Fallout 3 teaser trailer will never, ever let you down
Those who saw that headline and hoped for a pre-E3 (forgive the pun) bombshell will likely be disappointed by the above teaser trailer for Bethesda's take on the classic post-apocalyptic RPG franchise, Fallout -- a thirty second sneak peek at Fallout 3's scenic wasteland and bleak tone waits behind that play button, and not much else. However, upon careful inspection, one can glean a valuable life lesson from the above teaser -- should your residence ever be threatened by an atomic attack, your best chance for survival (other than climbing into the nearest lead-lined refrigerator, of course) involves surrounding yourself with monochromatic television sets. Indestructible and entertaining, your impromptu TV fort will be the most popular bomb shelter in town!
Sony teaser points to laptop refresh on Monday
Sony Style is running a rather large teaser on its main page, featuring a quite distinctive power button and the blurb "Performance / Style / Mobility. Redefined." Hrm. We wonder what it could be?[Thanks, Mathias S.]
Nintendo UK mag promises Animal Crossing deets
Animal Crossing is coming. This is a fact. What form it will take when it does arrive is a deeper mystery. Somebody at the UK edition of the Official Nintendo Magazine knows the answer to this, damn them, and they aren't afraid to shout about it.The above image (art from Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS) appears on the "Coming Next Month" page in the latest issue of the mag, and was dutifully scanned and internetalized by a Go Nintendo reader for all of us to speculate about. "It's been a while," reads the accompanying caption, keeping us on tenterhooks. "It's time to revisit an old friend. How's your village doing these days?"All of which is very exciting, but by the time the next edition of Official Nintendo Magazine appears (August 1st), we may have already heard more from E3. Either way, we'll know something about this game soon. Prepare your Golden Shovels, everybody!
Has the splash screen mystery been solved?
So if you've been living under a rock here's the news: Blizzard announced Diablo 3 at the World Wide Invitational's opening address. This has brought much delight to many fans, and closure to the many who believed that the changing splash screen has pointed to this game. During the address the splash screen changed to a flash teaser of the latest in the demonic property. It a pretty exciting announcement, but I'm not convinced that this is the only thing there. The demon in the logo does match up with the eyes and brow of the central character, but the flash does not add to the existing chain of splash screens. This bit of news also fails to explain the interesting icy bit in the lower left hand corner of image 5.5.
WWI Predictions by WoW Insider
The 2008 Worldwide Invitational is going down this weekend in Paris, and everyone is abuzz about what might happen. Will we see a release date for Wrath of the Lich King? What is that teaser on the Blizzard page all about? And will we finally, almost eight years to the day since the last game was released, see a new Diablo game? You've got questions, we've got predictions. We here at WoW Insider have put our collective heads together to predict exactly what we'll see at the press conferences and ceremonies this weekend, and each blogger's predictions are after the jump. We're putting it all up front now, so that afterwards, we can see if we were right or wrong. And you're welcome to join us -- put your prediction (or just agree or disagree with ours) in the comments below.Of course, we're all guessing based on rumors and hearsay at this point -- we won't know for sure what's going on until Blizzard confirms it this weekend, and of course WoW Insider will be there to let you know right away. But in the meantime, here's what we think we're going to hear about from Paris in the next few days.
The Daily Grind: Would you play a Diablo MMO?
Whether or not this Blizzard teaser has anything to do with Diablo -- and/or Blizzard's next-gen MMO -- we have to wonder how many of you would be interested in playing an MMO version of Diablo. There's definitely a segment of you out there who would be completely fine with an MMO-style Diablo 2 complete with modernized graphics, but somehow we're thinking Blizzard would try a bit harder than that. Mechanically speaking, a Diablo MMO would probably be very different from its older brethren, but it also couldn't be too similar to World of Warcraft either. There would probably be some mechanical similarities and head-nods towards the games that came before it but for the most part we imagine the Diablo MMO as a very different experience.There's also the chance that a new Diablo game could be part singleplayer and part MMO, which would merely be an extension of previous games. So what do you think? Does any of this sound good to you or would you rather just play more World of Warcraft -- or even World of Starcraft -- instead?
