  • Confirmed: Black and Pink DS Lites in U.S. Sept. 13

Following close on yesterday's rumors, Nintendo officially announced this morning that the DS Lite will be available in black and pink -- sorry, that's officially "Onyx and Coral Pink" -- in the U.S. on Sept. 13.The DS is the latest in a long line of pink Nintendo portables in America, starting with the Game Boy Pocket and continuing through the Game Boy Micro. Elsewhere in the world, systems like the PSP, and PS2 will soon be available in fabulous pink. You can even gussy up your Xbox 360 with the girliest of colors through a faceplate. Given this sea of light red systems, can a pink PlayStation 3 be far behind?Yes. Yes, it probably can.[Thanks, Daniel]

  • PSP goes pink with Pink

Sony was a little lax about making sure we knew they were going pink with Pink on the PSP today, too, but it does indeed look like we can chalk up another color for the portable. Apparently the singer's just doing the usual sponsored / co-branded business, releasing the P!nk Limited Edition PSP with headphones, remote, 32MB Memory Stick, but what raised a couple eyebrows over yonder is the fact that she's not signed with Sony, and what's more Sony will also offering Pink downloads on their YourPSP site. Anywho, from what we understand Sony pulled the official release, so they're apparently not yet prepped to discuss the ramifications of the PSP getting femmed out even though we now know it will run you €229 or £169 when it debuts October 27th.

  • The pink PS2 hits UK in November

It's a little late in the game for you to have to justify a PS2 to your ladyfriend, and it's way late in the game if your ladyfriend is of the ilk to want a PS2 of her very own. That said, as we all know well from Motorola and their best-selling RAZR, when you're late getting your new product out the door, the thing to do is release the old product in a new color. Enter the pink PS2. We're not yet entirely sure when (or if) it's hitting US shores, but it's launching on the 8th of November over in Old Blighty. Oh, and for our gamer pals across the pond: thanks to the Leipzig Games Convention, which kicked off today, you'll see a dip in price of that PS2 as well. It'll only set you back £94.99 and €129.99 now, which doesn't help us over in the States too much, but we can't complain as our PlayStation 2s still cost significantly less. Unfortunately that price dip won't help out your purchase of pink there, which is still going to go for £129.99 (bundled with SingStar Pop), and €159.99 otherwise.[Thanks, Steve]

  • European PS2 price drop and pretty new pink model [update 1]

Following April's North American PS2 price drop, Sony has announced a European price drop for their top-selling console juggernaut. The formerly €149.99 and £104.99 prices will be lowered to €129.99 and £94.99 respectively, still a good deal more expensive than the $130 US asking price. They've also lowered the price of the Memory Card to €19.99. While this isn't quite the budget pricing we imagine the non-PS2-owner is waiting for, Sony has readied another flank in their assault on these stubborn holdouts. The formula has worked disturbingly well for companies like Nintendo and Apple: a fresh coat of paint and you've opened up a whole new customer base. The new Pink PlayStation 2 will debut at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany, August 23-27th. This sexy little thing is going out dancing with a pair of Dual Shock controllers and a Memory Card, and they're all wearing their prettiest matching pink outfits. And, UK-only, they'll be joining up with SingStar Pop at the karaoke club! Just how much will this little bundle of fun cost? €159.99 or £129.99 in UK (bundled with SingStar Pop). Seriously, resistance is futile Europe.[Update: These things come in threes. It looks like the PS2 isn't the only console getting the pink treatment. Those rumors (from last year!) may have been premature, but Sony is finally making a pink PSP! Joy! It will be available Oct. 27th in Europe only for €229, or £169. They're also employing colorfully-named popstress P!nk to pimp their pink PSPs. We can think of a lot of things we'd rather have Sony invest their efforts in PSP-wise than a pink version. • Get ready girls: Pink PSP!

Maybe all this talk about a PSP redesign is from all these new colors of the PSP that are being revealed at once. You may remember Sony's insanely expensive Signature PSPs. Well, add another new "limited edition" color to the mix: pink. Or, should I say p!nk, because it's designed "in collaboration" with the somewhat popular pop star. It'll come in a Value Pack only and cost €229, or £169. And yes, like many cool things Sony-related, this is solely Europe-only. You'll also pick up some exclusive downloads from YourPSP.com when you purchase the pink system. From the press release: "PSP is not exclusively for men, there is a PSP for everyone, and whoever you are, PSP can fit into your life."I'm somehow doubting the limited edition nature of this package. You may remember that all hell broke loose once the pink DS Lite came out. Who wouldn't want to capitalize on the rabid girl market? Of course, Sony's done stranger things before... like refuse to bring the white PSP to the US.[Via IGN]

  • Noble Pink releases, retailers rejoice

No, they are not rejoicing because they enjoy having crazy-long lines of consumers standing about in their store, waiting with quiet desire to get their hands on the newest edition of the DS Lite. They rejoice because those puppies sell out with the quickness and the latest release, the Noble Pink DS Lite, was no exception. The link over to Famitsu's coverage of the release in Japan show consumers of all ages toughing it out in line, no doubt their feet hating them for the long bout of standing. The ends justify the means, however, as several of those with a vendetta against their ten-toed appendages posed for the camera with pink DS in hand, showing the unbridled joy that usually comes on the morning of December 25th, for some of us.

