  • European Guitar Hero 3 release date confirmed

Those of you with your eyes out on the retailer websites will probably have known this for a little while, but Activision have finally confirmed the EU release date for Guitar Hero 3. With a release on November the 23rd, Europeans will have almost an entire month of sitting around and twiddling their thumbs while their American cousins rock out to songs like One by Metallica and Weezer's My Name is Jonas. Having said that, there's plenty to keep us busy what with the holiday season lineup. At least we're not waiting until next year like another game we won't mention. Those of you who are impatient can import the game, but we're not sure how the downloadable content will work in that case. We're currently trying to find out, so watch this space.

Merry Christmas! Well, not quite yet perhaps - but the holiday season officially begins this week with the first huge weekly game drop which should continue on through to the beginning of December. Disappointed with the PS3's current lineup? You've come to the right place - the full release list is as follows: US Games Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction The Eye of Judgment Clive Barker's Jericho Conan Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights Ratatouille EU Games Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights Clive Barker's Jericho The Eye of Judgment Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Asian Games The Eye of Judgment Imabi Kisou Pro tip time! We've received word that Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is being shipped early by the online retailer Play.com - and by "early" we mean "now". So if you can't wait until Friday (and we have a feeling a lot of you can't) then what are you waiting for? We're really happy to see Eye of Judgment being released in all three territories during the same week. The cards will be released at the same time in booster packs and preconstructed decks. All together now - "Goodbye moneys!"Don't forget your PS3 is region free for games so put you importing gloves (what do you mean you don't have a pair?) on and do your thing. We certainly have. Release dates are in a constant state of flux so check with your local store before you head out into the Real World.

Sony has surprised us. The European PSN update is already live. PS1 fans - prepare yourselves, you're in for a treat. Everyone else, well ... there's always next week. Here's the full release list: Crash Team Racing PS1 game (£3.49) Everybody's Golf 2 PS1 game (£3.49) Syphon Filter PS1 game (£3.49) Dynasty Warrior: Gundam demo (free) Uncharted "The Inspiration" trailer (free) Alien Versus Predator Blu-Ray trailer (free) We're pretty happy with this update. It's certainly a step up from a couple of months ago. We remember the days when getting a single demo was reason to celebrate. Unfortunately, it would appear the "roadmap" seems to have been false. Having said that, however, it was right on the money with regards to the PS1 games, so we're going to remain optimistic that everything on the list will be available at some point within the next few weeks. We'll keep you updated.

  • PlayStation Eye dated and priced for the UK

The PlayStation Eye is almost here. The Eye of Judgment will be available in Europe and America next week - make sure you check back later this week for our pre-release impressions - and the Eye will be available in the box. If, however, you don't fancy the potentially excellent collectible card video game then the PlayStation Eye will be available on its lonesome on November the 7th. For £24.99 you get the camera itself along with a disc containing EyeCreate (Eye of Judgment purchasers will be able to download EyeCreate for free from the PSN Store).More content for the PlayStation Eye is also being made available this month, with Operation Creature Feature, Trials of Topoq and Aqua Vita being made available sometime within the next two weeks. Add in the ability to video chat with other PS3 users, that's a ridiculously low price for an already decent amount of content.

This week's release list is US only, for some reason. With so many games being released next week, surely it makes sense to bring one or two forward and cash in on what is, frankly, a very slow week. Don't be disheartened though - keep plowing through Folklore and before you know it another five worthwhile games will have been released. Seriously - next week is insane. However, here's the full release list for this week:US Games Oblivion Game of the Year Edition Tony Hawk's Proving Ground EU Games No new releases Asian Games No new releases Confusingly, Gamestop have booster packs and preconstructed decks for Eye of Judgment listed for release on the 15th. That's a full week before the game itself comes out. We'll be keeping an eye out to see if this is truly the case. If so, you can bet we'll be stocking up so that we're truly ready for when the game comes out. Check back this time next week for a, frankly, indecent list of new releases.

