Nokia Lumia 900 coming to retail on March 18?
Did the "next few months" announcement from the unveiling of the Nokia Lumia 900 leave you wanting? Perhaps a March 18th pronouncement will sate your own personal gadget knowledgebase. That's the date being tossed around by Windows gurus Paul Thurrott and Mary Jo Foley, who joined forces on TWiT to discuss the presence of a March date in the latest Nokia developer newsletter. But that wasn't good enough for Paul, who said the specific date is March 18. Go ahead and mark your calendars, but we'd recommend you use pencil -- just to be safe.
Nokia confirms Lumia 900 doesn't have Pentile display
While we knew the Lumia 900 would have "Clear Black" AMOLED display, what we didn't know was whether it would sport a Pentile Matrix layout (like the Lumia 800). Well, fret no more friends, it's official -- the Lumia 900 has a full battery of subpixels in an RGB array. Nokia confirmed as such earlier via it's US Twitter account in reply to a user's inquiry. Between LTE and the RGB panel it looks like Nokia has its first genuinely lust-worthy Mango device on its hands.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is still fresh in our mind from this afternoon's announcement, and fortunately it didn't take long for us to get our hands on the new LTE-laden device. The newest phone in the Lumia series is packing a 4.3-inch ClearBlack display, 1.4GHz single-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, and sports a 8MP Carl Zeiss f/2.2 camera with LED flash that's capable of cranking out 720p HD video capture, as well as a 1MP front-facing camera that uses f/2.4. The 1,830mAh battery is inclusive due to the phone's unibody polycarbonate build and can't be removed, but we're happy to see that the Lumia 900 will be able to crank out the LTE for a decent amount of time.You won't find a huge difference in outside looks between this and its predecessor, the Lumia 800, aside from the presence of a frontward-facing camera and the obvious larger display. The larger phone was still comfortable to hold in our hands, and felt just as solid as ever with its polycarbonate build. When it comes to firmware, we weren't given the luxury of playing much with the handset since it was an early prototype model that is nowhere near its final status. The SIM card wasn't activated either, so we were unable to take its LTE capabilities for a test drive. Nokia and AT&T haven't been able to confirm exactly when we can expect the new device to actually be available in stores, nor the pricing at which it can be purchased with, so we're just going to have to dream of the phone in our slumber at night; at least we know exactly what to dream about, right?
Nokia Lumia 900 official: 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED, 4G LTE, exclusive to AT&T
We're here at Nokia's CES 2012 press announcement and we've got the confirmation that everyone's been waiting for: the Nokia Lumia 900 is real. It looks like the rumors were true: the AT&T exclusive phone is packing a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, 512MB RAM and Mango. Camera-wise, there's an 8-megapixel camera 'round back with a 28mm f/2.2 Carl Zeiss lens (likely the same as on the Lumia 800) with a dual-LED flash and a front-facing f/2.4 wide-angle lens that's great for wide angle shots. The polycarbonate-bodied 900 has a single-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU inside, but the big surprise is that it's packing an LTE modem for all that high-speed internet goodness. There's a 1840mAH battery rated for seven hours talk and 300 standby. It'll arrive stateside in the next couple of months in those lovely black or cyan colors we've come to love from the 800 and no -- there's no word on pricing yet, but Stephen Elop did say Nokia would be "aggressive," make of that what you will folks. Stephen Elop: Nokia Windows Phone coming to AT&T, will support LTE
Stephen Elop has just taken the stage at AT&T's Developer Summit here at CES, taking the opportunity to confirm that an LTE-enabled Nokia Windows Phone will indeed be heading to the carrier. The exec didn't offer too many details beyond that, but promised to reveal more at his company's event this afternoon, scheduled for 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT. Could it be the Lumia 900 we've been expecting? We'll have to wait a little longer to find out, but will be sure to keep you posted as soon as we hear more.

Lookie here -- The New York Times has confirmed that Nokia's much-rumored Lumia 900 (800 shown above) will be coming to AT&T, with official details expected here at CES. There's no word on where it'll be hawked outside of the States, but it looks like T-Mob's Lumia 710 is about to get upstaged. We're told to expect more information here on Monday, and in case you had any questions, Elop was quoted as affirming that no Android plans are in the pipeline. Shocker. As for rumored specifications, there's a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchpanel, half a gig of RAM, Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) and an 8-megapixel shooter. Nokia Lumia 900 teases us once again, makes an appearance on benchmark records
This thing ain't exactly a secret anymore, so why not add to the rumor mill to get our juices flowing for next week's CES? Yes, the Nokia Lumia 900 was caught looking through Windows Phone apps once again. This time, it became the latest addition to WPBench's database. While it didn't lend any credence to rumors that the AT&T-bound version will be nicknamed the Ace, we at least have another piece of evidence to convince us that the newest entry to Nokia's Windows Phone pursuits is indeed real and likely on its way real soon. We're keeping our fingers crossed for something juicy this week.
AT&T-branded Nokia Ace possibly leaked in holiday card
The grain of salt we're taking this with is roughly boulder-sized but, we have an image of what may very well be the AT&T Nokia Ace -- the rumored LTE-sporting Windows Phone from the Finnish phone maker. It seems that someone sent out a holiday greeting featuring a phone that looks a heck of a lot like the Lumia 800, except it prominently features a Ma-Bell logo, a 4G icon and what appears to be a front facing camera. Of course, what has also been referred to as the Lumia 900 could just as easily be a chop job -- and not a particularly difficult one to pull off at that. Swisscom slip-up hints at Nokia Lumia 900 coming end of February (updated)
Is the Lumia 900 a real device or an Arctic mirage? We've seen clues that Espoo might be working on a bigger Windows Phone to complement the Lumia 800 and 710, to the point where the strange Twitter conversation above doesn't strike us as totally surprising. A customer named Xavier Hahn tweeted support staff at Swiss operator Swisscom, to ask about a timeline for the "Nokia Lumia 800 or 900." Apparently forgetting that the 900 is an unknown and unannounced device, Swisscom responded that the 800 is expected on its shelves by the end of January, and the 900 at the "end of Feb." Of course, this could be a genuine mistake rather than a leak, and when we asked Nokia about it, its spokesperson refused to comment on "market rumor or speculation." Nevertheless, this little episode surely deserves to be filed away in our burgeoning Nokia 900 evidence cabinet. Update: Swisscom staff tweeted again saying that they made a mistake: the Nokia 710 is coming at the end of February and they've actually never heard of the 900. We're still keeping the cabinet though, even if this particular snippet has to be filed somewhere else.
Nokia Lumia 900 and Champagne pop up in dev records, possible Tango build makes appearance
Nokia's field testers must be avid fans of the Times of India Windows Phone app, because unannounced phones like the Lumia 900 and Champagne are beginning to show up in its stats. This tells us nothing of specs, but here's what we learned: both phones are real, and they're not the same exact device. The app also discovered a new build of Windows Phone called 7.10.8725 in its system, a hint that one of these two handsets -- likely the Champagne -- may be running on the next OS update known as Tango. Does this mean the Champagne is destined for emerging markets? We're hoping to find out in Vegas at CES, just a month from now.
