  • Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of January 6th

While this week is better in terms of releases than last week, there's nothing special here. Japan has a good month ahead of them with games such as Disgaea: Hour of Darkness 3 and Devil May Cry 4 both arriving before February hits. As for the rest of the world? It's slim pickings until the 22nd, when Burnout Paradise is released. Here's the full release list:US Games NFL Tour EU GamesNo new releasesAsian Games Armored Core 4 (The Best Collection) Don't forget that your PS3 is region free, so if you're an NFL fan trapped in Europe or if you're an American who really fancies another copy of Armored Core 4, then you're in luck. Feel free to buy the above games and play them on a console of any region to your heart's content. Release dates are, however, subject to constant flux so be sure to confirm with whatever outlet you plan on using that the games are really being released.

  • European PSN updates for January 3rd - "Surely not?" edition

Surely not, Sony. Surely this can't be the first PSN update of the new year. Surely the bonus Christmas update that Europeans saw last week, which our American cousins were seen lacking, cannot be better than today's. We could be jumping the gun here - there could be more content coming, but we doubt it. The store has been updated with the items listed (if you can call it a list) below. Folklore "Fear in the Night" add-on pack (£1.49) Devil May Cry 4 final trailer (free) We'll be keeping an eye on the store in case something went wrong and it was updated prematurely, but we're not holding our breath. Oh, and don't call me Shirley.

Uh oh. We're having flashbacks to the summer. There are no new game releases this week - and don't expect that to change for a little while either. This isn't a bad thing, however. Take this as an opportunity to finish all of the amazing games that came out over the last few months. Or why not go meet your friends down the pub? There's no American PSN update for today, unfortunately, so we'll have to rely on Sony Europe to deliver some nice Christmas goodies for us; which they have. Not a lot, by any means, but we certainly used to dream of the days when we'd get three demos a week. Here's the full release list: Super Stardust HD demo "and upgrade" (free) The Club demo (free) Snakeball demo (free) - now on the UK store Like we said, there's not a lot but it's better than nothing, right? We're very glad to finally see a demo for Super Stardust HD - now people can try the game out before they buy it. If you already have the game installed, then it will simply upgrade your version to the new rumble enabled, custom-soundtrack touting version. The Snakeball demo was missing from the UK store (as well as other EU stores) last week but has now made an appearance. The full game is available via the in-game store, so you could technically count it as a full game release. Not a bad week when you consider that everyone's off for Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Well, almost. Not long to go now and this update will be the last one before the big day, so Sony has seen fit to give us a nice selection of Christmas gifts to choose from. While the big addition here, Toy Home, isn't free it's with us a long time before we expected to see it. Europe hasn't even received a demo of the game yet, unlike America. Here's the full release list: Toy Home full game (£4.99) Warhawk "Operation Omega Dawn" expansion (£3.99) Populous: The Beginning PS1 game (£3.49) Timeshift multiplayer demo (free) Sky Diving trailer (free) Guitar Hero III "Boss Battles" add-on pack (free) Motorstorm "Holiday Paint Job" add-on pack (free) Devil May Cry 4 Tokyo Game Show trailer (free) Sega Rally "Canyon" trailer (free) Sega Rally "Arctic" trailer (free) Kane & Lynch "Insider" videos (free) Kane & Lynch "Fragile Alliance & Co-op" video (free) Kane & Lynch TV Advert (free) Kane & Lynch "Fragile Alliance" trailer (free) Metal Gear Solid 4 Tokyo Game Show trailer (free) Assassin's Creed TV Advert (free) Grand Theft Auto IV trailer (free) CJ7 movie trailer (free) Clearly Eidos is desperate to remind us PS3 owners that their game exists. What a shame last week's demo was so utterly atrocious. Neversoft and Evolution Studios both offer us Christmas gifts in the form of downloadable add-ons (even though this Guitar Hero III pack is incredibly late) and as for Populous ... Well, we didn't see that one coming. We're pretty happy about it though!

This is it, folks. End of the line. The last set of releases before 2008. Japan is doing surprisingly well out of this week, not to mention the fact that they're finally getting Call of Duty 4 next week too. As for American and Europe, you'd better not be expecting anything new for the next week or two because there's simply nothing else to be released. Here's the full release list:US Game MX vs ATV: Untamed EU Games PlayStation Eye & EyeCreate Asian Games FIFA 08: World Class Soccer Medal of Honor: Airborne Time Crisis 4 Keep in mind that your PS3 is region free, so you're able to import any of the above titles if you wish to do so. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so call ahead before you leave the house. It's scary out there.

