HTC confirms One S will no longer receive Android updates
It's not a Nexus, so suspend your disbelief: HTC's One S will not be getting any further Android updates. That's right, One S owners, your device is now officially a relic. In a statement released to the press, HTC today confirmed that the mid-ranger, which bowed last year in tandem with the One X, will remain frozen on 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. That means current owners will have to look elsewhere (read: developer forums) for unofficial access to Sense 5 ROMs and the latest tweaks Google's packed into Android 4.2 updates. We can't really lament the loss of BlinkFeed, but it sure would've been nice to see HTC port Zoe over to the device. At the very least, this makes a strong case for that Google Play edition One and its promise of consistent updates.

T-Mobile claims to be first US carrier with HD Voice calling nationwide
T-Mobile has an extra surprise in store: it's rolling out HD Voice calling nationwide, and claims to be the first US carrier with the achievement. Those who have a smartphone capable of the feat, such as the HTC One S, Nokia Astound or Samsung Galaxy S III, can get both higher quality calls and fewer noticeable distractions in the background. Upgraded quality is available as of today, which should help us get some extra mileage out of that new unlimited plan.

HTC One SV coming to UK with LTE, 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display, Snapdragon S4 and microSD slot
Another addition to HTC's familia One, a new 4.3-inch Android phone will pay a visit to the UK (with LTE) in the next few weeks. The One SV, which is already set to arrive in Asia and Australia, has a decent list of specifications, with Beats Audio, burst photography and dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor in attendance. It'll be running Android 4.0, with a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 lens able to record up to 1080p video -- it's certainly no Droid DNA for the old continent. A pleasant surprise, however, is the addition of a microSD card slot, which can expand internal storage up to 32GB, while NFC is built into this particular S, something that wasn't in the original One S. It's a completely different looking slab compared to the MAO-treated original, while a Super LCD 2 screen (WVGA, 480 x 800) now supplanting what was once AMOLED -- in fact it all sounds awfully close to the One VX for AT&T. The One SV will be landing in blue and white editions in the coming weeks and although no carriers have been specified yet, the mention of LTE suggests that EE is likely to offer the device. HTC requires more than 512MB of RAM for Jelly Bean updates, One V and Desire C to stay on ICS
HTC's reassured us in a freshly updated FAQ that the One X and One S will continue seeing Jelly Bean updates as soon as carrier testing is finished, and it's also given us some insight into how it decides which smartphones will get the Android 4.1 treatment. The word is mum on exactly which other phones will be graced with the flavor of Android in question and Sense 4+, but the firm is reviewing its 2012 handsets to determine which are eligible. Two phones that didn't make the cut are the One V and Desire C, since HTC generally requires devices to pack more than 512MB of RAM in order to receive Jelly Bean. As for smartphones released in 2011, they'll also be considered once this year's hardware is evaluated. Chou and Co. also noted that they plan to post "generic development ROMs" of Jelly Bean for the One X and One S to its developer website as soon as they're fully baked. HTC One X sees Jelly Bean rollout in Taiwan and Singapore, One S update reportedly coming soon
We've known for months that HTC intends to upgrade the One X to Jelly Bean, but now it appears the update is finally going live, at least for folks in Taiwan. Members of the XDA Developers forum are chiming in about a 352.87MB OTA update that's available within both HTC's home country and Singapore, which brings Android 4.1.1 and HTC Sense 4+ to the One X. Jelly Bean's appearance for the handset matches an earlier report from Engadget Chinese of an incoming update promised by HTC Taiwan. According to PocketDroid, general manager of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong, announced that One X users within Asia will see the update begin to roll today, and that the One S will also receive Jelly Bean a tad later. We've reached out to HTC to verify Mr. Tong's comments, and for clarification of specific regions throughout Asia. [Thanks, Ryan]

HTC One S 'special edition' comes draped in white, boasts 64GB of storage
HTC previously showed off a special edition One X geared toward fashionistas in New York City, and now it's time for a slightly lesser-specced member of the numero uno family to get a somewhat similar treatment -- we're talking about the One S. And while the most noticeable characteristic of this "special edition" slab is obviously its new white livery, HTC has also made internal improvements by loading the 4.3-inch device with 64GB of internal storage -- which should pair nicely alongside that 1.5GHz, dual-core S4 CPU and 1GB RAM. The only bad news is this unicorn type is expected to only be available in Taiwan, and mum's the word on when, or if, it'll ever make a trip outside the company's home turf.
