Happy Tuesday Morning, everyone! Probably the biggest news this week is the state of patch 4.1. Not only will it not include the Firelands, it won't have any raid content whatsoever. Of course, if our first runs are any indication, the new heroics may be epic enough to make up for it, and patch 4.2 will supposedly show up on the test servers almost immediately after patch 4.1 goes live. I'm pretty sure the delay is so Ragnaros can work on toning up his lower body a bit, though, so the delay's for a good cause. We'll only have to deal with rolling restarts at 5 a.m. Pacific time today, so you should be able to hop back on WoW pretty quickly. Still, while you're waiting for things to settle down, you may want to catch up on the latest happenings in and around the World of Warcraft. Check our usual roundup after the break.

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone! It's been another hectic week of bugs, balance issues, and hotfixes, all of which you can read about after the break in our usual roundup. Other than that, Love Is In The Air is gone for another year. Hopefully, you got what you wanted out of that. On the downtime front this morning, we have rolling restarts beginning at 5 a.m. PST, with all realms expected to be ready to roll again by 6 a.m. But hey, before you leap back into action, why not check out the latest headlines? You never know what you might have missed.

You know, you'd think we could be happy all this shiny new Cataclysm content -- but no, we're all about the future. We are all about what is next. We all want more, more, more. Blizzard's probably going to disappoint us again this week, though, as all we're getting this morning is a set of rolling restarts beginning at 5 a.m. PST. Sorry kids, it looks like we have at least another week until patch 4.0.6 drops in our laps. With that said, we're still digging deep into patch 4.0.6 and general Cataclysm stuff alike around here, and while we wait around for the patch to drop, there's still plenty to read up on. Rolling restarts still require at least a few minutes of downtime, so why not get caught up on WoW news while you wait? We have our usual roundup of the latest stuff below.

The past week has been largely dominated by discussion of patch 4.0.6, which isn't completely unexpected. The patch only recently made it to the PTR, and everybody loves talking about the new hotness. Cataclysm is old and busted now, right? Nobody wants to talk about that. All right, all right. I wouldn't call it old and busted, but patch 4.0.6 is bringing a lot of change to an already change-filled expansion. Classes, quests, and dungeons are all being buffed, nerfed, and fixed. Follow us behind the cut below to check out WoW Insider's top posts of the last week -- patch news and otherwise.

Over the holiday break, thanks to all of the companies that sent merchandise our way, WoW Insider gave away more prizes than we've ever given away for any previous event -- and this comes after our absolutely epic BlizzCon party wherein we gave away tons of goodies, and then the Cataclysm midnight release events where we (nearly) cleaned out the very last of our loot codes. However, now that things have calmed down, we've taken stock of the loot codes that went unused during Cataclysm's midnight release and we just might have some leftovers from WoWTCGLoot.com that we'll be giving away here in the Tuesday Morning Post. However, since these are the precious few pieces of loot we have left for now, we're going to run this thing a little differently. To find out how to enter, you'll need to follow us past the break, check out our top articles of the week, and head down to the end of the post.

Happy new year, everyone. The feast of Winter Veil is finally over, and though all I really did for it this year was loot my presents on one or two characters, I have to admit I'm still a little sad to see it go. It was fun to see all the festivities. Even poor shipwrecked sailors huddling in damp caves and praying for rescue couldn't resist putting up elaborate Winter Veil trees. That's holiday spirit, my friends, and we could all learn from that. Luckily, we don't have to wait too long for a new holiday. The Lunar Festival will be up before the end of the month. Will we have to go find dwarven ancestors in the depths of Grim Batol? Will zerging Omen at 85 be any different from zerging him at 80 or 70? We'll find out! For the time being, though, we still have a few weeks free of holiday distractions to continue the Cataclysm grind. You'll be rudely interrupted this morning by a series of rolling restarts at 5 a.m. Pacific time, which gives you some to catch up the latest news right here at WoW Insider. Read on for our usual roundup of all the hottest news and best guides from the past seven days.