It's catch up week. Two games that have been out for the 360 for yonks but kept getting pushed back finally see the light of day this week. Not only that, but the "will it, won't it" struggle of Epic's Unreal Tournament III will finally be resolved with a positive outcome as the game makes it out before Christmas. Barely. Here's the full release list:US Games Unreal Tournament III Blacksite: Area 51 The Orange Box EU Games The Orange Box Oblivion: Game of the Year edition Asian Games Gran Turismo 5: Prologue Not bad at all, considering 98% of the year's big releases are out already. This should be the last week with any games of note being stuck on shelves - which is fine by us. We're ready to sit back and finally get through all of the year's great releases. Don't forget your PS3 is region free, so go ahead and import any of the above games. Release dates are subject to the whim of the fates, so be sure to check with your local retailer just in case.

We hope you like themes, because there's not a lot else available today, apart from a couple of add ons and a demo. In fact, today's update is even lacking trailers - not to mention a huge hole where the Guitar Hero 3 downloadable content should be. Here's the full release list: Kane & Lynch demo (free) Motorstorm "Domino & Adventure" vehicle pack (£1.49) Folklore "The Origin of Belae" add-on pack (£1.49) Blazing Angels 2 Multiplayer trailer (free) Mesmerize theme (free) Tori Emaki theme (free) Heavenly Sword theme (free) Snakeball theme (free) Lemmings theme (free) Killzone 2 theme (free) Singstar theme (free) Themes are all well and good, but where are the downloadable titles Europe has been promised for ages now? Puzzle Fighter, Everyday Shooter - even Blast Factor: Advanced Research hasn't been made available to us yet. As for the Guitar Hero 3 downloadable content, the least said about that, the better. You were doing so well SCEE. What went wrong?

It may be another lackluster week of releases for America, but elsewhere in the world people are rejoicing. Uncharted is being released worldwide and, finally, Singstar is seeing the light of day. Here's the full release list:US Games The Golden Compass EU Games Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Singstar Medal of Honour: Airborne World Series of Poker: Battle for the Bracelets Asian Games Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Conan We're fairly certain Uncharted will sell well in Europe, but we're intrigued to see how it will do in Asia. As for Singstar, this will be the first title to appeal to casual gamers for the system and, with enough marketing, could do very well for Sony. Feel free to import any of the games from other regions. With regards to importing Singstar, we're not certain whether you will be able to buy content from the store. However, with the online shop being incorporated into the game, there's a chance that it could work. Potentially. We'll let you know. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to check your local store before leaving the house.

Happy Thursday! That's right, it's that time of week again. Time to check out the latest offerings on the EU PSN Store. Here's the full release list: Destruction Derby PS1 game (£3.49) Kula World PS1 game (£3.49) Timeshift demo (free) Motorstorm "Crazy Samurai and Quick Foot" add-on pack (£1.99) Resistance: Fall of Man "Bracknell/Axbridge" map pack (£2.99) Sonic The Hedgehog add-on packs (six in total; £1.99 each) Uncharted "Making the Game" video (free) Blazing Angels 2 "Racing" trailer (free) PAIN trailer (free) WWE 2008 trailer (free) Assassin's Creed "Altair was here" trailer (free) Bee Movie movie trailer (free) PS3 "Blu-Ray" advert (free) PS3 "Gaming" advert (free) PS3 "Evolving Entertainment" advert (free) PS3 "Faster Processing" advert (free) PS3 adverts "Making of" documentary (free) Quite a mixed bag this week. The one tragic omission is the lack of any Guitar Hero 3 downloadable content. Seriously - where is it? The game has been out almost a week now and 360 owners already have it. If there's one thing that can make us feel better about the lack of Foo Fighter tracks to rock out to, however, it's Kula World. It's downloading as we type this and we cannot wait to get it installed for some retro style ball rolling action. That and the new Resistance maps, of course. They're not to be sniffed at.

After the crazy spend-a-thon that was last week's release list, we can all finally give our wallets a little rest. Though those of us in Europe may need to keep it on standby for the near future as both Uncharted and Singstar will be released in just under two weeks. Here's the full release for this week:US GamesNo new releasesEU Games Blazing Angels 2 Stranglehold The Golden Compass Cars: Mater-National Asian Games Tony Hawk's Project 8 Slim pickings indeed! There's no reason to moan, however, as we've just had a couple weeks worth of top-notch games hitting our shelves. There's little more to come this year, with the exception of Unreal Tournament 3 which should be available in the US in mid-December.Don't forget your PS3 is region free for all games listed above, so feel free to import to your heart's content. Release dates are subject to constant change so be sure to check your local store before leaving the house. Disclaimer over.

