  • Sega's #FreeStuffFriday includes lip balm! (And boring video game stuff)

Sega is at it again, giving away lots of free swag for its #FreeStuffFriday via Twitter. Up for grabs this week are lots of cool goodies including an autographed The Conduit poster, a MadWorld soundtrack, Bleach plushie and more. Without a doubt, though, the coolest part of the swag pack is the Sega branded lip balm. Just imagine the shock on your friends' faces when you whip out one of those bad boys to sooth your horribly chapped lips.Winning, appropriately enough, is as easy as following Sega's Twitter account (@SEGA, duh). Sega will, in turn, follow you. This Friday (that's tomorrow) at around 2:00 pm UK time, @SEGA will post a swag pack and a code phrase. The first person to send the code phrase to @SEGA via direct message wins the swag.Good luck nabbing that lip balm, though. That sucker is ours.

  • Authentic pink sweatshirts for Nintendo World Store Punch-Out!! pugilists

If you're in the New York City area and happen to be a Punch-Out!! fan, but, for some reason, weren't planning to attend the launch event at the Nintendo World Store, perhaps some... swag would change your mind. An unspecified number of participants in the Punch-Out!! Challenge will receive some of these awesome pink sweatshirts, just like the one Little Mac wears while training! Except that they have Punch-Out!! logos on them, which would be really weird and meta on Little Mac. In fact, now that we think about it, if you just bought a pink sweatshirt elsewhere, it would be more authentic. It wouldn't, however, be nearly as rare: the sweatshirts won't be made available for sale, according to the Punch-Out!! Twitter account. They'll only be available at this event. Speaking of exclusive swag, you can get a free poster if you purchase the game at Target.%Gallery-33381%[Via GoNintendo]

  • Mountain Dew Game Fuel website revealed, counting down

    by

    05.06.2009

We announced Mountain Dew Game Fuel quite awhile ago now, but it wasn't until recently that we've seen the official Game Fuel website. As you can see in the picture above, when you visit the site you're greeted with a countdown. The countdown says you can 'start earning tokens' when the countdown hits 0, which I assume means we'll be able to get our grubby nerd hands on the soda itself in just under 9 days. Unless they have some odd, magical way of gaining tokens beyond buying and drinking Game Fuel.Players with any interest in PC gaming or WoW swag at all will be pretty impressed with who they have on board for the prizes they'll supposedly be giving away every 15 minutes. J!NX handles most of the official WoW clothing, and Alienware... well, I've never actually used an Alienware product, but at least their stuff looks cool. That's a good thing, right? So far there's no evidence of those battle bots we saw being attached to the Game Fuel at all on that website, but there's that whole convoluted saying that's become so cliche over the years. The absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. We don't see it yet, but we may yet see it.[Thanks, Jeztur!]

  • Myndflame loot being offered for donations

If you're a machinima regular, you're probably familiar with Myndflame. The name can refer to the machinima website, where a wide and varied group of authors gather to share their work, comment on one another's pieces, and generally do the hang-out thing. Or, the name can refer to a specific set of artists, who put together pieces like Illegal Danish. That group's got a lot going on.The Myndflame team is offering a few select pieces of swag over on their official site, as rewarsd for charitable donations. They've got a few limited edition shirts available, as well as a couple discontinued CDs. The purpose of this offering, of course, it to help provide for the ongoing development of the Myndflame community. They've been working with Blizzard to promote a better understanding of machinima and machinima law, as well as working to try and get more people involved in machinima creation. The items have a little history to them. The shirts were produced for the Myndflame team, and one was given away at Blizzcon 2008. The remainder are the only ones left from that print run, and remain crispy clean and unworn. The CDs are only available digitally nowadays, so it seems likely these originals come from someone's personal stash. If you know someone who's a fan of the Illegal Danish series, these might make a nice gift -- Clint's offered to sign and personalize anything you get.

  • compLexity hosts a machinima contest at NoobFlicks.com

compLexity Gaming has apparently just started up a new machinima site called Noobflicks.com, and to help promote it, they're hosting a machinima contest. To enter, all you have to do is put their little intro tag on your machinima, and upload it to their site before the end of April, and you'll be eligible to win some cash. The contest is called the $1000 World of Warcraft Movie Contest, but the most you can win is $150 -- they're doing three different contests in May, June, and July. It'll be a public vote for three winners selected from ten chosen by the highest rating on the site, the most views, and four more chosen by the site's staff.Whew. Sounds complicated, but there's also some Creative swag on the line (as well as even possibly a salaried machinima position), so as long as you post a good bit of machinima and make sure it tops views or ratings, you'll be good to go. We'll keep an eye out for the winners -- you may end up seeing them in our very own Moviewatch column, posted every day at noon.[ Thanks, Josh W! ]

There's one thing you really can't deny - the MMO genre has sorely needed some shiny new post-apocalyptic titles for some time now. Thankfully it looks like Fallen Earth's development is proceeding at a solid pace. With any luck we'll be able to jump in and get our post-apocalyptic warfare on before too long. As a way of working with the community to ensure that Fallen Earth is as solid they can possibly make it, the developers from Icarus Studios have been scheduling play-dates with the beta testers, followed by an open chat on Stratics for everyone who is curious - tester and non-tester alike. This month's chat, going on tomorrow at 9:00 PM EDT, should prove to be highly interesting, as not only will there be several developers on hand, but there's been talk of some swag (and beta keys) to be handed out as well! You can get all the details over on the Fallen Earth forums if you're interested in checking out more on this upcoming MMO. [via WarCry]

  • Palm Pre handled, handed out to celebrities?

    02.23.2009

There seems to be no shortage of chatter about celebrities and their new Palm handsets today. We already knew that stars attending the Independent Spirit Awards would be getting a swag bag containing -- among other things -- a Palm Pre, and based on the coverage we're seeing from the event (held on the 21st), they at least got to handle them. It's actually difficult to say if Palm was giving the device out that night or putting people on a waiting list, but what it does make clear is that the Pre can't be too far from launch if the company felt comfortable enough to throw them into such an uncontrolled setting. Does this mean the release date is nearer than we think, or is Palm just hoping that a little of that star power rubs off on the phone? Either way, we're super jealous of Eliza Dushku.Update: According to a Tweet from Palm (which links this post -- meta!), these were just there to be played with, not handed out.[Thanks, Marques]

Just a quick pointer: Joystiq is currently giving away a copy of Left 4 Dead and a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force X3 Headphones. These bad boys generally sell for $100, and they allow players to block out the pesky, distracting sounds of the real world (lawn mowers, spouses) in order to better immerse themselves in something much more important: video games. Trust us when we say that sound is especially important in Left 4 Dead (as anyone that's been vomited on by a Boomer can tell you). The headphones also include a microphone so you can still chat during Xbox Live gaming sessions. Oh, and we should mention that they are wireless.Head over to Joystiq for your chance to win.

It's that time again, everybody: time to sheepishly visit Burger King every day and buy a Kids' Meal for Nintendo freebies, all while trying to shut out thoughts of how disappointed your father would be to see you like this. Shame, shame. The fast food chain is giving away a bunch of different toys based on the Wii and its games, and all it wants in return is cash and a willingness to clog up your own arteries. We like the "Chain Chomp Launcher" the best, though the "Float and Go Boo" and "Light-Up Luma" are also nice. Plus, we can always keep telling ourselves we'll sell all this on eBay in the future for a small fortune. Yes, that'll do: it's an investment in our future. Pictures and details of all ten follow the break.

There is a ton of people here. Looks like everyone wants to pickup their tickets early. Amazing crowd and amazing goodies.
