Newsmy (or Newman, as it were) may not be a household name here in the States, but it's good for pumping out new portable media players at a decent clip over in the Far East. Thankfully, there's this amazing invention called the "internet," which essentially enables folks all over the world to trade currency for product. For those interested in the ho hum player shown above -- which features a 4.3-inch display (480 x 272), 720p TV output, an absurd list of supported file formats and 16GB of internal storage -- it can be shipped your way for the intriguing price of $129.86. Oh, and did we mention that this thing can play "64 games?" Look out, iPod touch![Via PMP Today]

  • Newsmy A8HD probably looks better than it really is

After the lustrous ManMan and retro Cool Man, Newsmy has now surprised us with a straight-laced number in the form of the 8GB 4.3-inch A8HD. Packing a pair of serious-looking speakers and a "high definition" microphone, this has all the intent in the world to break away from the cheap knockoff label, but you already know what you're gonna get: a shiny pretty paintjob outside and someone's leftover parts on the inside. Common audio and video formats are supported, and there's even a rather dubious claim of 720p playback. Maybe once the price and release date are cleared up, we'll saunter over to China and check it out for ourselves. Or not. [Via Akihabara News]

  • Newman ManMan A1 is way too manly for us

Seriously, you just can't find a PMP that's any manlier than this. For starters, the phrase "man" is used three times in the product name (Newman ManMan A1), and secondly, it's fluorescent pink in color. Clearly, Newman is aiming at those with a soft spot in their hearts for the previous generation iPod nano, and the SmartTouch UI even gives users that CoverFlow feel without all the paperwork involved in buying a legitimate device. On the plus side, this thing can handle the more exotic audio formats like OGG and FLAC, and those repulsed by the pink can opt for a blue version when it hits Chinese street vendors later this month.[Via PMP Today]

  • Newsmy MP3 dolls will entertain, creep out your children

From the looks of it, there's a fierce storm brewing (see photo), and it's probably due to our excitement at the prospects of this rather unsettling MP3 doll for children. There's a real paucity of information about the fire-haired pair, but their names appear to me Man-Man and Niu Niu. Their controls seem to be in the hands and feet, they boast an automatic shutdown feature, and the players are "hidden" in the guts of the doll to ensure safety. That doesn't really do a whole lot to reassure us that the dolls aren't somehow dangerous, but as long as they don't scream "give me the boy and I'll let you live!" we figure it's probably fine. No details about price or availability. [Thanks, Bill]

  • SanDisk's Sansa Fuze clearly rubbed off on Newsmy's M521+

We can't (with a clean conscience) carelessly fling Newsmy's M521+ into the KIRF pile -- though we'd sure love to. It's hard impossible to miss the design cues ripped directly from SanDisk's Sansa Fuze, though the unit does have just enough uniqueness to keep it from being a bona fide clone. Reportedly, the device packs an FM tuner, FM transmitter, support for MP3 / WMA / APE / FLAC / AVI formats, a photo / text viewer and an interface that we wouldn't let our worst enemies use. Oh wait, is that the iTunes logo? Is it too late to reconsider that whole KIRF eligibility thing.[Via PMPToday]

Newsmy, which we can only presume is really Newman based on history, has just introduced its latest portable media player: the F4. Not a lot is known about this critter just yet, but we do know it packs a 1.3-megapixel camera, movie recording mode and enough file formats to not even mention specifics. Heck, we're told it will even upload clips to YouTube, though we're pretty far from believing that it's true. Best of all, it's attempting to disrupt the space-time continuum with MP6 support, though we suppose it could land softly between MP5 and MP7 if all the stars align correctly. No word on a price or availability date, but it's probably for the best.[Via PMPToday, thanks BrianB]