  • European PSN updates for October 11th

    10.11.2007

The European PSN has been updated. There are no signs of a Ratchet and Clank demo (looks like another week of sneaking over to the US store and pinching their stuff), or anything else particularly interesting for that matter. Here's the full release list: Tiger Woods 08 demo (free) The Simpsons demo (free) Ninja Gaiden Sigma Weapon Master add-on pack (£2.99) Pixel Junk Racers trailer (free) Fallout 3 teaser trailer (free) Lair trailers (free) Pixel Junk Racers wallpaper (free) Lair wallpaper (free) Folklore wallpaper (free) Men of Honor Blu-Ray trailer Planet of the Apes Blu-Ray trailer The Ninja Gaiden Sigma add-ons keep coming this week with the Weapon Master pack. Other that there's very little else that hasn't already been available on the US store for at least a week. The Fallout 3 trailer may be the most worthwhile download here. For those of you more excited about interactive content, sit tight and wait for the US update. The Ratchet and Clank demo is on its way.

Happy Folklore week! Sure, Japan has had it for a couple of months now but since then we've been waiting patiently for the localisation process to be completed. This week our waiting pays off. But Folklore isn't the only big hitter to be released this week. Here's the full release list:US Games FIFA 08 Folklore Sega Rally Revo European Games Skate NBA 08 Folklore Asian Games NBA Live 08 Rise From Lair The Godfather: The Don's edition Not a bad haul. We're really pleased to see that Folklore is being released in the same week in Europe and America. We're also happy to see Skate finally get its PS3 release over in Europe. As for Asia, we're intrigued to see how well Lair (named Rise From Lair over there) sells, considering its critical acclaim. Don't forget, if there's a game on the list that looks interesting to you then feel free to order it, regardless of territory. Your PS3 loves games from other regions. Release dates are subject to constant change, so make sure you check with your local store before venturing out of the house.

    10.04.2007

Remember when SCEE stated that they'd be "fixing" the PSN updates in Europe? Today seems to be the first step in that direction. It's a small step, but we're getting there. Four demos is nothing to be sniffed at, especially when one of them is being released on the EU and US PSN stores simultaneously. Here's the full release list: Skate demo (Free) Bladestorm demo (Free) Stuntman: Ignition demo (Free) Clive Barker's Jericho demo (Free) Snakeball trailer (Free) GRAW 2 trailers (Free) Haze gameplay trailer (Free) Blast Factor wallpapers (Free) flOw wallaper (free) Still, when compared to the US update there's definite room for improvement. No Go! Sports Ski? Oh well, maybe next week. Until then, enjoy your demos (even if you've had most of them downloaded for a week from the US store).

Looking for a new game this week? We hope you like the NBA, because that's pretty much all that's on the menu. Three separate NBA games are being released by three different publishers this week. Here's the full release list:US Game NBA Live 08 NBA 2K8 NBA 08 European Games Madden NFL 08 According to reader tip, SingStar is also available in Sweden. Asian Games Heavenly Sword NBA 08 Pretty slow week unless you're an NBA fan. It's nice to see that Asia is getting Heavenly Sword and we hope to see some decent sales figures from that. Japan, in particular, love their stories and while the gameplay in Heavenly Sword isn't anything too special, the story is worth the purchase. Next week things start hotting up as we head into the holiday season. We hope you've been saving up - the next few months are going to be expensive.Your PS3 is region free and can play any game from any region, so if you're a European NBA fan, don't lose heart. Release dates are constantly subject to change so make sure you call your local store before leaving the house.

