  • iriver gets in touch with its inner pink

We're not exactly sure what the special event is -- Breast Cancer Awareness Month isn't until October -- but we suppose you can celebrate the joy of pink whenever the mood strikes. Iriver is busting out pink versions for a bunch of its players, including the clix, MPlayer, D5 and recently-launched E100. Apparently a set of pink colored pencils is also included as a free "gift" with the purchase of any of these units, which should come in handy for that Precious Moments diptych we were thinking of doing.

  • iriver's CES teaser site fleshes out Lplayer, Spinn

Last time we were talking about these two, iriver was a bit short on images, which is pretty much criminal given the kind of design going into these PMPs. Iriver's ongoing teaser site has now been updated with a bevy of Spinn images, plus the first Lplayer shots we've seen anywhere. All we really picked up from the Spinn shots is that it'll be available in pure white or brush metal, but the Lplayer shots solved a couple mysteries. It looks like iriver is positioning the Lplayer as a sort of Clix mini, with a 2-inch display surrounded by almost zero bezel, and that same D*Click interface. Iriver looks to be further stressing the simplicity of the device with an ultra-minimal interface, but is spicing things up a little with a color selection of white, purple, brown and cyan. Check out the gallery below of all the sexiness.[Thanks, alsyl]%Gallery-13006%

  • iriver's clix+ with DMB now available

We're sorry for being selfish, but we can't hide our disappointment at this clix+ packing an upgrade for Koreans and Koreans alone. Don't get us wrong, DMB is a great upgrade that any PMP should be proud of, we just wished it did more for own portable viewing experience -- we're still stuck in that early 20th century model of downloading content and transcoding it for our later viewing enjoyment. Anyways, enough about us. The clix "plus" is just a basic 4GB or 8GB clix DAP with the addition of a DMB tuner, so not much more to see here. The 4GB goes for 218,000 won (about $235 US) while the 8GB is 278,000 won (about $300 US).

  • iriver clix 2 plus DMB equals clix+

In the natural evolution of any self-respecting, South Korean product, the iriver clix just sprouted a DMB receiver. The iriver clix plus (or clix+) is the clix 2 media player we already know and love with the welcome addition of DMB mobile digital television. Available in Korea before the new year. [Via cnet]

  • 8GB iriver clix 2 now available in US

Yeah, we know our overseas brethren have been toying with their 8GB clix 2 DAPs for awhile now, but as these things usually go, we Americans are celebrating late. Nevertheless, the US iriver store is now offering up the 8GB clix 2 for purchase, and it still touts that lovable 2.2-inch AMOLED display, an FM tuner, integrated voice recorder, up to 24-hours of battery life, and USB 2.0 connectivity. All yours for $239.99.

  • Iriver's Clix bumped to 8GB in S.Korea

While the rest of the world struggles to get by with their 2GB or 4GB gen 2 Clix, those lucky S.Koreans will see an 8GB unit drop tomorrow. No word on pricing, just the simple full-page, minimalistic tease we've grown accustomed to from iriver "announcements." Fortunately for us, this update (unlike so much of their gear) will likely make its way westward in due time.[Via Misticriver]

  • iriver and Real team up for clix Rhapsody

It always warms our hearts to see some solid device / service integration on the non-Apple side of things, and now iriver and Real are getting all cozy with the new clix Rhapsody player. Based on the gen 2 clix PMP, the player includes Rhapsody-specific functions such as album art and editorial reviews, along with features to let you to rate songs on the device and discover new music via personalized channels that get loaded each time you hook up to the service -- similar to what can be found on the Sansa Rhapsody. The player costs $190 for 4GB of storage and is available now online, but the best news is a firmware upgrade available at iriver's site that brings all these functions to your current second-gen clix for free.