Welcome to the week of November 18th - quite possibly the best week for new releases since the PS3's launch. How appropriate, then, that it occurs a full year after the console was unleashed onto America. If nothing on the following list takes your fancy then there's a high chance that you might be dead inside. You should probably get that seen to. Here's the full release list:US Games Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Rock Band Time Crisis 4 (with Guncon) College Hoops 2K8 Medal of Honor: Airborne Soldier of Fortune: Payback Timeshift EU Games Need for Speed Prostreet Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Kane & Lynch: Dead Men NBA 2K8 Beowulf Asian Games Time Crisis 4 (with Guncon) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Ratatouille Winning Eleven 2008 Of all of the great things to come out of the following week, our favourite has to be finding out the Japanese name for Ratatouille. Remy no Oishii Restaurant (Remy's Tasty Restaurant) almost makes us want to import the game for the name alone. That probably won't happen, however, what with the ridiculous amounts of money we're already going to be spending over the next seven days thanks in no small part to Rock Band.Don't forget that your PS3 is completely region free with regards to the above games, so feel free to import to your heart's content. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to check with your local retailer before leaving the house.

    11.15.2007

ThreeSpeech have again revealed what will be gracing the European PSN Store later today when the update finally goes live. Despite the last few weeks of great updates, this one seems a little lackluster. Here's the full release list: Mesmerize: Trace PlayStation Eye game (£1.99) Motorstorm "Big I Bunny and Numskull" add-on pack (£1.49) Stranglehold demo (free) Uncharted "A Living Environment" behind the scenes video (free) Everyday Shooter trailer (free) Blazing Angels 2 trailer (free) PS3 TV advert (free) Wall-E movie trailer (free) See? Nothing too special. About the only thing worth a download for non-Motorstorm fanatics is the Uncharted behind the scenes video. The previous ones have all been excellent and well worth a watch. Shame we've all already played the Stranglehold demo when it came out two months ago. We'll update this post when the Store finally gets the content drop to let you know it's up.[UPDATE] The content listed above is now available.

Slim pickings for PAL territories and Asia this week, but at least those games that are released are excellent additions to the PS3 software library. It will be intriguing to see how the Japanese sales of Heavenly Sword will be, especially since the 40GB PS3 came out today. Here's the full release list:US Games Assassin's Creed Kane and Lynch: Dead Men Need For Speed: ProStreet WWE Smackdown vs RAW Beowulf: The Game EU Games Assassin's Creed Asian Games Heavenly Sword Like we said - not much going on in Europe, but that's possibly a good thing. With Assassin's Creed being the must-have title that it is, other games might not get a look in and you have to wonder how this will affect sales of Kane and Lynch in the US. Regardless of sales talk, however, this is a great week for everyone.Don't forget that the PS3 is a region free device, so feel free to import any of the games above from abroad. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so make sure you check with your local retailer before wasting a trip down to the shops.

    11.08.2007

Wow. How about that - it's past midnight in the UK and there's been no European releases post. Well it's not exclusively our fault - while the Uncharted demo may have kept us busy for the past hour or so, the fact that the PSN Store was inaccessible also contributed. It's taken us until now to get the exact information for today's PSN update, but we finally have. Here's the complete release list: Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online (£14.99) Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online Upgrade (£3.49) Cool Boarders PS1 game (£3.49) NFS: PROSTREET demo (free) Folklore "Bottom of the sea" pack (£1.49) Motorstorm "Devil's Weekend" pack (£3.99) Uncharted "Animation Overview" trailer (free) PSP Shapes Your World trailer (free) Not a bad wee update. Certainly nothing as impressive as the previous couple of weeks, but Tekken 5 fans will certainly be happy. Cool Boarders is a nice wee extra along with the add-on packs for Folklore and Motorstorm. Be sure to check out the "PSP Shapes your World" trailer - it may look like an IKEA advert to begin with, but give it a chance. For those of you upset about the Uncharted demo debacle, take solace in the knowledge that we will be receiving it within the next few weeks. Until then, we have actual games to be getting along with - Call of Duty 4 and Ratchet and Clank both get released tomorrow. Er, make that today.

