    This week's PlayStation Plus freebie is BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend. All PlayStation Plus members can download the PS Vita fighter gratis when the PlayStation Network updates later today – sorry, the PS3 version does not apply. Tomorrow, PS Plus also gets a free timed trial of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Insomniac Games' latest, Fuse. Finally, PS Plus-exclusive discounts on a few different games will be up for grabs tomorrow: Hamilton's Great Adventure is down to $2.50; Draw Slasher is $4.19; and Germinator can be snagged for $5.

  • PS Plus weekly: Pinball Arcade, Germinator available for free

    Starting tomorrow, PlayStation Plus members in North America can download FarSight's Cross-Buy pinball sim Pinball Arcade and Creat Studios' PS Vita puzzler Germinator free of charge. Pinball Arcade, regularly priced at $10, features the classic tables Tales of the Arabian Nights, Ripley's Believe It or Not, Theatre of Magic, and Black Hole. PlayStation Plus members will have access to both the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of the core four-table download, and 24 additional machines are available as paid DLC. Vita owners also receive free access to Germinator, which originally premiered in March at $10. Similar in premise to Taito's bubble-bursting puzzler Puzzle Bobble, Germinator challenges players to match like-colored germs, causing them to grow and eventually explode in a gooey mess. Member-exclusive discounted items for this week include Metro: Last Light's season pass, the newly released Vita janitor sim Men's Room Mayhem, and Capcom's Darkstalkers Resurrection and Super Puzzle Fighter 2, along with a collection of DLC-bundled Ultimate Editions.

    PlayStation Plus members can snag Sleeping Dogs, Pinball Arcade and Knytt Underground for free on the PS3 this May – for standard PSN users, Sleeping Dogs runs $50, Pinball Arcade is $10 and Knytt Underground is $15. Knytt and Pinball Arcade are Cross-Buy enabled, meaning a purchase on PS3 enables that game on Vita, and vice-versa. Also free on Vita for Plus members in May is Germinator ($10 standard) and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend ($25 standard). Mother, May you get a handful of great games for free? Yes, you May. Sleeping Dogs is free for Plus members starting tomorrow, May 7, along with a 25 percent Plus discount on Papo & Yo on PS3, making that game $9.

    This week's free PS Plus game is Zombie Tycoon 2, launching tomorrow as a PSN download on PS3 and PS Vita. Zombie Tycoon 2 is the sequel to Frima Studios' real-time strategy game pitting two mad scientists against one another, each with an army of zombies at his beck and call, as they try to invade the town of Finkleville.In addition to the free game, the usual discount trumpeting will take place tomorrow. Spring Fever concludes with arguably its best week yet, offering up discounts themed around PlayStation All-Stars ($20 for PS Plus members) and its featured combatants. Many notable series are on sale, including entries in Metal Gear, Sly Cooper, BioShock, LittleBigPlanet, Devil May Cry, God of War, Infamous, Ratchet & Clank and Twisted Metal. Games available for half off include the Prince of Persia Trilogy ($19.60), Rayman Origins ($9.80 on PS3, $13.20 on Vita), Shoot Many Robots ($4.90), I Am Alive ($7.30), Lumines Electronic Symphony ($13.20) and a bunch of other PS3, Vita and PSP games.     Tomorrow's PSN content dump unlocks Plants vs. Zombies on the PS Vita for all PS Plus members, free of charge. The usual asking price for Popcap's tower defense darling is $10.49 – PS Plus members will find the free game available in their Instant Game Collection when PSN updates tomorrow.In addition to the free game, the PlayStation Blog has given us a look at some of the discounts on offer in this week's update. Quirky rhythm game Retro/Grade from 24 Caret Games will be on sale for a mere $2.44 this week, plus the winners of the PSN Gamers' Choice Awards contest have been determined – a promotion that asked gamers to vote on which games they'd like to see discounted. Highlights include reduced prices on PS All-Stars: Battle Royale, Sound Shapes and Escape Plan.

    Another week, another round of goodies of PlayStation Plus members on PSN. The biggest of this week's bonuses is a free download of Guardians of Middle Earth, a game that does a surprisingly good job of bringing the MOBA genre to consoles.There will also be a handful of discounts on other games. Jordan Mechner's Karateka will see its price punched and kicked down to $5. Twin-stick shooter Big Sky Infinity will be $5.99 and features Cross Buy, unlocking the game on both PS3 and Vita. Finally, we have the stylish, humorous platform adventure Knytt Underground, which will be available for only $5.

    Because of New Year's festivities, Sony has updated the PlayStation Network a day earlier than usual. This week brings a bunch of discounts for some of 2012's best, including a few bucks off Sound Shapes, Skullgirls, Tokyo Jungle, Shadow of the Colossus and many more. Of course, if you're a PlayStation Plus member everything is discounted a tad bit extra.PS Plus subscribers also get their requisite free games this week, including NBA Jam: On Fire Edition and PS Vita puzzle-platformer, Chronovolt.   • God of War: Ascension PS Plus beta takes a stab at January 8 launch

    That PlayStation Plus-exclusive multiplayer beta for God of War: Ascension has been dated for January 8. Those who participated in the Rise of the Warrior social game and were on the winning Spartan team for the game's first team challenge can check out the beta starting today. Losers on the Trojan team can check out the beta starting on December 16.The multiplayer beta for God of War: Ascension is composed of two modes: team Favor of the Gods and free-for-all Favor of the Gods. These modes task teams and individuals with reaching a certain requisite number of points, "earning points via kills, bonus brutal kills, opening chests, capturing domination points, and, if you're skillful enough, performing executions using the Spear of Olympus," the PlayStation Blog reports. The map featured in the beta will be the Desert of Lost Souls, seen above.

