Whatever you do, if you're a Plus subscriber, do not purchase Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Bloons or Burn Zombie Burn on the PlayStation Store during the next two weeks! You'd feel awfully silly for doing so, since they'll all be made free in the October 19 PlayStation Plus update.

    10.06.2010

This week's European PSN update seems a bit anemic when compared to the beefy additions of the past few weeks, but that doesn't mean you should reserve your attention. There are big discounts on Modern Warfare 2 DLC, the release of Ferrari: The Race Challenge, a demo for DJ Hero 2, and "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" finally makes it onto Rock Band. You know, that song that goes ... something ... something ... Leonard Bernstein! The surprisingly not bad game Deadliest Warrior is available now on the PSN. The service also adds Alien Breed: Impact and it's likely worth your time to check out the demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. If for some reason you're a fan of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and still haven't picked up the game's two map packs, those are now on sale for 50 percent off at $7.49 apiece. Check out the full PSN update after the break. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Once again, the European PSN update includes more bacon than the pan can handle. There are demos for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, God of War: Ghost of Sparta and EA Sports MMA, along with the release of Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and a whole, whole bunch of DLC. That's a scientific unit of measurement, you know. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

The PSN update has quite some quality downloadable games this week. Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light not only arrives, but it adds a whole featured section on the PSN. There's also Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue and Swords & Solidiers. Fans of Borderlands should also take a look at the game's final piece of DLC, "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution." Although, remember, if you haven't already invested in the game's DLC, the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition will be out October 12. Check out the full PSN update after the break. The next batch of offers lined up for PlayStation Plus subscribers looks to be incredibly enticing -- that is, of course, if you're one of the lucky lot chosen to participate in the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood beta. Otherwise ... um, 25 percent off Alien Breed: Impact! Yay?

This just may be the biggest European PSN update in the history of the universe, folks. There's like a bazillion demos, including a currently Euro-exclusive Enslaved sampling, a showdown between FIFA and PES, and a mess of PlayStation Move tryouts. If you're an early adopter of Sony's new peripheral, you'll want to check out all the releases posted after the jump. It's a relatively quiet week for the PSN update ... unless you count the explosions from all-out wormy warfare in Worms 2 Armageddon. The first downloadable PlayStation Move game, Tumble, also makes it debut alongside demos for Move titles Racquet Sports and EyePet. There are also discounts this week on Monkey Island Special Edition 2: Lechuck's Revenge and Mega Man 9. So, all in all, a pretty good week for downloadable titles. European PS3 owners have a lot on their plates this week -- largely in the form of DLC releases for Red Dead Redemption, BioShock 2, MAG, ModNation Racers, Split/Second: Velocity, Kane and Lynch 2 and more. Not particularly tickled by any of these expansions? Well, maybe you'd prefer to do some complimentary ninja flips in the free demo for Vanquish. That doesn't do it for you either? Then you're just impossible to please. You should probably leave. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Two must-buy titles grace the PSN update this week. First up, for PS3, the Castle Crashers are finally set to rescue some princesses using classic 2D brawlin' -- you've put $15 aside for it, haven't you? Also, PSP-owning fans of strategy titles shouldn't miss out on Valkyria Chronicles 2, the worthy follow-up to the overlooked PS3 gem. After a pretty beefy, Scott Pilgrim-infused update last Wednesday, this week's European PSN update's looking a little bare-boned. There's a demo for NHL 11 and H.A.W.X. 2, a new Marvel Costume Kit for LittleBigPlanet, and on the slightly less-playable side, there's a metric ton of trailers from Gamescom. We know videos aren't as fun as games, but if you'd like, you can twiddle your fingers around on a DualShock while watching them. It's just like the real thing! Do you like arcade-style flights games? This is the week to find out. Try a couple flybys in the HAWX 2 demo, and then take it right into Top Gun's proverbial Danger Zone. Speaking of danger, definitely check out the Joe Danger demo (if you haven't already picked up the game). It just might ... take your breath aawaaaaay, dun DUN, dun DUN, duh DUN, dun dun dun dun DUUUUNNNN. Our dear friend Scott Pilgrim makes his temporarily exclusive appearance on the PlayStation Store this week, joined by a demo for Mafia 2 and an early access sale on PixelJunk Racers: 2nd Lap for PlayStation Plus subscribers. There's also new content for Red Dead Redemption and Dragon Age: Origins. That should be more than enough to keep you busy for at least 48 hours, provided you're not some sort of game-beating robot. The pickin's are a bit slimmer for this week's European PSN update than we would like, with the Gundemonium Collection and a demo for Modern Warfare 2 highlighting the playable releases. There's also DLC for BioShock 2, ModNation Racers and the third Marvel pack for LittleBigPlanet. Oh, and Tekken 2 gets added to the PSOne Classics storefront, in case you're filled with the kind of rage that can only be remedied by brutalizing a kangaroo. There aren't too many new games on the PlayStation Store this week, but there are certainly some terrific sales. If you haven't picked them up yet, definitely consider grabbing PixelJunk Shooter for PS3 and Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess for PS3/PSP while they're on sale. (Note: There's no PlayStation Plus update this week.) Check out the full update after the break. It's a great day for people who love old, weird platformers (and who doesn't?) with the European PSN release of Earthworm Jim HD and the PSOne version of Rayman 2: The Great Escape. Looking for something a little more introspective? Why not enjoy the demo for Flower, or download a few extra courses for Tiger Woods 11? Looking for something action-packed and introspective? How about a nice game of PSOne Pong? Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Adorably disturbing (rainbow vomit!) puzzler Critter Crunch is now free for PS+ users. Even if you don't have PS+, it's still worth grabbing this game at $6.99. Also, on the opposite end of the cuteness spectrum, the brutal Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days demo is now public. Check out the full update after the break. If you're a fan of odd character pairings, this week's European PSN update is tailor-made to fit your peculiar interests. Available today is the next chapter in the Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse saga, titled "Beyond the Alley of the Dolls." Also new to the store is the demo for Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days. If Turner and Hooch had been added to the PSN Video Store this week, we could have had a real conjunction party.
