Dave Chappelle has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Netflix over the last few years, having released four stand-up specials on the streaming service, picking up a hefty pay packet and Grammy and Emmy awards for them. The comedy icon is about to unleash his fifth set on Netflix when Sticks & Stones drops August 26th. It announced Chappelle's latest special with a Morgan Freeman-narrated trailer.
Netflix will unveil two Dave Chappelle specials on December 31st
Remember when Dave Chappelle announced he would be releasing a Netflix special on December 31st? Well, it now turns out there'll be two. Variety reports that along with the previously announced Dave Chappelle: Equanimity, the comedian will release a fourth special entitled The Bird Revelation. Like Equanimity, The Bird Revelation is also a Netflix exclusive.

Dave Chappelle's third Netflix special, Dave Chappelle: Equanimity, will debut on the streaming service December 31st, Variety reports. It's the first comedy special Chappelle has made exclusively for Netflix. Last year, the service announced that three specials from the performer were on the way and the first two -- previously unreleased material from shows performed at Austin City Limits and the Hollywood Palladium -- were released in March.
Netflix snags ‘Def Comedy Jam’ 25th anniversary special
Netflix is adding to its growing comedy slate with a 25th anniversary special honoring Def Comedy Jam. The lineup will include Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan and Katt Williams. Def Comedy Jam ran on HBO from 1992 to 1996 and a was revived for two years in 2006. An HBO reboot is also currently in the works that would rebrand the series as All Def Comedy. It's slated to premiere in November.
Two Dave Chappelle stand-up specials hit Netflix March 21st
Ever since Dave Chappelle left his show on Comedy Central in 2005 his fans have been asking for more, and on March 21st they will get it. The debut date was revealed in this brief teaser trailer, which gave just a hint of what's to come. While he's continued to perform, the comedian has been mostly absent from TV since 2005, other than hosting Saturday Night Live last year. Netflix signed up for three specials last year, while also cutting deals for comedy specials due in 2017 from Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld -- a major challenge to HBO and Showtime's dominance of comedy broadcasting.

The streaming service announced today that three selections from the popular comedian would be released together in 2017. While details are somewhat scarce for now, Netflix did reveal one of the shows will be a new stand-up special while the other two will be unreleased material from performances at Austin City Limits and the Hollywood Palladium.

When it comes to highly anticipated performances, artists are always worried that their material will end up on the Internet before the show is even over. Revered comedian Dave Chappelle is just about to embark on 13 live performances in Chicago and insists that they be phone-free. To combat any type of piracy, Chappelle has teamed up with startup Yondr. The company provides smartphone pouches that lock automatically when patrons enter the "no phone-zone," and unlock when they step out of it.
Another celebrity joins the WoW fan club
The list of famous fans is getting longer as World of Warcraft becomes more and more popular. The first famous names I remember hearing about were a whole slew of cartoonists whose work I really enjoy: Roman Dirge (Lenore), Jhonen Vasquez (JTHM), Scott Kurtz (PVP Online), Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins (Penny Arcade), and Tim Buckley (Ctrl+Alt+Del). Now, being a long-time comic book geek myself, these guys didn't really surprise me when they said that they were playing World of Warcraft. After all, video games and comics are generally thought of as sharing space in the realm of the Geek. One of the next names did take me a bit by surprise -- that was when comedian Dave Chappelle proclaimed his love for WoW. After that, it was just a mattter of time. Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) admitted that he was a total WoW fan. Then he showed in an Eastvale Logging Camp t-shirt to the Video Game Awards, and got to introduce the world premiere of the Burning Crusade trailer to the rest of the world.But this most recent name added to the ranks is a new one to me. World of Warcraft has just gained a professional football player as a fan. In a recent interview with Nick Smith, the newly recruited offensive lineman for the New York Jets, WoW came up as a topic and he talked about his time in Azeroth. Or at least, said that he had been playing WoW until Burning Crusade came out.Yeah... I stopped playing when the expansion came out because I just couldn't keep up. Last summer though, I was like that guy in the South Park episode. I could kill anyone over and over again until they quit. It was awesome. That was pretty much all I did: eat, workout and play WoW.While I'm thrilled to see someone in professional sports join the WoW gamer fold, I honestly hope that he was just joking about being like any guy in a South Park episode. Actress talks to gamer about WoW dedication
The guys at LiquidGeneration went a step beyond stalking an actress and actually scored an interview with the WoW-playing USPS ad girl.Felicia Day is best known in TV circles as the potential slayer "Vi" during the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she also found a bit of notoriety as "Angie," the USPS-usin' woman for a Postal Service ad campaign. All we're interested in, of course, is her love of Ultima VII, Link (over Mario and Undead Warlocks), and 5 man Strat runs for her Level 60 Gnome Warlock.Maybe it's not the greatest revelation since Dave Chappelle showed some knowledge of the MMO, but many male gamers still manage to find a way of expressing shock that a beautiful woman (especially one who's found a measure of success in Hollywood) enjoys an online raid or two. We're just glad that an actress is willing to be upfront about her love of games--even she sometimes uses it to avoid talking about bad auditions.[Thanks, James]

The good news: Dave Chappelle is in the iTunes Music Store. The bad news: It's not his show from Comedy Central. "I'm Rick James..." Well, you know how it goes. The Chappelle video [iTunes link] is a nearly one hour stand up special he filmed for Showtime, and costs $1.99.Wildfire [iTunes link] is an ABC Family series (I admit I've never seen it), and seasons 1 and 2 are both available.
