  • European PSN updates for March 6th

After last week's awful PSN update we were really hoping Sony would deliver us some decent content this time around. Have they? That's up to you to decide. Between the long-awaited release of the flOw expansion pack, a new set of Guitar Hero III tracks and the gorgeous WipEout HD trailer, there's some not bad stuff to choose from. Here's the full release list: flOw expansion pack (£1.99/€2.99) Guitar Hero III "No Doubt" track pack (£3.99/€5.99) Oblivion: Shivering Isles trailer (free) WipEout HD trailer (free) Uncharted "DJ Shadow" trailer (free) Graffiti theme (free) The Pursuit of Happyness Blu-Ray trailer (free) Reign Over Me Blu-Ray trailer (free) Perfect Stranger Blu-Ray trailer (free) With the promise of PAIN being released this month and a PSN Store redesign coming in early April, we're hoping to see things looking up for the European PSN Store soon. This is a great improvement over last week, it has to be said - even if the Guitar Hero 3 content is a bit overpriced.[Thanks Simon]

  • Pain due out in Europe this month; Elefunk in April; Echochrome follows in May

Geekpulp, a New Zealand based site, has received a list of upcoming first-party downloads that will be up on the PlayStation Store within the next few months. These are PAL releases, so it's easy to assume that the same content will be reaching Europeans around the same time. With only three items on the list, however, we're hoping this isn't exhaustive. There will obviously be third party stuff coming too, but with Sony holding games like High Velocity Bowling and Dark Mist hostage, we were hoping to see them at some point soon. The press release says that Pain will be out at some point this month, along with a few extra buyable characters on day one. With ten extra characters finished and ready to go, both Europe (that seems to include all PAL territories) and America should be seeing more characters becoming available regularly. That's all very well and good, but where are the new levels? One really isn't enough, no matter how many characters you can toss around in it.Elefunk (a game we sadly haven't heard about in quite a while) will be available in April and the PS3 release of Echochrome will come in May. So, now you know how the next few months according to Sony and its first-party titles, what do you think?[Via N4G]

  • Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of March 2nd

Another pretty decent week of releases across the board. Europe is still catching up with the US with games like Blacksite: Area 51 and Solider of Fortune: Payback while Japan finally gets its hands on Guitar Hero III. A few completely-new games pepper this week's releases, too. We've added a link to any reviews we've done of this week's upcoming games. Here's the full release list:US Games Major League Baseball 2K8 Army of Two MLB 08: The Show EU Games Army of Two MX vs ATV: Untamed Dynasty Warriors 6 (Review) Blacksite Area 51 Soldier of Fortune: Payback (Review) Battle for the Pacific (History Channel) Asian Games Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan (Yakuza 3) It's nice to see Army of Two clamber out from its hiding place. It was originally penned for a late 2007 release, but after EA saw how many games were coming out around that period they pulled it back. Probably a good decision, really, considering how it now has March pretty much to itself - especially in America. Yakuza 3 promises to be a big hit in Japan, especially with the Yakuza 3 PS3 bundle going on sale. We should see a slight upturn in PS3 sales.Don't forget your PS3 is region free, so feel free to buy yourself any of the games you see in the list above. Release dates are subject to constant flux (which is why you see Blacksite: Area 51 up there, even though we said it would be out last week), so be sure to call ahead before you leave the house. Fresh air is bad for you.