Blizzard's splash screen changes for June 25th, reveals new rune
I'm sure by now you've heard of the strange splash screen that has appeared on Blizzard's major websites, and seen the progression from day 1 to day 2, and read our report on it here at WoW Insider. As expected, a new splash screen has just appeared on Blizzard's main site. This time, a large chunk of the ice in the middle of the picture seems to have broken away. Unfortunately, we still can't make out much of anything through the ice, though we've already had a tipster or two comment to say that it may be the night sky. If so, does that mean we're inside some sort of icy tomb or cavern looking out? There's also a new rune located in the bottom left hand corner of the breaking ice. The meaning of the new rune is still up in the air. Diabloii.net points out that it looks a lot like a Protoss symbol found on the official Starcraft 2 site. Blizzard's icy splash screen changes as Diablo 3 and WoTLK speculation intensifies
We reported yesterday about the new icy splash screen which has appeared on many of Blizzard's corporate and gaming sites. There's already tons of speculation speeding around the web about it, and of course the pot was only stirred all the more this morning when the picture changed slightly: the light in the middle of the cracked ice became brighter, and there's some new detail that can be seen through the ice, including a rune of some sort just to the upper right of the center. we can probably assume that the picture will change more each day until something is announced at the Worldwide Invitational. However, the question remains: What is being announced? Right now, there's two major schools of thought about it: One school says that this will lead up to the announcement of the WoTLK Beta, while another says that this will be the announcement of Diablo 3. Each side has some pretty passionate arguments, and are bringing the analysis to back it up. Let's look at what we have after the break. %Gallery-25975%
More signs of cold on official sites
It's Monday morning and new hints of cold have appeared around Blizzard's official web sites. If you visit the Blizzard corporate site, or the front page of the community sites, you got a crystallized image of ... something. It's pretty hard to tell what you're looking at, except that it's icy and maybe cavernous. While this is pretty obviously a teaser graphic of some kind, there is no text or other graphics detailing what Blizzard's hinting at. It's a safe bet that the graphic is related to Wrath of the Lich King. Some speculation posits that we might be about to see the actual release date. Of course, it could be related to Ahune and the Midsummer festivities -- but I don't think so. I also don't think this is a mistake that's going to be reverted -- since it's on the corporate site and the official sites, it seems purposeful. We'll let you know more as it happens.
Blizzard.com teases everyone with new splash page
What does it mean when Blizzard teases us so? Well, it could mean many things. This very type of teaser has been used for several other announcements in the past, so your guess is as good as ours. If we had to wager an educated guess, we would say that a closed beta start date and release date is about to be announced for Wrath of the Lich King coinciding with the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational. Although we'd also love to think that Blizzard was close to announcing their next MMO, but that probably won't happen for a very long time.Then again, as far as we know Blizzard has never teased us about a release date. So if you want to start making your wild guesses now, that piece of information is a good place to start. If it's not WotLK-related, our second guess would be an announcement that Diablo 3 is being "thawed out" for everyone in the near future. Yeah, we know it's a (lame) stretch -- but that's half the fun of it!Update: After some poking around, we've discovered something interesting. Out of all the Blizzard websites, diablo.com is the only one that points our browsers to this splash page. Simple coincidence or subtle hint? We'll let you guys be the judge.Update 2: Apparently diablo.com has pointed to blizzard.com for a while now. It looks like simple coincidence is much more likely in this scenario.
Call of Duty: World at War Teaser Trailer
With COD4 still so popular, Activision and Treyarch needed to take the series in another direction if they wanted to see another installment sell well this fall. Since the announcement of Call of Duty: World at War there really hasn't been much seen of the game. Sadly while the teaser trailer does give us a short glimpse of the game, it is only that, a teaser. So for those of you who haven't gotten the trailer from the Marketplace, GameTrailers TV has a teaser trailer up too (which is embedded after the break due to GTTV's flash player being a bit finicky these days.)
