Honor has unveiled the flagship View40 5G, its first phone since it was sold off by Huawei.
AT&T phones now show when calls come from verified numbers
AT&T is making good on its promise to validate calls and fight robocallers. The carrier has enabled validation displays that let you know when a call really did come from a given number. You'll need a Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ or LG V40 ThinQ to use this away from home (it's also available for digital home phone users), but it works same way regardless of platform. If a call has been validated ,you'll see a green checkmark next to the number as well as "valid number" below.

So far this year, we've seen LG release three pricey smartphones: the LG V30S ThinQ, the V35 ThinQ and the G7 ThinQ. (It's pronounced "thing-cue," by the way, and saying it never gets more pleasant.) The fourth, and presumably final, big device of the year is arguably the company's most ambitious. Sure, the new LG V40 ThinQ packs many of the same components you'll find in the rest of the year's high-powered flagships. It also packs a whopping five cameras (three rear and two front-facing), raising the bar for smartphone-camera insanity that you can expect to see other major phone makers embrace in due time. But what is it actually like to live with?
LG may unveil a hybrid Wear OS watch October 3rd
For months, reports have suggested LG is working on a smartwatch that combines Wear OS and physical watch hands. It appears that the company will reveal said wearable, called LG Watch G7, at the V40 ThinQ smartphone launch next week, according to VentureBeat's Evan Blass.

We'll get our hands on the LG V40 ThinQ October 3rd, but in Korea the company has partially lifted the curtain on its latest V-series phone. While the line has grown more conventional since the release of the V10 a few years ago, this one separates itself from the pack by bringing the previously-rumored five cameras -- three in the back and two up front.

It's official: LG has yet another V-series phone on the way this year. The Korean tech giant has sent invitations to a V40 ThinQ launch event on October 3rd, with a not-so-subtle "take five" reference hinting at the device's photographic skills. There aren't any other clues, but previous scoops suggested that the V40 would have three cameras on the back (à la Huawei's P20 Pro) to provide zoom and portrait mode effects, while dual cams on the front could provide face recognition. It'd also borrow G7 ThinQ elements like a notched display, Snapdragon 845 and Google Assistant button while offering V-series features like the Quad DAC.
LG may squeeze five cameras into its next flagship phone
LG may be taking a cue from The Onion when it comes to overkill product design. A source talking to Android Police claims that the next V-series smartphone (possibly the V40 ThinQ, according to Evan Blass) will include five cameras. Suddenly, Huawei's P20 Pro seems downright conservative. Two of them would sit on the front and might be used for depth-based face recognition, while the remaining three would sit on the back and could provide new depth-of-field or zoom effects.
Nokia 5800 firmware update adds kinetic scrolling, revised home screen
Nokia has started rolling out what appears to be a major new firmware build for the venerable 5800 XpressMusic, bringing a couple key features to the phone that inaugurated S60 5th Edition over a year ago. And seriously, by all accounts, this is a big one -- in addition to kinetic scrolling, the v40 release apparently brings the 5800's home screen up to spec with the 5530's and an automatic switch to QWERTY mode input when using the handset in landscape. This would certainly seem like the perfect time to put that new Windows 7-capable NSU client to the test, too, since it's apparently not yet available over the air -- and if we had to guess, not all product codes of the 5800 are seeing it yet either, so stay close and check often until you manage to grab it.
