With the 8130 and the 8830 already in Telus' BlackBerry lineup, the natural next step for any CDMA carrier to take is to launch the recently-spied CDMA Curve, of course. Indeed, it looks like Telus is stepping up to the plate and doing the right thing here, thanks to a sharp-eyed HowardForums member who captured a shot of Telus' site showing the 8330 on sale for $199.99 CAD (about $203) on a three-year contract. 'Course, like a mirage, the mysterious 8330 vanished into thin air -- its time hasn't come yet -- but we expect it'll be back in the mix in short order now.Separately, we've heard from another tipster that both the Curve and a Samsung U720 can be found in metadata associated with Telus' media player. What's the U720, you ask? We're not sure, but they're calling it the "Flipper" and it looks suspiciously like Verizon's U740, alias "Alias." No word yet on when exactly the Canadian carrier will commit to putting these new pieces up on its site for keeps.[Thanks, Tal and John]

We may not know when this thing's going to be at retail, but hey -- at least we'll know our way around the external controls by the time it does. A tipster has graciously hooked us up with overview documentation for the Samsung U740 for Verizon, an off-the-beaten-path, swiveling musicphone that has apparently been christened "Juke." The key legend doesn't reveal anything too terribly special, though we're happy to see a speakerphone made the cut despite the unit's diminutive outline. Our tipster tells us "it's your basic Verizon Wireless phone," so beyond a music player, stereo Bluetooth, and a trick mechanism that'll impress friends (for a few days, anyway), we're banking on a reasonably low price point. How's everyone feeling about the form factor?[Thanks, anonymous tipster]%Gallery-7802%

Just when we started to warm up to the original's champagne hue, Verizon and Samsung have teamed up to give us the color many of us would've preferred to begin with. That's right: as expected, the dual-pivot u740 is now available dressed in black from head to toe, without any of that not-quite-silver, not-quite-beige craziness of its forebear. Not to say existing owners need to get too jealous -- specs are, of course, identical. Get it now for a Franklin after contract and rebates.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

  • Motorola W385, black U740 in the pipe for Verizon

Not feeling the Samsung U740's champagne hue? Good news: Verizon's latest rebate form reveals that a black version is in the works, arguably more appropriate for the phone's largely business-oriented demographic. Other goodies on the form are few and far between, though our tipster does point out that the Motorola W385 makes an appearance, offering KRZR-like styling in a lower-end package. No word on release for either, though the rebates expire on May 13 -- take that for what you will.[Thanks, anonymous tipster]

There are many phones that solicit the response as in "I want it now" -- and no handsets evoke that from many text-centric customers like a dual-hinge QWERTY email and text messaging experience. Well, if you're a fan (or subscriber) of Verizon Wireless and you paid attention to Samsung announcements at CES recently, you'll be glad to hear that the Samsung SCH-U740 is now available from that carrier (according to them). The U740 is not really a groundbreaker per se, but the dual-hinge design just took a large step further with the U740's slim body. If you run into the U740 at a Verizon store this week, drop us a comment and let us know if it's indeed in the wild. Until then, the absolute best quote from the Verizon release is this: "available in a stylish metallic champagne color with couture appeal and Ivy League brainpower." Harvard and Princeton grads -- this one's all yours.

Ladies and gentlemen, get those typing thumbs fired up -- it's so close now, we can almost feel that dual hinge flipping to and fro in our hands. Sources tell us we can expect at least an online launch of the Samsung U740 on February 14, with units filtering into stores about a week later. Full retail should run $320, one year contract pricing at $250, and two year at $200 with a $50 mail-in rebate. Continue on for more visual stimulation![Thanks, anonymous tipsters]

We're trying to do everything we can to ease the crushing pain our dual-pivot loving readers face each and every day that the U740 goes unreleased -- and on that note, here's another batch of eye candy. We hope it serves as a gentle reminder to Verizon that we'd like this thing to launch this century s'il vous plait, and as a reminder to D307 fans not to give up hope just yet (if you're willing to switch networks, anyway). • Samsung teases with the U740, still no launch date

The dual-pivot U740 is making the rounds at CES, though there's not much new to report that we didn't already know: the camera's still 1.3 megapixels, it's still got a microSD slot, Bluetooth, and EV-DO, and -- oh yeah -- the crazy D307-like QWERTY keyboard's still there, too. It's no secret that the phone will find a home on Verizon, but we still don't have a price or launch window. Do we spy some touch-sensitive music controls there?