If you thought last week's PSN update was bad, then be prepared to be really disappointed. The European PSN Store has been updated already (as seems to be the norm, nowadays) with just two trailers. Yep, that's it. We suspect you, the commenters, are going to have a field day with this one. Here's the "full release list": Conflict: Denied Ops "Dev Diary 4" trailer (free) Haze "Boss Speech" trailer (free) This is an even worse update than the "Surely Not" releases at the start of January. Honestly, Sony, what about all the games that have been out in America for months but have yet to make it over here. Hopefully, if the Store redesign rumor comes true then the people behind the European Store updates will take their job a bit more seriously. Two trailers? Really?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Not a bad release list for February. PS3 owners the world over finally get to see what all the fuss is about with Capcom's Lost Planet (spoiler: not a lot) and the Lost game also hits shelves. Having seen very little of the title, we're intrigued to see what it's like. Cautiously intrigued, but intrigued nonetheless. Here's the full release list:US Games Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Lost: Via Domus Turning Point: Fall of Liberty EU Games Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Lost: Via Domus Blacksite: Area 51 Asian Games Lost: Via Domus Europe keeps attempting to play catch-up this week with Blacksite: Area 51, another UE3 game that America received during the gameflood of last year. Release dates are constantly subject to change, so be sure to confirm them before making any rash decisions. Like stepping out the front door. Your PS3 is region free, don't forget, so don't be afraid to import any of the above titles. Though if we spot you importing Lost from any other country then we'll be forced to give you a clip around the ear for being so stupid. You have been warned.

Small update today, but not necessarily a bad one if you're a fan of WipEout Pulse. The third add-on pack for the game is now available. When will these packs stop coming? Good question. Next week is the final update. Here's the full release list: WipEout Pulse "Harimau" add-on pack (£2.99/€3.99) Worms Open Warfare 2 theme pack (free) This week's add-on pack adds another ship to your repertoire as well as two new tracks. Not bad for three quid. We're sad to see that there are no PS1 games or demos this week. Maybe something interesting will hit the American store later today. We'll keep you informed.

Rut roh. Don't look now, but today's update is really rather bad. It's been a while since we've come out and said that a PSN update has been dire, because the quality has improved drastically over the last six months. Still, unless you're a fan of developer diaries, or demos that have been on the US Store for two weeks, then there's not a lot here for you. Here's the full release list: Lost Planet online demo (free) Conflict: Denied Ops launch trailer (free) Conflict: Denied Ops Dev Diary 3 video (free) Assassin's Creed Dev Diary trailer: Altair (free) 7 Devil May Cry 4 wallpapers (free) Sports theme (free) It seems that SCEE have put Snakeball back on the front page, even though it came out in December. Our guess is it's their attempt to pad out today's update, but it hasn't really worked. Oh well, the long wait until next Thursday starts now.

Sports fans rejoice! No matter where you live this week you'll be able to get your hands on FIFA Street 3 for the PS3. Is it any good? Find out in our review later this week. Here's the full release list:US Games FIFA Street 3 Dynasty Warriors 6 The Club EU Games Unreal Tournament III FIFA Street 3 Asian Games FIFA Street 3 Burnout Paradise Lost Planet: Extreme Condition It's nice to see Unreal Tournament III finally make it out in Europe. The delay hasn't been a completely bad thing, however, considering there is now plenty of mod content to download on day one. We'll have a list of "must-get" mods for the game heading your way before too long. Keep checking back.Japan's releases are really picking up this year, what with them getting Capcom games a week before the Western world. Not only that, but next week sees the release of Eternal Sonata in the land of the rising sun, too. Let's not beat around the bush, here - we're desperate to play that game. Bring it Westwards as soon as possible, Namco!

Today's update to the PC store is probably the best since its launch. With two demos and an add-on pack, the PSP is finally getting some decent downloadable content. Here's the full release list: WipEout Pulse "Icaras" add-on pack (£2.99/€3.99) Fireteam Bravo 2 demo (free) Patapon demo (free) FFVII Crisis Core trailer (free) Spiderwick movie trailer (free) Looks like that February 21st prediction turned out to be wrong, as the Patapon demo has arrived in Europe a full week early - the same day as it is due to become available in the US. We love when that happens. As for the WipEout Pulse DLC, this is the second pack in as many weeks, as promised. Too bad there's only two more weeks of content left.