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone! With the Christmas holiday in full swing, things were surprisingly short on the new front this past week. Fear not, though, we're making news of our own. With the end of the year fast approaching, we're spending the days taking a look back at our best work from the past year. Is your favorite article on our list? Now that Christmas is over and the presents unwrapped, did you get all the awesome WoW loot you asked Santa for? If not, don't fear, you might just have a second chance. The 12 Days of Winter Veil are in full swing here at WoW Insider, and we're still giving away all sorts of awesome loot. Just keep watching the site. Just because the news was slow doesn't mean the site was, as you can see. Keep on reading for more news and more guides to gearing your class and running the new dungeons. We do have some rolling restarts to deal with this morning, at 5 a.m. Pacific time, but after you've finished reading, you should be clear to jump right back into the game.

Happy Tuesday morning, everyone. The big news of the moment actually started up last night: The next phase of the pre-Cataclysm world event has begun. This means we're ever closer to patch 4.0.3 and the release of Cataclysm. It feels like we've really cleared a hurdle here, so better get that old content done while you can. Of course, there's plenty of other news to sift through. We have few articles left from BlizzCon, for example. Also in awesome news is that The Shattering now has a much-deserved slot on the New York Times best-seller list. Downtime for maintenance consists only of a quick set of rolling restarts at 5 a.m., but it can't hurt to take a break and do some reading, right? We have our usual roundup after the break.

    03.02.2010

Happy Tuesday Morning, everyone. While it was not perhaps a deluge, we did get a few tidbits of Cataclysm news this past week, beginning with the latest Twitter Developer Chat, where the devs dropped hints on such sundry topics as the purification of the plaguelands, cross-realm mail and raids, submarines, a new caverns of time instance, the new class/race combos, and the dance studio. Then we got a very nice info-dump with an informative post on the way statistics will work in Cataclysm. We've already started breaking down what the stat changes mean to various classes and specs, and if your class hasn't been analyzed yet, chances are it will be today or tomorrow. Combine that with some new info from the Patch 3.3.3 PTR, and Blizzard's really packed on the news this cycle. It's only rolling restarts this morning, but don't you deserve a break anyway? Check out our roundup of all the news after the break while you wait for your server to restart and for Ghostcrawler to deliver your moose.

  • Rolling restarts for January 23rd, 2010

    01.22.2010

It looks like we have some quick play disruption coming our way this Saturday morning, as Blizzard has announced rolling restarts for all realms at 5 AM pacific, or Noon pacific for Oceanic Realms. Judging by Ghostcrawler's words in a recent thread, this is likely meant to jump start the resilience hotfix. Either way, if you're one of those folks weird enough to get up early on a Saturday morning, you may as well grab another hour or sleep or so, since you may not be able to jump on WoW for a 15 minute window. There's still no word on Tuesday's downtime, so maybe we were spoiled by the past couple of weeks. Then again, maybe they're just seeing if they can get that minor patch ready for a release this week too. Either way, keep it here, and we'll keep you informed.

  • Rolling restarts and maintenance for June 23rd

I was pleasantly surprised to see the maintenance announcement for tomorrow morning available fairly early today. Most of the time, we don't actually know whether there will be maintenance or not until pretty late in the evening. Or I'm imagining that and this is the time we see it every week, who knows!Daytime players will be happy to hear that most realms are only getting rolling restarts. They'll be started at 5:00 AM PDT on North American realms and 10:00 AM PDT for Oceanic realms. There are a fair number of servers being hit with a real maintenance period, but it's only expected to take a few hours: Starting at 5:00 AM PDT and lasting until 8:00 AM PDT. Those realms are: Area 52, Arena Tournament 1, Arena Tournament 2, Auchindoun, Azuremyst, Blade's Edge, Blood Furnace, Coilfang, Dawnbringer, Exodar, Fizzcrank, Galakrond, Ghostlands, Grizzly Hills, Shattered Halls, Terokkar, The Scryers, The Underbog, Velen, and Zangarmarsh. If you're not sure what those times are in your time zone, the World Clock is a pretty simple tool to help you figure it out.As always, WoW.com will be here throughout the morning and afternoon should anything come up during maintenance. It's not a patch day, so we can be reasonably sure nothing will come up, but you never know.

