There's a slight problem. We haven't been able to download the new Virtual Console titles yet. We've been encountering the same error code when trying to access the Wii Shop Channel for the better part of the day. Is anyone else out there getting an error when trying to connect? Also, we've been thinking about how we cover the weekly releases on the VC, and we wanted to know if you could answer a question for us:How would you like the information covered?-Pictures (How we've done it so far, picture and brief paragraph for each game)-Video (Video of each game, including start up and gameplay)Let us know in the comments!

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gaming_news/This_week_on_the_Wii_s_Virtual_Console_Tecmo_Bowl'; This week, we're given a trio of delicious Virtual Console titles to snack on. The Virtual Console has certainly been in the news lately, however the expected arrival of StarFox 64 and Actraiser just didn't happen. Instead, we're left with some titles that gamers may not be too excited about. We, however, could not help but be excited as we have many a fond memory of playing Tecmo Bowl with relatives on Thanksgiving when we were younger. At the risk of boring you to death, we'll shut up about our past and just present the games: Tecmo Bowl - NES - 1-2 players - 500 Wii Points Sonic Spinball - Sega Genesis - 1-4 players - 800 Wii Points Double Dungeons - TurboGrafx16 - 1-2 players - 600 Wii Points So, what were you guys expecting to hit the VC this week? Disappointed from this week's offerings? As always, be sure to come back later for our verdict on these Virtual Console titles.[Via press release]

This week's games have been downloaded and we've given each of them a lengthy play, ready to make a verdict on which games are worth your money and which ones aren't. This week saw us receiving one well-known title, along with two less-known games. For you Turbografx16 fans out there, no luck as the Virtual Console didn't get any games for that system. So, without further ado, read on and see what we thought!

    03.05.2007

It's another week and that means we've got some more Virtual Console games available for download. Leading the pack this week is an awesome classic from Capcom where players must vanquish evil as the good knight Arthur. As for the other two games available for download, we have no frame of reference. We'll have to give them a download before speaking about them. For those of you who have never enjoyed the platforming goodness that is the sequel to the arcade titles Ghosts n' Goblins and Ghouls n' Ghosts, we can safely say before downloading the title that it's worth 800 Wii Points. Regardless, without further delay, here are the facts: Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts - SNES - 1 player - 800 Wii Points Elevator Action - NES - 1-2 players - 500 Wii Points Sword of Vermilion - Sega Genesis - 1 player - 800 Wii Points Of course, you'll want to stop back later for our post-game wrap-up on today's Virtual Console offerings.Previous Virtual Console updates can be found here.

Well, it's that magical time of the week again where Wii owners get to download fresh digital data via the console's Virtual Console service. This week we've only got three titles, however one is easily argued as being the greatest game ever made (damn you Water Temple designers). So let's take a dip in the digital distribution service and see if these games are worth your hard-earned Wii Points, shall we?

We all knew a little title by the name of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was going to hit the Virtual Console today, but we didn't expect Link to arrive with some friends. That's right, you'll still be able to play a new title from the Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx16 library of games this week, which should bring some joy to gamers who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on the GameCube and received the pre-order bonus of an updated version of Ocarina of Time (including the Japanese Master Quest version). Without further delay, the titles on tap are: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) Chew Man Fu (TurboGrafx16, 1 - 2 players, 600 Wii Points) Bio-Hazard Battle (Sega Genesis, 1 - 2 players, 800 Wii Points) We know our resident TurboGrafx16 junkie will be happy to see Chew Man Fu on the list, but what are you happy to see? What will you be downloading? And, as usual, be sure to stop back later for our verdict on what is and isn't worth your precious Wii Points.

As of right now, Donkey Kong Country still hasn't gone live on the Virtual Console and we're getting a bit upset. Deadlines are set in stone, however, and we must go on with our post-game wrap-up of this week's new titles (we'll update the post later with impressions of Donkey Kong Country). So, go on past the post break and see what we thought of this week's offerings.Update: Donkey Kong Country is available for download. We have added our impressions past the post break.

    02.19.2007

It's that time of the week again where we all hastily jump to our Wii Shop Channel and take a look at the latest digital wares around for download. This week, we've got a handful of new titles, which should be plenty enough to tide over Wii owners for a week. These titles are: Donkey Kong Country (Super NES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Streets of Rage (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) The Legend of Kage (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) New Adventure Island (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) Obviously the top two titles getting all of the attention are none other than Donkey Kong Country and Streets of Rage, but that doesn't mean that gamers should overlook The Legend of Kage or New Adventure Island. Be sure to come back later to read our impressions of this week's Virtual Console line-up.[Via press release]
