Sony pulls out of PAX East over coronavirus concerns
Sony is pulling out of PAX East this year owing to coronavirus concerns. The company had planned to showcase a number of upcoming PlayStation 4 games there, including offering gamers their first chance to try a demo of The Last of Us Part II.
'Doom Eternal' is guns, gore and sophistication
The 2016 remake of Doom reinvigorated the series. It added new gameplay quirks and systems that rewarded your aggression as humanity's savior, the slayer. Depending on how you maneuvered and ended the lives of demons and other threats, you'd pick up health or ammunition. Doom (2016) made you a far more active hunter -- it was not a game where you could hide and wait out your enemies. So when it came to the sequel, Doom Eternal, the challenge was to build on this bold new play style. This has meant a lot of changes aimed at ramping up the urgency and franticness even further.
'Doom Eternal' doubles the (destructible) demons
Bethesda and id Software teased Doom Eternal at E3, but now we've got a much better look at it. id promises twice as many demons as last time, including reimagined classic enemies from Doom 2 like the Arachnotron. There are destructible demons now too, with chunks falling off as you rip and tear through them.
'Doom Eternal' is the sequel to 'Doom'
Once you're done replaying Doom on Switch, what's next? How about a proper sequel? After relaunching the series to critical acclaim (and commercial success), Doom Eternal takes the series further. Imagine a stronger protagonist, twice as many demons (apparently) and well, even more we hope. Alas, that's all we've heard for now. Take a look at the teaser below, and if you're wanting more, you'll have to wait for QuakeCon, which kicks off on August 9th.