  • Venzero improves upon its mini with the SLICKR

Because no one except for the biggest spendthrift wants a 2GB flash video player with a sub-two-inch screen, Venzero has revealed a pocketable new PMP called the SLICKR that basically takes its recently-announced mini and tacks on a miniSD slot along with a full inch to the now-2.8-inch screen. Other than that, this clix-like device with the MOTO naming convention offers the usual menagerie of extras -- FM tuner, voice recorder, pre-installed games -- with one important exception being the included MusicMarker functionality, which lets you handily record audio snippets from the radio for identification upon the next sync. File compatibility is slim but acceptable -- like the mini, MP3, WMA, WAV, and AVI are the only supported codecs -- and also like the mini, we've got no inkling on a price or release date here, so you'll have to stay tuned for further details. • iriver clix gen 2 unboxing and hands-on

The new iriver clix is officially out, and as usual we have a bevy of pics for ya. In case you missed the announcement back in January, the clix gen 2 is the follow-up to the original clix (AKA the iriver U10). Specs include 4GB of storage, a 2.2-inch display, built-in FM tuner, integrated digital voice recorder, up to 24 hours of battery life for music playback (5 for video), and PlaysForSure support (though thankfully you can switch the clix from MTP to USB mass storage mode if you don't want to play with DRM).

  • iriver clix 2 unboxed, headed for the States

We got a good eyeful of the iriver clix 2 at CES, but those dagnab Koreans are already doing the unboxing honors, and the little dynamo is looking just as fresh as ever. No real in-box surprises, but first impressions are looking good: that 2.2-inch AMOLED display seems to be a real charmer, and you can't go far wrong with 30fps video and software updates aplenty. You can pick up the 4GB player in Korea now for 199,000 KRW (about $212), or wait until March to see this thing in the States for some undisclosed price. An 8GB version will follow in April.[Via I4U; thanks Seweryn]

  • Halo figurines molded for WizKids' Clix wargame

Halo is now the latest brand to be miniaturized for WizKids' tabletop 'Clix' wargame system. The HeroClix maker has reached a deal with Bungie and Microsoft to design a collectable miniatures game (CMG) based on the Halo universe, dubbed Halo ActionClix. The first set will include more than 80 figurines, including representations adapted from Halo 3. Figures will be sold in randomized booster packs, while vehicles and a 'Starter Game' will be sold in diorama display format.Halo ActionClix is expected to go on sale in September. Pre-release promotional figures will be featured at San Diego Comic-Con (July 26-29), and at Gen Con Indy (August 16-19).WizKids founder Jordan Weisman and Microsoft share a history of business ventures, likely explaining how the coveted Halo license has landed in WizKids' hands. Weisman, who co-founded FASA Corporation, sold the company's video game division (FASA Interactive) to Microsoft before eventually departing FASA to form WizKids. WizKids has produced CMGs based on MechWarrior, Shadowrun, and Crimson Skies; notable because Microsoft has or will publish video games also based on these IPs. Now we add Halo to that list.[Thanks, Jonah]

  • Video: iriver's 2007 CES lineup

Last year, iriver introduced the clix, known as the U10 elsewhere. Well, the second gen model looks like it's hit the gym and slimmed down to a much more attractive exterior. Yeah, we could go on for hours about the stylish clix 2, the W10, the S10 or any of their other products they're flaunting, but instead we've got a painstakingly crafted vid for y'all's to enjoy. Of course, you could always read up on these devices, but to see us see them in person, well, that's something special.[MP4] Download the video

  • iriver and RealNetworks team up to launch two MP3 players with integrated Rhapsody

We got the skinny from the RealNetworks folks on some of their plans for continued hardware integration in pursuit of the celestial jukebox holy grail. They're going to be partnering with iriver on a couple of new audio players that will both integrate Rhapsody software -- one an update to the clix and one a Wi-Fi enabled MP3 player allowing users to both download and stream music from the Rhapsody catalogue over the air. The Wi-Fi player (pictured above) is apparently not going to be the W10, as RealNetworks sources tell us the new player is yet unnamed; it's going to come with a 3-inch touch-sensitive QVGA display with a flash-based UI, include support for VoIP and roll out in 2GB and 4GB capacities. The clix 2 (pic after the break) is going to update the clix with an improved screen and slimmer design and launch in 2GB and 4GB capacities. Both of the players will offer FM tuners, in-line and voice recording, photo and video playback, and 25+ hours of battery life. No word yet on price, but these players are expected to roll out in the US in Q1.