  • Nintendo's DS Lite gets pretty in pink

We're all well beyond the point where there's any kind of surprise when a device gets made over in yet another color -- especially pink -- so save that aghast look for something a little more unusual. Nope, sorry, that won't be the price either; the "Noble Pink" DS Lites will weigh in at an almost-average ¥16,800 ($144 US), and will see release July 20th overseas. Which means if nothing else we'll get them around or before the Wii drops in Q4, though hopefully not before the elusive, highly desireable black market black Lite.[Via Joystiq]

  • Pink DS Lite could be hitting Japanese shelves next month

German website Gamefront is reporting that Japan's female consumers will be able to get their hands on a pink edition of the wildly popular DS Lite. Upon crawling the internet for signs of validity to this claim, Japanese gaming site Nintendo Inside is also reporting on the rumor. The speculated date is July 20th, so we assume an announcement will come from Nintendo in the next few days, unless of course this is all bogus.

  • Intempo Digital's Buddy pink GPS

This one goes out to all the ladies and lovers of pink: feeling a little estranged by all the man-gadgets, or tiring of the unisex gray / black plastic or metal look? Intempo Digital's new Buddy (no, not the De La Soul kind of Buddy) is pink, and that's about it -- they're pretty shy with specs and any hard information on the unit, but from what we can tell, it does 2D and 3D maps, has the usual history and favorite locations, POIs, and is, um, pink. As you can probably tell, the selling point here is pink. Of course, we'd like to think the kinds of ladies who read Engadget wouldn't merely be wooed into buying anything due to its heteronormatively femmy color, but remember what a great gift the pink RAZR turned out to be, guys?[Via Shiny Shiny]

  • Qwest and Sanyo go pink to benefit breast cancer foundation

Qwest and Sanyo have announced a stylin' -- and more importantly, tasteful -- "Always Pink" rendition of Sanyo's SCP-3100 to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Qwest is committing up to $100,000 of phone sales to the foundation from now through October 31 in support of research and community outreach programs. For what it's worth, the low-end SCP-3100's specs mirror those of its, uh, less pink siblings: 160 x 128 color internal and 96 x 32 monochrome external display, VGA camera, speakerphone, and a promised talk time of up to 3.6 hours. Throwing your support behind breast cancer research and awareness will run you $50 with a 2-year contract; if the 3100 doesn't excite you, two additional as-yet-unannounced models (presumably clad in pink) are promised in the series later this summer. Or, you know, you could always choose more traditional (and direct) means of charitable donation.[Via Mobileburn]

  • Pink SLVR L7 available through Cingular

While not quite as hot as the $75,000 diamond-encrusted version, Cingular new pink SLVR L7 will surely find a market among the hoards of people that seem addicted to devices in that most feminine of colors. Even though its sporting a different shade, this model has the exact same features as the black L7 -- iTunes, Bluetooth, EDGE, MicroSD, and a VGA cam -- and costs the same too, priced at $199 with a two-year service agreement and pledge of eternal loyalty to Cingular/AT&T Wireless.

  • Nokia N72 launched

Along with the N93 and N73, Nokia just launched their new N72 multimedia tri-band GSM / EDGE cellphone. This Symbian S60 handset features a 2.1-inch, 176 x 208, 262k color display, Bluetooth 2.0, and 20MB internal memory expandable via RS-MMC. Media support includes a digital music player with dedicated music keys supporting MP3 and AAC playback, an FM Radio with Visual Radio support, and throws in a 2 megapixel shooter with integrated flash capable of CIF video capture at 15fps. Nokia is positioning this pup as a "multimedia computer" which is a bit of a stretch, but we'll play along for now. Expected in Pearl Pink or Gloss Black sometime in June 2006. • Pink Chocolate? LG says yes

LG has thoroughly trashed their black and white "chocolate" metaphor with their new pink LG Chocolate, the LG-SV590. With 350,000 of the slim-slider Chocolate phones sold so far, it's hard to fault LG for releasing the phone in a new color, but we were kind of digging the whole edible motif. No matter, the phone still has its 2-inch QVGA screen, 512MB of memory, and LG even has a US version in the works.