    09.27.2007

It's that time of week again. The European PSN Store has been updated with a reasonable amount of content this week. We're not about to start shouting Sony's praises yet, however. The US has still had a much nicer amount than us for the past few weeks. Enough moaning, here's the release list: Folklore demo (free) SEGA Rally demo (free) Motorstorm Capitano and Varjack vehicle pack (£1.49) Motorstorm Arizona and Patriot vehicle pack (£1.49) Ninja Gaiden Speed Master game pack (£2.99) Spider-Man 3 New Goblin game pack (£3.99) Warhawk wallpapers (free) Heavenly Sword wallpapers (free) Feel Ski trailer (free) inFAMOUS trailer (free) Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 trailer (free) Folklore demo? Didn't we already get that during Leipzig? Good question. The description claims that this demo is new, but we won't be able to let you know for sure until it has finished downloading. The Motorstorm and Ninja Gaiden game packs keep on coming, which is nice to see. The really weird thing about this update is the inFAMOUS trailer. The description reads "Straight out of E3 2007, watch our trailer ... ", seemingly without irony. We've had two game shows happen since E3 and no videos from Tokyo Game Show are up. Has anyone really not downloaded this from the US store yet? [Thanks Singularity and Ciaran!]

Whoosh! That's the sound of games literally flying off the production lines and onto shelves. Today's release list is possibly the best yet. Remember when we were having weeks like these? Thank goodness those are over. Here's the full release list:US Games Skate World Series of Poker 2008 EU Games Stuntman: Ignition SEGA Rally FIFA 08 Ratatouille Asian Games Warhawk The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion This week at least one high profile game being released in each territory. We're intrigued to see how Oblivion and Warhawk will do over there here in Japan. All of these games are subject to the constant change in whim of the Game Fates, so don't start moaning if any last-minute delays occur. It's not our fault. If you see something on that list that you like the look of, but it's not in your region, then don't fret. Simply import the game and play it on your region free PS3. Simple. Which titles will you be picking up?

Despite being in Tokyo this week we're still able to bring you your weekly PSN updates, even if we cannot access them ourselves. We've seen the US releases already (thanks Ciaran!) so expect an angry post about that later. Here's the full release list. Medevil PS1 game for PS3/PSP (£3.49) Syphon Filter PS1 game for PS3/PSP (£3.49) Loco Roco Cocoreccho full game (£1.99) Jericho trailer (free) Heavenly Sword trailers (free) Good? Bad? To be honest, we're too numb from lack of sleep to know right now. Games are good, right? So three games can't be bad, even if one is a rerelease of a game that was pulled off the PSN a month or two ago.

Wow, we're a day or so late with this one. Sorry about that. A couple of us are currently rushed off our feet preparing for our trip to Tokyo tomorrow. Regardless, we've managed to find the time to deliver to you the (frankly, quite underwhelming) news regarding this week's game releases. Check out the full list below.US Games Stuntman: Ignition EU Games Warhawk Asian Games Blazing Angels 2 Nothing too exciting. Never mind, eh. Thankfully weeks like this are now the exception rather than the rule. If you're a Stuntman fan, however, then rejoice! Even if you live outside of the US you can happily import and play it on your region free console. Release dates are subject to a constant flux, so be sure to check before leaving the house. It's dangerous out there.[UPDATE] Whoops! We goofed. We forgot that the Warhawk retail box is out in Europe this week. Thanks everyone for reminding us.

    09.13.2007

Today we don't have ThreeSpeech to tell us exactly what's up on the PSN store (presumably, they're as much in the dark as we are). We actually have to check the Store ourselves to see what's what. Unfortunately, we're nowhere near our PS3s to check ourselves so we're going to have to rely on you, the reader, to tell us. According to some of you, today's release list looks like this: Fifa 08 demo (free) NBA Live demo (free) Harry Potter demo (free) Motorstorm Rally Car and Bus vehicle pack (£1.49) Ninja Gaiden Weapons Master add on (£2.99) Loco Roco trailer (free) People are also telling us that the update is different for different countries (the above list has been "confirmed" for the UK), so if you've received something different then let us know. Ordinarily we'd applaud Sony Europe for finally giving us a semi-decent update but, quite frankly, we're too confused right now to do anything like that.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

