OnePlus 7 images hint at pop-up selfie camera
OnePlus' quest to eradicate bezels might be reaching its logical conclusion: virtually no bezels at all. Well-known tipster OnLeaks and Pricebaba have posted renders purporting to depict the OnePlus 7, and its centerpiece would be a nearly-all-screen 6.5-inch design that ditches the notch in favor of a Vivo NEX S-style front-facing camera. Not surprisingly, OnePlus wouldn't be opting for the elaborate mechanism or depth sensing of Oppo's Find X.
Huawei P30 might revive the headphone jack
As a rule, smartphone makers who've ditched the 3.5mm headphone port haven't rushed to bring it back, whether out of technical necessity or simple pride. Huawei, however, might be the exception to the rule. OnLeaks and 91Mobiles have produced leak-based renders of the upcoming P30 that hint at the return of the headphone jack, nestled neatly at the bottom near the USB-C port. If you're not in a rush to embrace wireless audio, this could be your flagship phone of choice.
Google's rumored Pixel 3 'Lite' XL might ditch the notch
There's been talk (and apparent leaks) of a mid-range Pixel 3 variant, but what about an equivalent to the larger Pixel 3 XL? That might be coming too. OnLeaks and 91mobiles claim to have details of a Pixel 3 'Lite' XL (just a placeholder name for now), and have produced renders to match. The larger handset would move up to a 6-inch, 2,220 x 1,080 screen (versus the 6.3-inch, 2,960 x 1,440 panel on the Pixel 3 XL) but would otherwise resemble its smaller counterpart, including the plastic chassis. And notably, that would mean dropping the regular Pixel 3 XL's notch -- you'd 'only' have one front camera, but you also wouldn't have a conspicuous protrusion into your screen.
Nokia 5.1 Plus leak suggests HMD can't resist the notch (updated)
Even an iconic brand like Nokia (or rather, HMD Global) can't resist the pressure to make phones with notched displays, it seems. Tiger Mobiles and Onleaks claim to have images of the Nokia 5.1 Plus, a mid-size handset that would pack a roughly 5.7-inch display with (you guessed it) a notch at the top. It'd also pack the dual cameras that are seemingly obligatory for most 2018 phones. The device wouldn't be too trendy, however -- there would still be a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top in addition to USB-C down below.
The next Moto Z Force will revive the headphone jack
We wouldn't blame you if you thought that the Moto Z and Z Force ushered in the death of the headphone jack. While they weren't the first phones to make that leap, it seemed like Apple, HTC and other heavyweights were all too eager to follow suit. However, we have good news: it looks like Moto, at least, is bringing the 3.5mm port back. OnLeaks and Android Authority claim to have leaked 3D renders of the Moto Z2 Force, and -- surprise, surprise -- the headphone jack has returned. It's not certain that a standard, not-so-shatterproof Moto Z2 would get the connector (assuming that phone exists), but this is bound to be relieving if the previous Force's lack of ports was a deal breaker. There's more to the story, too.