    11.04.2007

Remember, remember the fifth of November - gunpowder, treason and ... games? Was that corny? Yes, it was - but you try coming up with these intro paragraphs every week. This week the holiday games lineup continues to continue with some more heavy hitters, including Call of Duty 4 and the European release of Ratchet and Clank. Here's the full release list:US Games Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII EU Games WWE Smackdown! vs RAW 2008 Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (Review) Lair (Review) The Simpsons Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga Asian Games NBA Live 08 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 So when the fireworks finally end (in a couple of weeks - we all know how long "November 5th" seems to last these days), chances are you'll still be too busy playing any of this week's excellent offerings. Don't get complacent or over-spendy yet, however. There's more great releases to come in the coming weeks. Honestly, we're spoilt nowadays. A new feature we're introducing, starting this week, is that we'll be linking to any reviews of newly released games that we've already posted. Hopefully this will help you answer your internal "to buy, or not to buy" quandries. All PS3 games are region free, so feel free to import. Release dates are hard to pin down, so be sure to contact your local retailer to make sure your game of choice is available before leaving the house.

    11.01.2007

No sooner do we receive word of all the things we can come to expect from the EU PSN Store over the next few months than a large selection of them is released to us. Not only that, but the latest update includes a couple of demos that were not even forecast. Here's the full release list: Tori Emaki PlayStation Eye game (£1.99) Mesmerize PlayStation Eye game (£1.99) Feel Ski game (£4.99) Juiced 2: HIN demo (free) Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 demo (free) Motorstorm Revenge Weekend trailer (free) PlayStation Eye trailer (free) Lair "Call of the Beast" trailer (free) Uncharted "Introducing Naughty Dog" trailer (free) Uncharted "The Characters and Music" trailer (free) Uncharted wallpaper (free) Eye of Judgment "How to Play" trailer (free) Alien Vs Predator Requiem movie trailer (free) Hitman movie trailer (free) Clearly the Threespeech list is only comprised of Sony-published content, which means we can expect more demos than just the Uncharted one that will be arriving within the next few weeks. You've all been clamouring for a demo of Pro Evo Soccer for weeks now (yes - we heard you) and Sony has finally delivered. Is it too late? Let us know, but don't expect us to care right away - we've got some new PlayStation Eye games to play.

While today's EU PSN update is still very much in the dark, Threespeech have posted a long list of expected releases for the rest of the year. If you've been disappointed by the PSN before, hopefully this is the time for your faith in the service to be restored. The list for December is labeled as a list of "highlight" - presumably meaning there's more to come. As if the imminent release of several games on our retail shelves wasn't enough, today's PSN update is one of the biggest we've ever had. The playable content weighs in at four games and two demos and comes with a healthy portion of trailers and game add ons. Here's the full release list: Pixel Junk Racers full game (£4.99) Aqua Vita PlayStation Eye game (£1.99) Operation Creature Feature PlayStation Eye game (£3.49) Trials of Topoq PlayStation Eye game (£3.49) Eye Create PlayStation Eye application (free) Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds demo (free) Ratchet and Clank demo (free) "The Kidnapped Folk" Folklore add-on (£1.49) Motorstorm "Halloween Livery" add-on (free) Ninja Gaiden Sigma "Rachel Master" add-on (£2.99) Tekken 5: DR Online mode trailer (free) Eye of Judgment Introduction trailer (free) Toy Home trailer (free) Midnight Club LA trailer (free) Metal Gear Online TGS trailer (free) Courage Under Fire Blu-Ray trailer (free) Beowulf movie trailer (free) Stardust movie trailer (free) Not bad, eh? Not bad at all. Good luck getting onto the store, however. At the time of writing we're currently timing out on every connection attempt. Once we finally get on we're excited to try out the first Folklore downloadable content and, come tomorrow, the new PlayStation Eye titles. [Thanks Ciaran!]

    10.24.2007

We all know that the next couple of months include some major game releases but, for those of us in Europe, we're not entirely sure when exactly the big titles are coming. ThreeSpeech to the rescue! They have revealed all the confirmed release dates for the big Sony first party titles between now and the end of the year. Thankfully no games have been delayed into 2008, with most titles having gone gold already. Even Singstar gets a mention, along with confirmation that it will be out this year. Here's the full list: The Eye of Judgment - October 26th Lair - November 9th Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - November 9th Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - December 7th Singstar - December ??th We know what gamers are like though - they always want more. If this list doesn't seem long enough to you then don't forget about all the third party titles that are out soon. With games like Guitar Hero III, Assassin's Creed, Haze and Call of Duty 4 along with the above list we're in for a busy Christmas.