It's the day you've all been waiting for (unless, of course, you're waiting around for Pain). Everyday Shooter is finally available in Europe - and it only took five months! Good going SCEE! There's also a demo and some DLC for GHIII. Here's the full release list: Riff: Everyday Shooter full game (£4.99/€7.99) Guitar Hero III "Classic Rock Track Pack" add-on (£3.99/€5.99) Everybody's Golf 5 demo (free) Conflict: Denied Ops teaser trailer (free) Conflict: Denied Ops "Developer Diary 1" (free) Conflict: Denied Ops "Developer Diary 2" (free) Resident Evil 5 wallpaper (free) Super Stardust HD theme (free) Spiderwick movie trailer (free) No PS1 games? Maybe we're being spoilt ... We're just so happy to finally see Everyday Shooter available in Europe. If you want to know what we thought of the game, check out our review and, if you want to see more screenshots, have a look at the gallery below. It's very pretty.%Gallery-4926%

Another lackluster week of releases - though after last week's bumper collection of games we're sure you'll be kept busy until the next big game release. Whenever that may be. Here is the full release list:US Games Conflict: Denied Ops EU Games NBA 08 Asian Games WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 WWE Smackdown vs Raw in Japan? Really? Yeah, that'll definitely make the Japanese top ten. Just you wait and see. Don't forget all these games are region free, so feel free to import if you like. Blimey Sony, give us time to get out of bed before updating the store, won'tcha? Today's early store update is not bad at all. A short list, yes, but there's no filler content here. Here's the full release list: Sky Diving full game (£3.49/€4.99) Turok demo (free) Conflict: Denied Ops demo (free) Motorstorm "Chinese New Year gift" add-on (free) Folklore "Mailion" add-on (free) Lost Planet trailer (free) If you fancy the look of Lost Planet, don't forget that there's a demo available on the Japanese PSN Store. As for Sky Diving, we'll probably have a review up of the game before too long. We're not expecting much, but you never know. Enjoy your free game add-ons - the Folklore "Malion" pack contains the winner of the European "Design a Folk" competition, which was won by Jeff Read from the UK.

Things are starting to look up for the universe now that we've got January out of the way. Devil May Cry 4 makes it's English-speaking debut this week in both the US and Europe. European gamers also have a few other games to pick from this week, including the potentially alright The Club. Here's the full release list:US Games Devil May Cry 4 (Get a $10 gift card at Circuit City) Devil May Cry Collector's Edition Turok (Get a $10 gift card at Circuit City) EU Games NFL Tour Turok The Club Devil May Cry 4 Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition Conflict: Denied Ops Asian Games Transformers: The Game If you're not sure yet about whether to pick up Devil May Cry 4, then fear not. We'll have a review for you within the next few days tomorrow, along with an interesting feature for those of you new to the entire franchise. Feel free to import any of the above games for whatever reason. Your PS3 is completely region free. Release dates are subject to constant change, so check with your local retailer before leaving the house. Or just order online. It requires less effort.

The Devil May Cry 4 demo finally makes its way to the European store this week, though we're sure most of you have already nabbed it from your US accounts. Those of you hoping to see Everyday Shooter or Dark Mist (or High Velocity Bowling or even Blast Factor: Advanced Research) will be disappointed today, but if you're a retrophile then there may be something in today's offering that will act as compensation. Here's the full release list: Devil May Cry 4 demo (free) MX Vs ATV Untamed demo (free) Fade to Black PS1 game (£3.49/€4.99) Motorhead PS1 game (£3.49/€4.99) Theme Hospital PS1 game (£3.49/€4.99) PixelJunk Monsters trailer (free) It's great to see so many PS1 games being released recently - even if the quality is a bit hit and miss. Theme Hospital more than makes up for that, though. Hopefully next week we will finally get our hands on one of the many PSN games that the US has been hoarding for months now. [Thanks Simon!]

Rejoice, for January is almost over. That means we're halfway through the most tedious 1/6th of the year (not just in terms of games - we just hate Jan and Feb). Game releases are starting to pick up as we get further into the year and, while the Western world hasn't got anything to get excited about this week, this could be the best Japanese release week in quite some time. Possibly ever. Here's the full release list:US Games Turok EU Games Conflict: Denied Ops Asian Games Disgaea 3: Hour of Darkness Assassin's Creed Devil May Cry 4 Need for Speed: ProStreet Sega Rally Revo Conflict: Denied Ops? Don't worry, we've never heard of it either. It's by Eidos so we'd advise being cautious about buying it. Who knows, though - it could be good? We're looking forward to seeing an upturn in PS3 sales this week in Japan, what with the release of two well loved Japanese franchises. Not to mention Assassin's Creed finally being released on PS3 over there. Unfortunately us Westerners have another week to wait before we can get our hands on Devil May Cry 4. Not long now, though. Not long now ...If you're really impatient, however, you can go ahead and import any of the above games. Your PS3 won't mind - in fact, it loves it. Release dates are constantly subject to change (which is our way of saying "don't blame us if we're wrong!")

