Grand Theft Auto 5's achievements have been listed on Xbox 360 Achievements, so if you're a completionist who's ready to start planning your takeover of Los Santos, take a gander. Keep in mind 17 of the 38 non-secret achievements listed are tied to GTA Online – if you're looking to earn 100 percent completion, you're going to need to get social. For those going lone wolf, the single-player list is free of story spoilers. Some noteworthy achievements include From Beyond the Stars, which will have players collect and return spaceship parts, and Out of Your Depth, which only contains the description "You're gonna need a bigger boat ...." But lest you think GTA5 is all high-flying adventure and drug-running, there's also the Trading Pure Alpha achievement, which will require that you make a profit on your investments by playing the in-game stock market. Well, at least we're not being hounded to go bowling.

  • Rockstar reveals Grand Theft Auto Online

Rockstar Games today lifted the curtain on Grand Theft Auto Online, showing off the new title via a lengthy announcement trailer. GTA Online appears to be more than just a simple multiplayer iteration of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, and features player housing, a persistent world, and player-generated content. The game shares game elements and geography with Grand Theft Auto V and supports up to 16 players co-habitating in their own little online world. Players will be able to purchase and customize vehicles, own property, shape their appearance, and work their way through the criminal underworld, in addition to participating all the random acts of chaos the series has offered since its inception. In Grand Theft Auto Online, players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community, all with the personality and refined mechanics of Grand Theft Auto 5. Purchasers of Grand Theft Auto V will receive access to GTA Online when it launches October 1st on PS3 and Xbox 360 (and not PC). It is unclear whether the game will be available as a standalone product; we have reached out to Rockstar for clarification. Check out the reveal trailer after the break.

  • Is Rockstar announcing a GTA MMO?

If you've been sitting back just waiting for a look at an online version of Grand Theft Auto, you'll have to wait a little longer... but at least not much! Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto Online is on its way. The announcement, however, is just a teaser that the premiere of the game, along with a gameplay trailer and previews, will be incoming on Thursday, August 15th. The move to an official online version is not unexpected. Back in January, the voice chat update brought the franchise one step closer to MMO-dom. We've even done an impressions piece on a multiplayer version of GTA San Andreas. And last month, Massively mused on the possibility of an MMO after noting some online features in the reveal trailer for GTA V. But will GTA Online be an actual MMO, or will it just be a multiplayer lobby for GTA V? The answer may be forthcoming Thursday. [Thanks to Dengar for the tip]

  • Rockstar's Agent may not be KIA, trademarks suggest

While Rockstar Games' Agent entered deep cover and maintained radio silence over the last couple of years, a pair of recently-renewed trademarks discovered by Siliconera suggest that the espionage thriller may still be alive and under development. The trademark filings (documented here and here, though public viewing requires a unique search session) specifically mention Agent's distinct logo, which features "the shape of a handgun comprising the internal section of the letter 'G'". No additional details regarding the project's current status are yet known. Announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive in 2009, Agent is a stealth-action game with a storyline set during the Cold War in the 1970s. The game later slipped to a 2010 release date, but failed to materialize. Rockstar announced in 2011 that Agent was "still in development," but has not issued a clarifying statement in the years since.

The good folks at Rockstar Games have released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5, set to release on September 17 of this year. Why are we talking about a single-player game here on Massively? Just watch the last 18 seconds of the video embedded below. "And then, there's Grand Theft Auto Online," the narrator says as the video shows the main character looking out over a city of almost a dozen other players flying and driving around. Rockstar says they will show off the online features "soon," so we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out just how massively multiplayer this teased online feature could be.

Grand Theft Auto 4 has been host to many excellent mods in the past, such as one in which R2-D2 destroys Liberty City. In this case, YouTube user taltigolt recently showed off a video that showcaes improvements made to a complete GTA 4 mod that places Iron Man in the heat of the action. Not only does the video show Iron Man flying around the city and smashing into buildings, but he destroys police cars with ease by raising his arms. The modding crew also uploaded an album with Tony Stark in the game to their Facebook page. Unfortunately, the video features no sound at the request of another GTA 4 modder. Just imagine various crunch and explosion sound effects while you watch it.

  • Manhunt goes to PS2 Classics on May 14

Rockstar North's stealth slash slaughter game, Manhunt, launches on PSN next week on May 14, available in the PS2 Classics section for $10. European PSN users will have to wait until Wednesday, when their store is updated. In the announcement post, Rockstar also says the next game up for re-release is The Warriors. Manhunt joins Bully, Midnight Club 3, Red Dead Revolver and various Grand Theft Auto games, all available on PSN now. The PS2 Classic generated much controversy when it launched in 2003 for its gruesome murder scenarios and animations – a few examples include suffocating enemies with plastic bags, strangling them with wire and eviscerating others with table saws. In 2007, Rockstar produced a sequel in Manhunt 2, which was banned in the UK for almost six months before it was cleared for launch.

Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 have been rated for PlayStation devices by the ESRB, implying that the two classic crime games are on the way to the PlayStation Network. Yup, if you're as surprised as we are this hadn't happened already, join us in the boat. Curiously, rumors of GTA and GTA 2 coming to PSN go all the way back to February 2008, when Official PlayStation Magazine first heard whispers. The other rumored game from that same article, Street Fighter Alpha, arrived in August 2008. GTA certainly took its time.

Take-Two Interactive, parent company of 2K Games and Rockstar Games, has clarified its E3 status to Joystiq. Take-Two plans to have meeting rooms at the show, but 2K's presence isn't planned. 2K Games announced earlier this week that it would not have a booth on the show floor at E3. That didn't necessarily mean the company wouldn't participate at all, since we've seen publishers in the past not have a booth, but hold meetings in the upstairs concourse.A representative for the Entertainment Software Association, which organizes the annual conference, tells us, "We can confirm that Take-Two Interactive Software is participating in E3 2013.""We are going to have a meeting room in the upper concourse level and we'll be doing some business meetings as we usually do," a Take-Two spokesperson tells Joystiq. "2K is not participating."As for Rockstar, the rebellious child of Take-Two, we're still waiting to hear official word if they plan to participate. Rockstar does not typically attend E3 and hasn't made any announcements.2K's scheduled projects for this year include The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Civilization V: Brave New World, XCOM: Enemy Unknown for iOS, more Borderlands 2 content, WWE 2K14 and NBA 2K14.

  • Rockstar shares the Grand Theft Auto soundtracks on iTunes and Spotify

Rockstar, the developers of the very popular Grand Theft Auto series, has kindly set up playlists for every one of the series' radio stations, for use in both iTunes and Spotify. The GTA series is well-known for its music, and when Rockstar ported both GTA3 and GTA: Vice City over to iOS, we were fortunate enough to get the great soundtracks with them. But, of course, you can't always be playing the game, so if you want to listen to the music on your own, you can load one of these up in iTunes, and listen away. Unfortunately, the games' commercials are not available in iTunes. Rockstar has set up a special "Advertising Council" site to let you listen in directly to the hilarious parody commercials from the series instead. And of course this is all done in prelude to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5, expected sometime later on this year. No word yet if there'll be a Mac (or even an iOS) release for the newest game, but we'll keep an ear open. [via Joystiq]

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories ride onto PSN next week for $9.99/£7.99 each. The last half-year saw the arrivals of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas on PSN as PS2 Classics, so it's no shock to see the two other PS2 GTA games join them. Both games originally released on PSP, of course, but it's the PS2 versions (playable on PS3) coming to PSN next week - the PSP versions are already there.

  • MMO Burnout: Two weeks in the valley with Multi Theft Auto

OK, you know that guy who's always going on about how bloody awesome it would be if someone ever made a working multiplayer mod for Skyrim? If you don't know him, well, you do now, because he's me. Back before I was bitten in earnest by the MMO bug, I spent quite a lot of time messing with private servers of both the Jedi Academy and Neverwinter Nights persuasions. And when I say "messing with," I don't mean I logged into them, I mean I hosted them, made mods and skins for them, and generally wasted significant portions of my youth serving as a GM. Needless to say, it was a blast, and the thought of having that experience again in a larger game world is just short of orgasmic. Alas, no one has made much of a multiplayer Skyrim mod yet, and while private servers for NWN and Neverwinter Nights 2 are still running and serving their niche communities quite capably, those are topics for another edition of MMO Burnout. I'd like to tell you about something similar that I've been playing lately, though. It's called Multi Theft Auto. %Gallery-177696%

Grand Theft Auto 5 will hijack Xbox 360 and PS3 retail on September 17, 2013. Publisher Rockstar Games says the game has been moved from its originally projected release window of spring in order to "allow additional development time.""We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months," said Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser.Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive and its investors are likely more eager for GTA 5 to launch than gamers, since the game's release is projected to deliver $600 million in revenues.

Twas the day before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... except for Rockstar's marketing department. This morning the developer posted several screenshots on the company's site for Grand Theft Auto 5 to elicit speculation. There's a swimming with sharks shot, along with a dog in the passenger seat of a car. Drive-by pooches confirmed?! There's also a mini submarine picture, as well as a shot featuring a commercial jet, a fighter jet and a blimp. No word yet if these are actual player-controlled vehicles for use in the game, but feel free to dream about that tonight, along with sugar plums dancing.

We're huge fans of the convenience of digital distribution – why trek out to the store like some caveman to buy a plastic disc when we could simply download a game through the innernette? Rockstar is trying to make a case for downloading by discounting four of its top games through Xbox Live's Games on Demand service. For today only, you can download LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 and Midnight Club: LA for 33% off each – that comes out to $20 for LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption, $40 for Max Payne 3 and $10 for Midnight Club: LA. All of the games save for Max Payne 3 are going for more than their Games on Demand sale price on Amazon right now.Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention three of these games are included in Rockstar Games Collection 1. The only game not included is Max Payne 3, but that's fine because Max just loves being the black sheep of the family.
