  • Humble Bundle's Origin package offers up some of its biggest games yet

Humble Bundle has had a pretty good run with its game offerings so far, but its newest grouping of Origin titles provides some of its biggest names yet. Included in the bundle are Mirror's Edge, Medal of Honor, Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, and Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box (most of which are available on Steam). The games can all be purchased for $1, but paying over the average (currently $4.54) will also net you Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 Starter Pack. Buying the bundle won't just score you some sweet games; you'll also be contributing to a few good causes, as Electronic Arts is donating its share of the proceeds to charities like the Human Rights Campaign, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. For more info, check out the video after the break or follow the Humble Bundle link below.

  • EA's Battlelog app updated for iPhone 5, Medal of Honor Warfighter

EA's Battlefield stat-tracking iOS app, Battlelog, just received a new update that will make iPhone 5 owners smile. The refresh adds full support for the iPhone 5's larger display, as well as the new ability to compare your in-game standing with that of your friends. On-the-go soldiers who recently replaced their Battlefield 3 habit with a Medal of Honor: Warfighter habit will be happy to hear that "initial support" for the new title has been added to the app as well. So far, this appears to just give you the ability to check basic stats and leaderboards, though given EA's choice of wording for the announcement, we imagine this will be fleshed out further in the future. • PS3 goes the PSP route to thwart jailbreakers: Medal of Honor requires latest firmware

It's not quite a common practice just yet, but it looks like the PlayStation 3 could be following in the PSP's footsteps in order to get around folks jailbreaking the device. As MCV reports, anyone buying Electronic Arts' new "Medal of Honor" game will first have to update their PS3 to the latest 3.50 firmware (conveniently provided on the disc) before playing -- that firmware also, of course, has the convenient side effect of blocking the ability to jailbreak the console. No word on any other games that will follow suit, but we have sneaking suspicion that this is something PS3 users will have to get used to.

  • Fallout, Medal of Honor devs form new studio

A new development studio has formed in Pasadena, CA, co-founded by former developers of titles like Fallout and Medal of Honor. The new studio, named WhiteMoon Dreams (huh), will focus on creating original IP for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii, but is also open to working with developers on titles in need of assistance.Heading the studio are Jay Kootarappallil -- a former EA technical art director for titles like Ratchet & Clank and Medal of Honor -- and R. Scott Campbell -- lead concept and game designer on Fallout. At the moment the team is working with a "major Japanese publisher" on an unannounced title. The team hopes to focus on innovative gameplay, and "new directions in the visual medium." We wish the newly-formed studio the best of luck in its endeavors.

For impressions of the PSP version of the game, check out PSP Fanboy. The Medal of Honor Heroes series is an intriguing one. Opting to avoid "next gen systems," the franchise has stuck to the decidedly non-HD pastures of Wii and PSP. Both platforms have struggled to find many great FPS games, due to the control challenges inherent to each system. However, Heroes 2 triumphs over these shortcomings by tailoring the experience to the unique control schemes of these systems. One of the biggest problems with Wii FPS games was the size of the bounding box, which made it difficult to look freely in a FPS environment (example: Red Steel). However, Metroid Prime 3's "Advanced" control scheme gave players mouse-like precision by significantly reducing the size of the bounding box. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 expands even further upon this idea, by giving players the option of fully customizing the sensitivity of the game. This allows players to play with precision that matches Nintendo's best efforts.%Gallery-8246%

  • Today's seriously 32-player Wii FPS: Medal of Honor Heroes 2

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for the Wii sounds like a rehash of a long-running franchise. But 32-player online battles will make this shooter unique. Will internet connectivity become a key component for a great Wii FPS? The game ships November 13, marking an overdue trend of Wii games finally getting online.Judging from the trailer, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 looks good (albeit not HD-good). See for yourself after the break.

For all of you who aren't burnt out on WWII FPS titles, the latest trailer for EA's upcoming Medal of Honor Heroes 2 should tickle that fancy of yours. It reminds us of the Time Crisis franchise and Sega's Virtua Cop series, only you just shoot nazis. And, based on the trailer, it looks like you're going to be shooting a lot of them. Like, ridiculous lots.

We spent all last week talking about Metroid Prime 3, so let's pick up with something not-so-completely different: Medal of Honors: Heroes 2. Early word on this game is nothing short of amazing. Screenshots that have us a little impressed. 32-person (!) online multiplayer. But best of all? Word is that the controls are awesome, and that's what really matters. It looks like EA is really sinking their teeth into the Wii, from their special control schemes to their game choices. We never thought we'd say this, but they're shaping up to be one of our favorite developers this cycle.IGN's Matt Casamassina recently spent some quality time with the latest Medal of Honor title and has nothing but praise for it. Apparently it even adds a little something to the WWII game, which is good news; we're starting to think that developers have forgotten every other war in history. He does lament the on-rails aspect of Arcade Mode, but says everything else (i.e., the shooting part of the shooting game) is worth playing. The more free-flowing Campaign Mode, however, moves beyond simply "worth playing" and into "rivals Metroid," which piques our interest something fierce. So let's talk. Are you into this one? Has it cropped up on your radar now? Or are you skeptical until you see more on it?

