Released in 2014 and quickly snapping up the title of Apple's Game of the Year, Monument Valley will be adapted into a movie in a joint venture by Paramount Pictures and Weed Road Pictures.

Gundam is heading to the big screen -- and, yes, we're talking about a live action adaptation, not a movie-length anime movie you can see in theaters. Legendary Entertainment and Gundam's creator, Japanese animation studio Sunrise, have announced that they're teaming up to create a film version of the classic robot saga at the Los Angeles Anime Expo. The franchise was established in 1979 with the animated series Mobile Suit Gundam, which helped popularize the "mecha" genre. It grew over the years to encompass several anime series, manga and video games, remaining relevant and popular even to this day.

According to Deadline, Street Fighter fans should keep an eye out for a new TV series currently in development from Entertainment One. The producers of the new show were previously involved with the web series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, and now we'll find out what they can do for TV. Capcom's Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono said: "After a long search, guided by the team behind Assassin's Fist, we are delighted to be partnering with a company with the outstanding TV experience of Mark Gordon and eOne. They have the credentials to help us launch a faithful adaptation of Street Fighter as a major TV series." Stuntman Joey Ansah has come a long way from 2010's Street Fighter Legacy short, and is one of the executive producers on this project. The new show is based on the plot of the Street Fighter II game, as Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li chase down M. Bison and become involved in the World Warrior fighting tournament. Fortunately, the team's track record suggests they'll be able to give this project the treatment it deserves, so we don't end up with a Street Fighter: The Movie (The Game) situation.

Apparently, that 'Monster Hunter' movie is still happening

Films based on video games really don't have the best track record. From 1993's Super Mario Bros. to this year's Warcraft, these movies almost always seem to lack whatever it is that resonates with fans of the games they're based on. What's the next potentially disappointing adaptation? Monster Hunter, apparently. Speaking at Tokyo Game Show, Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto revealed that a live-action adaptation is currently under development.

Sonic to star in a 'live-action and animation hybrid' movie

If you've played the most recent Sonic the Hedgehog games, you might be wondering how life can get any worse for the blue blur. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was universally panned by the press, and previous efforts such as Lost World and Unleashed didn't fare much better. How could his reputation be dragged any lower? Well, perhaps with a film. Not just any film though -- a worrying "live-action and animation hybrid." The project, which is currently still in the planning stages, was revealed by Sega president and CEO Hajime Satomi in an interview with The Worldfolio.

Look past the typical FCC dowdiness and you'll notice a Belkin-made remote shutter release for the iPhone. We have no notion of price or availability, but the regulatory paperwork does at least reveal how it works: the controller triggers still or video recording via Bluetooth and the accompanying LiveAction app, and it also houses a detachable stand for propping your phone up on a "variety of surfaces." Stop-motion shenanigans spring to mind, but the more obvious use is for group photos -- and you might consider pairing it with one of these to avoid cropping heads.