This week's release list can only be described as ... heavenly. We've been waiting for a long time for this. Heavenly Sword is finally available to the masses this week and we can't wait to get our hands on it. Here's the full release list: US Games Heavenly Sword DiRT NHL 08 NHL 2K8 European Games Heavenly Sword DiRT Asian Games Megazone 23: Aoi Garland Megazone 23: Aoi Garland Limited Edition Check it out. Two potentially great games being released simultaneously throughout America and Europe. This is what we really love to see. As for Megazone 23: Aoi Garland, we've never heard of it. If you're intrigued and want to try it out then go right ahead, your PS3 will play games from any region. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so always keep that in mind.

It's that time of the week again. No real surprises here, ThreeSpeech pretty much hit the nail on the head a few days ago and called out almost exactly what was coming out on the PSN Store today. The only things they missed were the Gran Turismo 5 and Invasion trailers. Here's the full release list: Motorstorm Coyote Revenge VIP Pass (£3.99) Gran Turismo 5 Prologue trailer (Free) Lair Launch trailer (Free) Heavenly Sword Making-of episode 4 (Free) Heavenly Sword Anime episode 4 (Free) The Coyote Revenge Pass gamepack includes: Coyote Revenge - mauled into a completely new experience; more technical, new routes and more skillful rivals to battle against New Tickets - to get the most out of Coyote Revenge try to master these Revenge Weekend tickets; they cover all difficulty stages and completion will earn a nice surprise. 2 New Vehicles - a pair of special Revenge Weekend machines, chosen for your delectation. Eliminator Mode - played online yet? In this brand new online multiplayer mode being last is a REALLY bad idea; if you can't hack the pace, the consequences can be quite explosive ...

Here's the full release list for this week:US Games No new releases EU Games No new releases Asian Games Yamasa Digi World SP Pachislot Sengoku Musou Like we said; just keep on playing with Warhawk and Lair and, after this week, the big games will start to come thick and fast.

    08.31.2007

What's that? An update on a Friday? But we thought that updates only happen on Thursdays. Isn't that the reason we didn't get Warhawk on the 28th? Oh well, it's out now and theres no point moaning about the late release. Let's see what's up on the EU PSN today. DiRT demo (free) Jed Ashforth interview video (free) All the Kings Men Blu-ray trailer (free) As far as updates go, this one really takes the biscuit. We're grateful for every demo that we receive, but when America gets their best update yet and they get Warhawk two days before us ... Well, today's update feels insulting. Where, for starters, is the next Heavenly Sword anime and making-of feature? We're so unimpressed. Sort it out, SCEE.[Image source]

  • Warhawk available for download in Europe

    by
    Jem Alexander
    Jem Alexander
    08.30.2007

Warhawk is now available to download on the European PSN Store and has been for a few hours. The price is £19.99 and the size of the file is 798 megabytes in size; that's smaller than some demos that are currently available. At the moment Warhawk is the only new addition to the European store, though we're expecting the normal late-afternoon update to happen as well. Though this goes against SCEE's reasoning for not releasing it on the 28th, as it was in America. No matter, it's out now. So stop reading this and get downloading! We'll have a full PSN update post for you later in the day -- if it happens.

Games! Yes, seriously. Check out the full release list, just a matter of millimeters below where you're looking right now.US Games Warhawk Lair Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 Dynasty Warriors: Gundam EU Games No new releases Asian Games Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War Mist of Chaos Warhawk and Lair? In the same week? Potentially. A lot of websites are showing the US release date has been pushed forward to the 30th of this month. It could easily be the case that whatever problems they had with the game that originally had it pushed back could have been solved early. In any case, we'll find out within a few days.European PS3 owners, worry not. As games are region free, you can import any of the games in the above list without fear. Your PS3 will gobble it up without caring where it's from. Also, don't forget the PSN version of Warhawk will be out this Thursday, with the retail box appearing on shelves in a few weeks. Remember, release dates are constantly subject to change. Constantly.
