Motorola's ROKR U9, U3 and W5 pictured / detailed

While whispers and supposed shots of Motorola's ROKR U9 have been around for a tick, the PEBL-icious handset -- along with the similarly styled U9 and the W5 clamshell -- are finally getting detailed. Reportedly, the U9 will tout a 1.4-inch 160 x 128 resolution OLED (externally), two-megapixel camera, GSM / GPRS / EDGE connectivity, a 1.8-inch QVGA screen (internal), microSD expansion slot, USB, Bluetooth, and "touch sensitive keys." The U3 looks to be an entry-level sibling with a less attractive external display and a VGA camera, while the ROKR W5 will purportedly include a 1.3-megapixel camera, a 1.9-inch 220 x 176 resolution display, 20MB of internal storage, a microSD slot, 96 x 85 pixel external screen, miniUSB, Bluetooth, A2DP support, and quad-band GSM connectivity. No word on pricing or release dates just yet, but do click on for a few more pictures.

Giles Deacon-designed Asus laptop now available

While they may not boast quite the same name recognition as Asus's line of Lamborghini-branded laptops, the company's new Giles Deacon-designed laptops look like they should attract their fair share of attention nonetheless. Dubbed "Giles for Intel," the limited edition laptops are based on Asus's standard W5 model, with the notable addition of a custom-designed print on the lid, available in your choice of "male" or "female" designs. Otherwise, the laptops appear to be unchanged from the run-of-the-mill model, with all the usual Centrino Duo goods on the inside, along with a 12-inch display, a 160GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, and super-multi DVD/RW drive. Look for these exclusively at Selfridges stores in the UK, where they'll set you back a hefty £1,499 apiece (or just over $3,000).

Panasonic updates Toughbooks: W5, T5, Y5 all Vista ready

In addition to launching the new R6 today, Panasonic gave their W5, T5, and Y5 Toughbooks new silicon in preparation for the new Vista OS. First off, the W5 and T5 get their first taste of Core Duo with the 1.06GHz U2400 processor. That nudges battery life from 8 to 10.5 on the 12.1-inch W5 all the way up to 14-hours -- as claimed by Panny -- on the touch-sensitive, 12.1-inch T5. Meanwhile, the 14.1-inch Y5 steps it up to the 1.83GHz L2500 Core Duo processor with battery life now upped from 6 to 8.5-hours. All other specs and prices remain relatively unchanged. All three hit January 30th in line with the consumer release of Vista yet, for whatever reason, these slabs come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Business released back in November.

Panasonic stuffs EV-DO Rev. A into W5 and T5 Toughbooks

While not the sexiest of laptops, Panasonic's ultraportables make up for that with a lot of heart and now even beefier wireless broadband options. Yeah, 3G options were already available on the W5 and T5 lappies, but now you can outfit these teensy things with that new EV-DO Rev. A stuff all the cool kids are talking about. Sprint is on tap for the service, and boasts average download speeds up to 800kbps. Both laptops will be available next month for $2,249, with the usual 12.1-inch LCDs and extensive battery life trimmings on the combo drive equipped W5 and Tablet PC T5.