Here we were, resting on our virtual laurels, when SCEE goes and surprises us with an early PSN update. Not an awful one either. We're sad that the DMC4 demo is missing, but also pleased that Europe has received PixelJunk Monsters, technically, before America. What a strange mixture of feelings. Here's the full release list: PixelJunk Monsters full game (£3.49/???4.99) Judge Dredd PS1 game (£3.49/???4.99) CIV Revolution trailer (free) Call of Duty 4 PS3 theme (free) 5 Call of Duty 4 wallpapers (free) As we continue to say, it's always nice to see PS1 games being released, but is Judge Dredd really a PS1 classic? With Vib Ribbon and Klonoa hopefully on the way soon, things seemed to be looking up for the quality of PS1 games. But Judge Dredd? We'll reserve judgment until we try it.

So 2008 does have games. Judging from the first few weeks of January, we were beginning to think that maybe the PS3's lineup had ground to a halt after all the excellent titles that landed at the end of last year. We're kidding, of course. The PS3 has an awesome 2008 lineup with, we're sure, plenty more game announcements to come. In the meantime, here's this weeks release list: US Games Burnout Paradise EU Games Burnout Paradise Asian Games Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights Lucky ol' Burnout Paradise. It practically has the entire month of January to itself, so we'll be very surprised if the game doesn't sell tremendously. Not to mention it's available in American and Europe during the same week. We love when that happens. Don't forget your PS3 is region free so, if you're feeling a bit funny in the head, you could always order Burnout Paradise from a different region. Or you could nab yourself a Japanese copy of Juiced 2 and enjoy some "Hot Import Nights" of your own.

No PS1 games today, but there a couple of demos to enjoy, instead. These should keep you busy, but only if you're interested in sports. Basketball and football, to be precise. If you're not into sports then you might be interested by the add-on packs for Guitar Hero III and Folklore. Here's the full release list: NBA 08 demo (free) FIFA Street demo (free) Guitar Hero III "Warner track pack" (£3.99/€5.99) Die Fantastischen Vier's "Ernten Was Wir Saen" (£1.49/€1.99) Extremoduro's "So Payaso" (£1.49/€1.99) Trust's "Antisocial" (£1.49/€1.99) Folklore "Visions of the Tower" add-on pack (£1.49/€1.99) Gran Turismo 5 Prologue trailer (free) Borderlands "debut" trailer (free) Brothers in Arms trailer (free) Cloverfield movie trailer (free) Guitar Hero III DLC? We're over it. Too little, too late. Not to mention the pricing. £1.49 per song is a bit steep, don't you think? We're far more likely to buy the Folklore add-on at that price. In fact ... there. We just did. Also: you want Euros? You get Euros. Sorry it took us this long, but all PSN updates for Europe will now contain the prices in Sterling and Euros, making these updates truly European.

After the PSN update that never was last week, you'd be justified in feeling like Sony owes you something special for this week's update. If you happen to like PS1 games or add-ons, then you're in luck. If not, maybe Sony will pay you back next week. Here's the full release list: N20 PS1 game (£3.49) Hardcore 4X4 PS1 game (£3.49) Motorstorm "Double Track Pack" add-on (£3.49) Folklore "Pigly Pack" add-on (free) Devil May Cry 4 "TGS 2007 Trailer 2" (free) PixelJunk Monsters trailer (free) Bionic Commando trailer (free) Devil May Cry 4 wallpapers (free) It's always nice to see PS1 games that we weren't expecting. This "Pigly Pack" for Folklore is unlike the normal quest packs - there are no quests or costumes included, just a new folk to collect. As a result this piece of DLC is completely free of charge, which suits us fine. So, commenters, does this satisfy?