Rabbids crash Euro 2008
The Rabbids are funny. It's especially funny when they get into situations where freaky white blob animals aren't the norm. Like, a soccer game. This latest teaser for Raving Rabbids TV Party shows one particular Rabbid getting in a bit of trouble after crashing the field at Euro 2008.Kudos goes out to Ubisoft for putting together great little teaser films like this. Video game advertising can sometime get a little stale, and originality ensures gamers continue hitting that play button. The Rabbids can tease better than pretty much anyone else.%Gallery-23883%

'Skate' bored? EA teases Skate 2 gameplay twist
Nintendo Wii owners will get a chance to Skate It this fall, but EA hasn't forgotten that those with current-gen HD consoles are also ready for their own follow-up to the game that made the last Tony Hawk look like a turkey. Two new videos posted to the official Skate site -- "What happened to that Dude?" and "What happened to San Vanelona?" -- feature skaters talking up players' feats in the first game and about how the city has changed since then, before heading into some brief gameplay clips and a teaser logo for Skate 2 (above).According to the skaters in the clips, five years have passed in the gameworld -- Skate's fictional city of San Vanelona -- and large corporations have spearheaded a big-time crackdown on skating. They talk of harsher punishment than mere tickets and how obstacles have been put in place near rails and other prime trick spots to discourage skaters. Still, the second clip shows a skater and his board perched defiantly atop a concrete block with a "No Skateboarding" sign affixed to it. So, skateboarding is a crime after all -- at least in Skate 2 -- and it looks like you'll be sticking it to the man (in this case, big business) a la Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure.%Gallery-23257%
New AoC trailer promises gender equality in ass-kicking
"They say it's a man's world -- is it, baby?" - Keaira, as she ruthlessly plunges a blade through a man's heart. A new trailer called "Femme Fatale" shows off the lethal women of Age of Conan, and why you will want to stay on their good side. Keaira is the star, and she and other Hyborian lasses do their part in making sure no one underestimates the fairer sex in AoC. Duo of new AoC videos includes UI tutorial
Two new videos are being featured at the Age of Conan official community site, one being a general trailer for the game, and the other a tutorial on the game's user interface. The tutorial, hosted by Gamespot, goes over the basic elements of the UI, and for the most part it seems like standard MMO fare -- hp, stamina, and mana bars, hot bars, mini-map and so on.The trailer is available for downloading from the community site, and is uncharacteristically rated for all ages -- it's not really combat focused, and the weapon swings don't give those satisfying sprays of blood that we've become delightfully accustomed to. Nevertheless, fans hungry for more of the game's pretty graphics will not be disappointed.
Rooster Teeth reveals new series: Reconstruction
If you've kept up with the five seasons (and multiple spin-off miniseries) of Rooster Teeth's (mostly) comedic Halo-based series "Red vs. Blue", then their recent announcement (with accompanying teaser trailer) of a brand new chapter in their seminal machinima franchise should definitely tickle your fancy. However, it seems that the Teeth have left their lollerskates at home for this one -- though the cast list tacked to the end of the above video shows that many of the series' voice actors are making a return, the trailer lacks the Spanish-speaking robots, megalomaniacal medics, and pregnant men that we've become accustomed to seeing in the "RvB" universe. Still, with production values like this, we couldn't be more on board.
Acer "blue" teased for mystery launch
That friends, is Acer's teaser for a new "notebook PC concept" set for release in New York later today. We're not sure what it is, but it's not very often that the unveiling of a concept device (which may or may not be manufactured) warrants a press event hosted by a company's president. In this case, Acer's Vista-hatin' prez, Gianfranco Lanci. Whatever it is, that hint of a multi-media, touch controller is not something we'd expect to see on their Eee PC killer.[Thanks, Daniel]

Zenum issues season's greetings, teaser shot in one fell swoop
So Swiss outfit Zenum sent us this little gem in the mail this weekend (click on the gallery below to see a bigger shot of it), and we don't think that red cloth is stuck there on accident, if you know what we're saying. What is it? It almost looks like the display slides back and forth while the bottom half doesn't, possibly revealing two different keypads -- though we'll be the first to admit that it's a wild guess. The company's previous effort, the Opus, is based on Windows Mobile 6, so we wouldn't be surprised if this sucker met the same fate. Happy New Year indeed, Zenum; we'll be anxiously waiting to find out more.%Gallery-12204%