  • Free SSF4 Arcade Edition, Rochard for PS Plus members tomorrow

    Tomorrow's PlayStation Network update adds two freebies to the Instant Game Collection for PlayStation Plus members: Rochard and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Last week, PS Plus subscribers were treated to a free copy of BioShock 2.Rochard is a puzzle-platformer from Recoil Games, one that our own Ludwig Kietzmann called "a refreshing, perfectly sized game" that does well aping the mechanics of Portal and Half-Life 2. Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, while initially fairly broken at launch, has since been patched to be a more balanced fighting experience.

    This week may play host to the big debut of PlayStation Plus on Vita, but a smattering of other deals also await subscribers. The free game this week is Dungeon Defenders, the tower-defense online co-op RPG hybrid from Trendy Entertainment. The Classic Sonic bundle, which pairs Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is also gratis to all PS Plus members this week.Deals come from Sega's staple of games too, the PlayStation Blog reports, with discounts on Nights Into Dreams HD, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and even a bundle on Hell Yeah and two supplementary DLC packs on the docket. And if you got into the PS Plus membership for the non-gaming stuff (sure, we totally get it) then an 80% discount on one year of Music Unlimited Premium may entice your earbuds.

    PlayStation Plus will be available on Vita on November 19, Sony announced today. The Vita PS Plus rollout will include access to an Instant Game Collection, a series of AAA titles available for download via the PlayStation Store. The Instant Game Collection will be accessible on November 20, when the PlayStation Store publishes.Plus members will receive six games for the Vita: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Rush, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack! and PSP's Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.Plus costs $18 for three months or $50 for a year, and those with a PS3 Plus membership automatically can use that on Vita, and vice versa. Plus also provides 1GB of cloud storage on PS3 and 1GB of cloud storage on the Vita.We first heard that PS Plus would come to Vita this month during Tokyo Game Show in September.

    No, that headline isn't our own exclamation of excitement over this week's PlayStation Plus update. Two pieces of Hell Yeah! DLC, Pimp My Rabbit and Virtual Rabbit Missions, are each 20 percent off this week for Plus members, $4 and $2.40, respectively.Need for Speed: Most Wanted comes out on October 30, but this week it's $54 for Plusers who pre-order, opposed to the standard $60. Plus members also get a one-hour timed demo for Medal of Honor: Warfighter in preparation for its launch tomorrow.     Continuing its Day 1 Digital promotion, PSN has launch-day downloads of Doom 3: BFG Edition and 007 Legends available today. On top of that, all PS Vita users can hop into a PS All-Stars: Battle Royale beta. PS3 owners can get in on it too, but they'll need a PS Plus subscription.Silent Hill: Book of Memories launches today for the PS Vita, and PS Plus members can add Payday: The Heist to their Instant Game Collection.     During Sony's TGS keynote, Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House revealed that PS Plus would launch on the PS Vita this November. The service will be available to PS Vita owners for 500 yen per month in Japan or $17.99 every three months in the US; $49.99 for the year.Update: A press release from Sony confirms existing PS Plus subscribers on PS3 will get PS Vita membership gratis and new PS Plus subscribers on PS Vita will be able to access the PS3 bonuses. In addition to the savings, PS Plus members on Vita can send their saved game data to the cloud – 1GB total for PS3 saves and 1GB total for PS Vita saves.

    If you've been sat impatiently tapping your fingers on the desk waiting for that extra PlayStation Plus storage, then you might want to give that hand a break. According to the PlayStation blog, it's coming, and soon. The capacity bump will come in PS3 system update v4.25, and once installed, you'll just need to head over to the Saved Data Utility under the XMB's Game column to see it. Our friends over at Joystiq have pushed Sony for a more concrete time on the update's release, but if you've already maxed out that current 150MB, there's light at the end of the cloud tunnel.

    To celebrate Harvest Moon's 15th anniversary, five classic Natsume games are on sale through the week for PlayStation Plus members, running 50 - 75 percent off.The sale includes Adventures To Go!, Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl, Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon and Reel Fishing: The Great Outdoors, each 50 percent off for $7.50. Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley is 75 percent off, also for $7.50.Series publisher Natsume teases more Harvest Moon games coming to PSN, though it hasn't made any official announcements.

    Sony's annual subscription-based PlayStation Plus service will be extending its existence to the PlayStation Vita, the company announced today during its Gamescom press conference in Cologne. No information was given regarding when the service would make the jump from console to handheld, or what offers will be used to entice new subscribers.Additionally, it was announced that Plus' cloud storage limit will be increased from 150MB to 1GB. The increase will take place sometime before the end of the year in September, according to the PlayStation Blog.It was also announced that Red Dead Redemption would be Europe's free PlayStation Plus game for the month for September, though it does not appear that North America will get the same deal.

    Sony's decided that you've been playing so much with their dedicated online service, you deserve more space for your cloud saves. From next month, users will see their cloud storage increase from 150MB to 1GB. We were also teased that the PlayStation Vita would be getting into PlayStation Plus soon, but it looks like SCEE CEO Jim Ryan is holding onto that tantalizing nugget for now. Hopefully we'll hear more on this a bit later.