  • 4GB iriver clix now available

As expected, the caps-averse iriver has finally pushed its new 4GB clix portable media player out the door, with only $200 separating it from iriver and you. The specs, in case you missed them, include a 2.2-inch QVGA display, built-in FM tuner, voice recorder, a promised 25 hours of battery life, and support for MP3, WMA, ASF, and OGG music files, as well as MPEG-4 "simple profile" QVGA video -- not to mention the inclusion of a variety of Flash games. Also available are a couple of clix accessories, including a cradle (you'll need it if you want line in/out) and an FM transmitter and car charger. The accessory sure to see the most use, however, is the screen cleaner iriver's seen fit to throw in free of charge.[Thanks, Dan C.]

  • 4GB iriver clix announced for $200

Well lookie here; you could go get yourself an AIDS-fighting nano, sure, but it's still just a red nano. Or you could snag something with about as much flash memory, but a huge dose of panache. Looks like iriver's finally ready to launch their 4GB clix (or so their site would have us believe), and at the totally doable price of two hundred clams. Unfortunately, you can't actually transact the purchase just yet (we think they might have jumped the gun posting the page), but it's around the corner people, we're serious.[Thanks, sCuZz]

  • Integrated Mobile Electronics launches universal iMe Dock for your car

If you're genuinely frustrated with fuzzy (and "dangerous") FM transmitter results, and aren't exactly keen on wiring up a separate connection for each DAP you own, Integrated Mobile Electronics has your solution. In a presumed attempt to alleviate the frustration of priopritary DAP-to-automobile liaisons (and grab the entire market's attention), the startup has unveiled the iMe in-car docking station. The device, like most other hardwired options, will require a good bit of DIY handiwork (and Excedrin Migraine pills), but will apparently channel audio to your sound system and even video to your LCD-equipped whip. The package will reportedly support the Apple iPod / nano, Microsoft Zune (including the unannounced "80GB" version), Creative Zen Vision:M, SanDisk Sansa, and iRiver Clix right out-of-the-box, and even touts the ability to charge your device while docked. While it's being marketed as an end-all solution to your in-car docking station needs, these all-in-one contraptions should certainly be approached with caution -- and while there's no info on pricing or availability, you can see its potential for yourself at the SEMA expo this month.

  • iriver's black 4GB Clix ventures beyond the mythic

We're still a bit in the dark as to when exactly iriver is going to bust this thing out in retail, or for how much, but they've at least confirmed a 4GB refresh for their imminently lovable iriver Clix player, along with a stylish black version to make hanging out with those smarmy iPod kids a bit less of a struggle.[Thanks, Owen]

  • iriver's 4GB Clix caught slumin' in special black?

What's this, a press shot of the rumored 4GB "special black" Clix perhaps? Well, that's what Swedish site Min Hembio is reporting and if true, makes for a notable bump to that hotly reviewed Clix (U10). Expected in Sweden at the end of this month for 2,499 Swedish Kronas or right around 338 of that mean US green. Come on iriver, go ahead and prove us wrong. [Via dapreview]

  • iRiver Clix to reach 4GB and come in "special Black" ?

Now normally when some random Joe tosses up idle rumors or speculation about high-profile products, we would just as soon hit the delete key without a second thought. But when Sean Alexander, a group product manager at Microsoft, blogs a rumor about the iRiver Clix, we may not necessarily sit up and take notice per se -- but we'll at least glance in his general direction, given that those two companies are, like, totally BFF. Alexander writes that iRiver America is "close to announcing a special Black, 4GB version" of its portable media player. Of course, Alexander may be totally pwning us with this line, but because the Clix is already black (no idea what "special Black" means), and that a 4GB version seems within the realm of possibility, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
