Motorola's latest and greatest are now available to pre-order in the UK. Following the Moto X Play, you can now spend your hard-earned cash on the Moto X Style, which currently has an estimated delivery date of October 6th. The bigger and more powerful brother to the X Play, it features a 5.7-inch QHD display, a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. Slapped on top is a practically stock Android experience -- save for a few Moto-exclusive apps and features -- and the option to customise your phone through Moto Maker. The phone starts from £399, although you'll pay an extra £35 for the 64GB model and another £20 if you want a leather or wood back.

  • Verizon can't activate your Moto X Pure Edition just yet (update)

We hope you didn't rush to snag a Moto X Pure Edition for use on Verizon's network -- you'll be disappointed for the next few days. Early adopters speaking on Reddit and PrepaidPhoneNews say that Big Red is turning down subscribers trying to activate Motorola's giant device. The carrier just can't find the IMEI (the hardware identifier) needed to make things work, according to these reports. It's an odd problem, and a frustrating one when Verizon promised just last week that it would activate the Pure Edition. What gives? Thankfully, we've found out that this is only temporary. Update (9/17): According to Verizon, activations should be working now, via the website or in-store.

  • Moto X Play reportedly coming to Verizon as the Droid Maxx 2

When Motorola unveiled the Moto X Play, it left Americans hanging. Would that combination of a big display, mid-tier specs and a huge battery ever reach the US? If you ask Phandroid, the answer is yes -- although it might not show up in the form you'd like. The site's sources claim that the Play will show up on Verizon later this year as the Droid Maxx 2, and that it'll cost the same $300 contract-free as the regular model would if it were officially available in the US. There's no clue as to whether or not it'll be significantly different, although an earlier HellomotoHK leak pointed to Droid-specific backing. Sadly, the apparent leak suggests that you'll still have to go to an importer (or wait for Verizon's exclusive to end, if it ever does) to get the Play in its unaltered form.

Up until today, we only knew the Moto X Pure Edition would launch sometime this September. But now Motorola's revealed via Twitter that its new flagship, also known as the Style, will hit the US on the 3rd of said month. (International availability is still unknown, but we reached out to the company to see if had any dates to share.) The Moto X Pure Edition is going to start at $400 unlocked and, here in the States, it's expected to work on any carrier -- with LTE. As a refresher, it also features a 5.7-inch, Quad HD (1,440 x 2,560) display, Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM, 20-megapixel (f/2.0) rear camera and Android Lollipop. If you don't feel like waiting for it, there's always the 2015 Moto G -- which is only $180, yet continues to offer some of the best bang for your buck.

Chalk up one more big Android phone maker racing to patch its devices against that nasty Stagefright video security flaw. Motorola has explained that it will not only fix the vulnerability in phones from 2013 onward (such as the original Moto X and the Droid line), but make sure that its latest hardware is secure almost from the word go. Both the Moto X Style and Moto X Play will be secure on launch, while the recently-shipped third-generation Moto G is getting its update "soon."

  • The Moto X Style Pure Edition hands-on

So if you've ever wished you could get a Nexus 6, but with all the Moto Maker customizations, you're in luck, cause that's pretty much what the Moto X Style Pure Edition is. It's got the same basic shape and design as the Moto X you love, just super-sized to 5.7 inches. At its thickest, the Moto X Style is a surprisingly beefy 11.06mm. That's not exactly chunky, but it's certainly thicker than many other super-svelte flagships out there. You don't necessarily notice the extra bulk though, because the edges taper down to a more manageable 6.1mm. What you do notice is the heft. The 179g body feels substantial. But not in a holding-a-brick way -- more in a premium way. The Moto X Style feels like it was made from durable high-end parts and materials, not from cheap, flimsy plastic.

Motorola's Moto X Style has an extra trick up its sleeve. If you get the unlocked Pure Edition in the US, it'll reportedly work on any US carrier, including LTE -- you won't have to give up fast data to get the phone you want on your network of choice. It'll cost $400 at Amazon, Best Buy and Motorola when it arrives in September, or about "$200 to $300 less" than comparable flagship phones.

  • The Moto X Style is big, gorgeous and (of course) highly customizable

The Moto X is alive and well in 2015. The latest iteration of the highly customizable flagship, dubbed the Moto X Style, has a giant 5.7-inch Quad HD screen with the tiniest of bezels. It also has a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, front facing stereo speakers, a 21-megapixel camera and "TurboPower" quick charging technology. But what you really care about is those lovely customizable elements, like the back plate and metallic accents. Those luxurious leather and wood pieces you love are back, of course. But there's also a new silicone finish for the rear of the device that has a "soft feel" and a "warm look." Though, we're reserving judgment until we get to grope it ourselves.