  • European weekly maintenance: 10th June 2009

Welcome to Wednesday in Europe. While the Americans are still sleeping and dreaming of that next boss kill, it's a brand new day and, with it, a bunch of rolling restarts to boot. Yes, rolling restarts: it's a different kind of maintenance this week. We'll be getting fifteen minute warnings before the restarts take place between 5:00am and 7:00am CEST so do bear that in mind when you start that wee-small-hours-of-the-morning raid in Ulduar. The rest of the downtime is forum and website-side with both going offline between 3:00am and 5:00am CEST. So it's a relatively painless bout of maintenance this week, one I fully intend to sleep through. If you're looking for something to read on the bus to school or the commuter train to work, then Daniel W. has plenty for your to browse through. Personally I think it's just an excuse to post that Sailor Moon kitty form although I freely admit the anime fan in me is currently screaming loudly for my own senshi makeover.

  • Maintenance continues, restarts for many realms [UPDATED]

    by
    Alex Ziebart

    06.02.2009

Rolling restarts are currently in progress on many realms, apparently to address a talent issue that cropped up with patch 3.1.3. These restarts shouldn't take more than 2 hours across the board. Meaning that your server shouldn't be down for very long at all, because that two hour window is for the entire process. The battlegroups being hit with these restarts are: Ruin Vindication Rampage Shadowburn Stormstrike Nightfall Whirlwind Emberstorm Retaliation We're not sure if this will mean the end of today's maintenance woes, but we can hope.Update: They're still working on getting the downed realms into working order, but don't currently have an ETA. They say an update will come soon.

    04.23.2009

Another round of rolling restarts will be hitting realms in a few hours, starting at 5 AM PDT. Rolling restarts tend to be relatively painless, so you can probably expect your home server to be back up within a few short minutes unless they're doing something other than the simple restarts. These restarts have been happening very frequently lately, but as long as they're helping realm stability I really can't complain. For all the trouble Patch 3.1 has been, they're certainly working pretty hard to get things under control, and I can respect that.

There have been rolling restarts the past several days, which is nothing new. However on the morning of April 18th beginning at 5:00 a.m. PDT the realms will be restarted in order to correct a bug where items were missing from players backpacks after the previous restart. Not every player experienced this issue. For those that did, items which were in their bags when they logged off Monday night were not there when they finally got into the game after patch 3.1 was applied Tuesday evening.Blizzard blue poster Idrandra gives some specific instructions as to what you need to do to ensure the items are returned. More after the break.

    03.03.2009

It's been about a week since the 3.1 PTR dropped, and we've already had one small PTR Update and a couple more patch note updates. We haven't seen any major earthshattering new patches yet, but hey, we've had more than enough juicy new stuff to mull over anyway. We're expecting a new round of class changes to hit the PTR soon, but this morning, it's sort of quiet, especially on the live server side, where all we have is a few rolling restarts. Yeah, but anyway, on with the topic of the week, and likely of the next few weeks, patch 3.1. You'll want to keep our guide to 3.1 bookmarked if you haven't already, and after the break, you can check out a list of some the best articles from the past week, both 3.1-related and otherwise.

Tomorrow's downtime should be minimal, with only rolling restarts announced for the morning starting at 5:00 AM PST. Realms should be down, they say, no longer than 15 minutes, so hopefully that will prove true!Maintenance or not, WoW Insider will be here all day as usual. Should something go wrong and we're left serverless for awhile, or you're simply locked at work (or school) for the day, we'll have something to keep you busy and help you slack the day away. Why? Because we love you, baby.

Kisirani, "your friendly neighborhood World Designer" posted earlier tonight that they have a fix for the rather benign (or slightly annoying, depending on your take) bug that calls out "The Ice Stone has melted!" every once in a while. The fix will require the realms to be restarted, and according to Kisirani they will "be doing [the restarts] off-peak so we don't interrupt this evening's gameplay."So right on, Kisirani. Mystery of the melting ice solved.Now... about those clams...

    02.05.2009

Bornakk broke the news earlier today that all realms will be going down, saying that Blizzard needs to perform urgent rolling restarts today, Thursday. He notes that all realms will be down for approximately 15 minutes and that the procedure, slated to start at 10:30am PST, will last approximately one hour. However, reports indicate that restarts have taken on a different form than expected, as many realms went down several times for a short period several hours earlier. These rolling restarts, lasting no more than a few minutes per realm, occurred much earlier than Bornakk's announcement. Blizzard did not indicate what problems they will be fixing with these emergency restarts. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.