The upcoming Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 is slated to have the one thing that many gamers consider important for the franchise: online play. But from the newly-released shots, it's got something else as well -- a pretty good look! Looks like EA put a little something extra into art direction to maximize the Wii's capabilities (unless there's something else afoot), and we like the effect. Maybe this means we can start looking forward to some better looking titles.%Gallery-6588%

  • New Medal of Honor Heroes 2 screens looking fine

Gamespot UK has a new batch of Medal of Honor Heroes 2 screenshots showing off the standard WWII action the series is known for. The screens look pretty darn good for a PSP game, though the resolution they were released at is a little suspicious. Whenever a company releases screenshots at a much higher resolution than the system is capable of, its hard to tell if they're legitimate images or just another example of a 'bullshot'.

Not only can they not get their demo out on time, but now they're jumping the gun on the second release date. Sheesh! EA just placed the on again, off again Medal of Honor: Airborne demo onto the XBLM that was supposed to make an appearance on the 23rd only to get pushed back to the 27th, but it is here now on the 25th. Release date ignored, the demo is available to all Xbox Live regions, weighs in at a satisfying 972MBs and features campaign gameplay from the Operation Husky objective. Next time EA better be punctual with these demo release dates ... we're an angry bunch when we don't get what we were promised on time. Happy parachuting!

Fancy yourself a free copy of Medal of Honor: Airborne? If so, then we've got news for you. Gamertag Radio was recently invited to EA's Medal of Honor: Airborne summit. While there, Godfree and plenty of other Xbox 360 community members got a chance to train for actual parachute drops as well as play Airborne with members of the real 82nd Airborne. Oh, and GTR also scored 10 copies of the game to give away. For video and audio of the event, as well as your shot at a free copy of Medal of Honor: Airborne, hit the "Read" link.

Forget about Hour of Victory and put Medal of Honor: Airborne on your list if you're eager to get back to some WWII gaming. It'll help bandage the wound left by Call of Duty when they decided to go all Modern Warfare on us.What sets it apart from the other entries in the Medal of Honor series is the Airborne factor that really changes the way you approach each new campaign. You parachute into each level from a C-47 transport plane, and can choose exactly where you'll land on the map, if you're halfway decent at steering your 'chute. This changes the gameplay over the previous game dramatically, because you can play each map differently every time you drop in.%Gallery-4806%

  • Medal of Honor: Airborne delayed for PS3

    07.06.2007

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, everyone, but it seems those of you waiting for your Medal of Honor: Airborne fix are going to have to wait a bit longer than owners of other consoles. In another cheap move by EA (who we believe more and more to be lazy developers who don't even try to optimize their games for each system ... why won't their sports games be at 60fps on the PS3, but will on the 360? We know the system can handle it, so the fault clearly lies within the developer house), PS3 owners get to wait an extra couple of months. Due out by the end of August initially, MoH:A has been pushed to a November release. A time where they will have to deal with much more important titles as competition. While no clear reason for this delay was explained, we're pretty sure we know why. We highlighted it above. The PS3 is harder to develop for, so the port from 360 to PS3 is giving them troubling results. Instead of optimizing performance for the PS3 itself, they're trying to debug a faulty, most likely less-impressive, port. We could be wrong. Maybe we get extra content. Tell us your thoughts![via Joystiq]

  • Medal of Honor: Airborne PS3 delayed until November

Though originally though to be released August 28 across all three platforms -- Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 -- Medal of Honor: Airborne won't be landing on Sony's console until months later. Gamespot noticed a brief addendum on the bottom of yesterday's press release announcing Michael Giacchino as the game's composer that stated the PS3 version would arrive in November. A previous trailer for the game, embedded after the break, gave the release date August 28 and implied that it was identical across all three platforms. No reason was cited for the delay. The game appears to still be on track for an August 28 release in North America (August 24 in Europe) for Xbox 360 and PC owners.

  • Lost, Alias composer scored Medal of Honor Airborne

Anyone who has turned on a TV in the last few years has probably heard some of Michael Giacchino's compositions. Check the credits on Lost or Alias and you'll see his name, and stick around after The Incredibles and Ratatouille to find him there as well. Now Giacchino has added another videogame to his growing body of work. EA announced today that the award-winning composer scored the music for Medal of Honor Airborne, set for release in late August. This comes just after he was announced as the composer for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. But Michael Giacchino aren't the first to take a game's soundtrack seriously. James Michael Dooley created the music for SOCOM 3, while composer Austin Wintory has focused more on video games as of late, including both the PC and PS3 versions of flOw. And let's not forget the cosmic Legend of Zelda soundtrack.

The retail release calendar has accidentally revealed a new title yet again. This time, it's a sequel to one of the better FPS games on the system, Medal of Honor Heroes. The aptly titled Medal of Honor Heroes 2 listing on EB Games contains no other information, but we think it's safe to assume that the sequel will feature the same massive online battles that the original had.[Via IGN]

What would make a WWII shooter better than all the rest? How about the ability to parachute into the field of battle wherever you wanted? Only on the newest generation of consoles could this be possible and Medal of Honor: Airborne knows it. Due out at the end of August, the title sports a nice twist -- land anywhere, giving you an infinite number of ways to play any given mission. It sounds special, but will it play out any differently than other games after the initial landing?[via CVG]
