Thanko releases "USB heat slippers dual"
Trying to avoid the chill that sweeps through the office during the winter months, we have been forced to either remain stationary, or do a bunny hop to get around in our USB heating slippers. Now, Thanko -- the company keeping us comfortable by our computers -- is allowing us to do the two-step with their new product. The aptly named "USB heating slippers dual" has two heating settings -- reaching a maximum temperature of 50 degrees F -- and individually powered slippers, assuring that each foot is cozy. Coupled with all their other products, we have never been happier bloggers.[Via Brando]

I really didn't know if you were serious and that these existed so I checked the previous blog entry too. I'm not sure if they should be declared brilliant or scary!

"reaching a maximum temperature of 50 degrees F"
Is that suppose to be above ambient cause otherwise that has to be a typo.

50 degrees F? That's it? Geeze, I'd forgo the slippers entirely, and just turn up the heat...

Couple these with those usb heated gloves and you will start looking like one of those dodgy 80's Virtual Reality users.
You know the ones im talking about. Where if they magically put on gloves and in this case slippers they are transported to the virtual reality InTeRnEt!

50 degrees Celsius = 122 degrees Fahrenheit would sound a little more like it..
BigD @ Dec 30th 2006 8:27AM
I hope that is 50 degrees Celsius.

Should be interesting if whoever buys these gets up quickly, forgets that their feet are connected to the PC/laptop and drag it with them.

Why don't they just give these things an AC adapter? USB pumps out what, 5v at 500mA? Give it a power brick, crank up the head, and reduce the risk of dragging your laptop all over the room.

Now if they only made a Bluetooth version. Oh, wait...

I just put my footsies down by the desktop (why the hell is it called a desktop, when I keep it on the floor?) tower where those AMD goodies keep me all toasty nice.
