If you haven't heard of Minho Kim, I'll forgive you -- I hadn't heard of him either until the name showed up in the list of keynote presentations at the Austin Game Developers Conference. Kim is Nexon America's director of game operations, and while Nexon hasn't made a big impact in North American markets, their free-to-play, micro-transaction driven online games (the best known of which is probably MapleStory) are a hit in Asia and Europe. Kim's keynote launches the final day of the conference with a discussion of micro-transactions. Joystiq is on-site waiting for festivities to begin, so keep reading for a play-by-play.

That's right, kids, Apple is holding a special event today at NAB (the National Association of Broadcasters) get together in Las Vegas. Will they announce something? Will they just show off existing stuff? I have no idea, but considering 8 core Mac Pros were just released I am thinking there won't be too much hardware news. My money is on a new version of Final Cut Studio. Our friends at Engadget will be liveblogging the event, and we here at TUAW will be posting about whatever is announced as soon as it is announced (assuming there is anything post worthy, of course). The event kicks off at 2pm EST.Update: Engadget has posted their liveblogging post. We're at Microsoft's "The Evolution of RPG Development" panel, ready to liveblog the goings on. The panelists are Ray Muzyka (Bioware, Mass Effect), Hironobu Sakaguchi (Mistwalker, Blue Dragon), and Peter Molyneux (Lionhead, Fable 2) and is moderated by GameHead's Geoff Keighley.4:35pm PT - Keighley starts by asking these RPG icons what the difference is between older and newer RPGs, and how they've evolved. Sakaguchi: The graphics allow for players to see the true emotion behind the character.Molyneux: RPGs are the first game I ever played, Wizardry on the Apple. I lost my first girlfriend to it. The graphics have changed. It's not simple and is much more significant, though the structure has not changed. There have been some evolutions but they're still recognizable back then and now. There are opportunities for changes. "I don't know who's going to do it."

You didn't think we were content to just liveblog the keynote did you? In our quest to bring you all things Apple, we'll also be liveblogging the "good news" 2007 financials call on Wednesday, 2pm Pacific time. Not so sure it'll be good news? OK, sure, the Zune probably bit into Apple's market share a bit (ahem), but according to Steve-o's chart last week, music sales are strong, and we hear Mac sales ain't too shabby. The stock seems to be doing pretty well too. Stay tuned, true believers!

As you read this post I am high above the earth hurtling my way to San Francisco. Once I'm on the ground, and meet up with the rest of the TUAW Macworld team, the fun begins. Sadly, we have decided to ax the chatcast in favor of channeling our energies into liveblogging the heck out of the Keynote. The Keynote is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th from 9am to 11am PST. Look for our coverage to start a little before 9am PST.
