right? This week we have some exciting developments, from the infiltration of a Horde town, to Sunwell progression, to a pet dragon. As always, I welcome suggestions for comics we've missed, so post away in the comments section! We even have a new one this week. From Action Trip comes What's the opposite of Undead? Horde PuGs a battleground this week in Ding! NoObz #7 is highly recommended! Thanks for the tip, Gene. Cluck Cluck from Dark Legacy Comics teaches us the joys of cooking. Damage Done from Extra Life is funny on too many levels. Shakes and Fidget are going on an Infiltration mission! Fun with the Bloodrage from LFG. Monkey Punchers explores the ups and downs of Minimum System Requirements. Teh Gladiators get new teammates. Episode 11: The Waiting is the Hardest Part. Disgraph has some adventures when the Shattered Sun badge loot vendor becomes available. The Scout Report meets Mister Snuggles. Are you ready to vote? Although we are in an awkward period, with no new content to look forward to until Wrath of the Lich King lands, things are not as dull as one might think. With arena season 4 just around the corner, leaking expansion information, and the exploration and mastery of patch 2.4 content still underway, life in the World of Warcraft is still heating up. To add to the entertainment, we have a new comic or two, as well as several with plots that are gearing up towards something great. Node from Dark Legacy Comics has fun with the new(ish) mini-maps. Just Walk Away... from Extra Life. The Map from Shakes and Fidget. I Would Guess from the folks at GU Comics. LFG #138. Puns bring the silly. Murphy's Law from Monkey Punchers. Ding! Hunters are smooth talkers. The first match from Teh Gladiators kicked off, with a surprising twist. If you didn't catch our recent highlight of The Scout Report, then you might not have caught yourself up on the storyline. Trust me though when I say that it is worth it! Although I recommend pawing back to the beginning of the archive, for the current storyline to make sense, you need only start here. If you're ready to vote, head on through the break!

Whether your "holy grail" takes the form of your freedom, an end to loneliness, treasure, glorious achievement, or that coveted raid spot, you're sure to find entertainment this morning. Team Speak + Air Traffic Control = Bad from Action Trip. This one is pretty self-explanatory! Saved? from the Adventures of Blanc. You no take candle! from Dark Legacy Comics. Anything with that title you know just has to be awesome. A Deadly Plan from Shakes and Fidget. LFG #136. I have to say that I try each week to bring you a selection from LFG that can stand alone, so that even those who do not follow it dutifully can be entertained, or even motivated to check it out. As such, I'm proud of this entry; it's funny, and very noob-friendly. Ding! supports completionist ways. Sort of. Let's get introduced to Teh Gladiators. If you failed to read the intro, well then you fail. Carrying on for the rest of you, here's the first and second comic. Don't forget to read the commentary beneath! It's worth the extra three seconds of effort (seriously). From The Adventures of Messy Cow comes "Raid Life." Part one. Then, part two. Who recognizes this guy anyway? Intense Matchup from Action Trip. I just couldn't resist! Press through to vote on your favorite!

  • A warrior and his spirit gear

    by

    04.05.2008

For some reason on my home server, Eldre'Thalas, when folks see a tank standing around in Shattrath without anything to do, they immediately start sending tells asking if I want to go tank such-and-such an instance for them. I don't mind it when my friends or guild mates do it, but it does get a little annoying when complete strangers do it constantly. So I've come up with a solution: spirit and intellect armor. Whenever I'm doing anything other than fighting, I'm wearing bright yellow spirit and intellect armor that I got off the AH. I spent about a hundred gold on this dastardly set. It looks awful, it smells awful, and it's a great repellent for annoying unsolicited LFG tells.I got the idea from looking at people's gear who are apping to my guild. Some of it was just plain nuts – spirit gear on Warriors, "of stamina" gear on Priests, things like that. Of course, they might have just been logged out in that gear the same way I'm logged out in mine right now. But when you're apping to a guild and one of the requirements is to log out in PvE gear for the next week, well, too bad so sad for them.

Sunday Morning Funnies has quite the line-up this week, with even more on the horizon for next week. As always, don't forget to leave a tip about a WoW-themed comic you know! A new WoW-themed comic from Action Trip. I would explain but I think I'll just let you click through and see for yourselves. Regrettable Choice from Extra Life. Just mentally scratch out "Youtube" and replace it with "WoW Community Forums." A New Beginning with Shakes and Fidget. It comes complete with gratuitous Bar Maiden. Feel like an economic squabble? GU Comics has Just a Little Suggestion for Activision and Gibson. If you'd rather chew on politics, LFG lays out the facts of a prison break. Manic Graffiti has some insight on the Frostmourne Replica. That's pretty self-explanatory, but if you'd like more information, check out our coverage and opinions. Ding! has an opinion on Tauren hunters. From Teh Gladiators comes an intro, or a prequel, to soon-to-come shenanigans. The Brotherhood of the Hat from The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf. Head through the break in order to vote on the one you liked best.
