The last full week of 2013 is mostly filled with college football bowl games and holiday specials, but the streaming services have some treats. Netflix will premiere the first five episodes of Turbo F.A.S.T. this week, while Amazon continues its original series Betas and Alpha House. HBO's Treme wraps up its run Sunday night with a 75-minute finale, but Doctor Who fans can unwrap two specials from BBC America on Christmas Day including The Time of the Doctor and a goodbye to Matt Smith. For gamers, this week's highlight is a port, as Halo: Spartan Assault arrives for the Xbox One (the Xbox 360 version is due in January). Check after the break for our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and gaming.

Time is running out on 2013, and as the year comes to a close most of the high-profile TV shows are taking off on their winter break. This week we're looking forward to individual releases of the classic Indiana Jones movies -- due for a return to the big screen in a few years now that Disney/Lucasfilm has the rights -- while another 80s favorite, Predator, returns in 3D-converted form. The process worked out pretty well for Top Gun 3D, but we're thinking jungle foliage and camouflaged aliens may be a little tougher to deal with. Football fans have a slew of lower-tier championships and bowl games to deal with this week while gamers will see Minecraft on the PS3 and the first episode for the second season of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead. Check after the break for our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and gaming.

This week's Blu-ray movie release list has several highlights, but fans of the Fast & Furious movies should look out for the sixth movie as it arrives just days after the sudden death of star Paul Walker. On TV we're looking at a slew of midseason finales, mixed in with a few season finales including Sons of Anarchy and Homeland. On disc we also have the 50th Anniversary release of Mary Poppins and Despicable Me 2, and streaming viewers can check out the second season of one of Netflix's first original series, Lilyhammer. Sure, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are here, but this week's big game release is for the PS3. Gran Turismo 6 arrives Friday, while the latest iteration of the racing franchise will feature over 1,200 cars (including a moon buggy, because why not?) and all the tracks of its predecessor (Forza 5 -- we're talking to you). College football fans can look forward to a slew of championship football games this weekend leading up to the big bowl selection reveal Sunday night. On Blu-ray we're looking forward to The Wolverine, and the long-awaited Blu-ray release of EuroTrip. Look after the break for our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and gaming.

Whew. Now that the new game consoles are here, we can finally relax a bit. This week the only gaming releases of note for the systems are flOw and Escape Plan making the jump from PS3 / PS Vita to the PS4. Meanwhile, Breaking Bad is gone but not forgotten and this week you can pick up either the complete series or just the last season, depending on what you have already and whether or not you can live without the sweet collector's edition case. Last week it was the PS4's turn, and this week the Xbox One ships for eager gamers, bringing along its own slew of titles including exclusives like Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse and Killer Instinct. We'll have our review of Microsoft's new box tomorrow, but another major highlight this weekend is a Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special. The Day of the Doctor will air at 2:50PM ET on BBC America, simultaneous with other broadcasts around the world. Also key for Whovians is the Adventure in Space & Time film that will air Friday night, looking back at the beginning of the phenomenon, and The Night of The Doctor mini-episode -- the film's trailer and the entire mini-ep can be found after the break. Amazon will premiere the first three episodes of its second original series, Betas, on Friday morning, and on Blu-ray we're looking forward to Star Trek:TNG season five, Aubrey Plaza in The To Do List and Lilyhammer season one arriving ahead of its season two Netflix debut. Race fans should also keep an eye out, as the Formula 1 series wraps up its season in Brazil Sunday morning. It's finally here. Sony's PlayStation 4 arrives this week, and brings along a bountiful lineup of launch titles. Killzone: Shadow Fall, Resogun, Warframe and many more (you can already find some of the 22 titles and accessories on shelves) are arriving as we jump into next-gen gaming. On TV, JJ Abrams' new series Almost Human debuts on Fox Sunday night, adding a robot and some Blade Runner / I, Robot -style futuristic flair to the traditional buddy cop show format. Hulu and Amazon also have new series hitting streams this week with The Wrong Mans and Alpha House popping on their respective services. Finally, on Blu-ray we've got Akira (25th Anniversary Edition) -- with the original 192Khz Japanese audio -- CNN's Blackfish documentary, and Man of Steel. This week's highlight release is Call of Duty: Ghosts, bringing the fast-paced shooter back for another go-round just before it's released on next-gen consoles (check out Joystiq's impressions across the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4 here). Thanks to the upgrade programs however, even early adopters can try it out on the Xbox 360 and PS3, then swap for a PS4 / Xbox One copy once those are available for an additional $10. Another option is tonight's retrospective on the UFC aired by Fox Sports 1, while a number of complete series boxed sets (Dexter, Doctor Who, Twilight) arrive on Blu-ray. Pixar's latest flick Monsters University hits Blu-ray, while Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag arrive on current gen consoles. Fox's Animation Domination is also back on Saturday night, and Scandal's Kerry Washington is hosting SNL. This week the MLB's fall classic kicks off as the Red Sox face the Cardinals. If you're not a baseball fan there's still other things to look forward to, with plenty of horror-related Blu-ray releases and the requisite cheesy Syfy movie arriving in time for Halloween. The Nerdist himself Chris Hardwick is also a highlight, as he adds a new late night show on Comedy Central called @midnight to his usual Talking AMC duties. Pacific Rim is finally coming home on Blu-ray and in 3D, complete with a special effects showcase ready to give your A/V system a proper workout. Directed by Guillermo del Toro it's visually one of the most impressive movies we've ever seen, and is accompanied this week by the release of Weird Science and Orson Welles' The Stranger. Otherwise, Netflix makes a dip into stand-up comedy with a new series and special from Russell Peters available for streaming, while the MLB playoffs rage on with the AL and NL championship series. As the MLB playoffs continue to ratchet up the intensity, we'll also keep an eye on all of the new fall shows to see which ones die off first (ABC's Lucky 7 has the award for first new show cancelled). Appropriately, this weekend also marks the return of AMC's The Walking Dead and its Talking Dead aftershow counterpart. Sony has a major videogame release for us with Beyond: Two Souls, while on Blu-ray we're looking forward to classics like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. As we begin to experience the post-Breaking Bad era, there are a few other options to check out on TV this week, including the start of Major League Baseball playoff games. That said, the series finale was good enough that we wouldn't argue if you just kept replaying it every night this week. It's fall premiere season, so new shows continue to arrive including CBS' We Are Men and The Millers as well as NBC's Ironside, Welcome to the Family and Sean Saves the World. Low Winter Sun wraps up its premiere season, along with finales for Hell on Wheels and The Bridge. Blu-ray and videogame highlights include NBA 2K14 for current-gen systems, The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary Edition and This Is the End. The biggest name that's not on our list? GTA V's online features, which will debut tomorrow. Look after the break for our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and gaming.

It's all coming to an end this week. AMC will air the final 75-minute episode of Breaking Bad on Sunday night, and we can't wait to see it. While that show wraps up it's run, there are several new entries on the schedule including Hostages, The Blacklist, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Michael J. Fox Show, Stephen Merchant's Hello Ladies and more. Old favorites returning with new seasons this week are How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, Castle, Homeland and many others while Iron Man 3 arrives on Blu-ray. Breaking Bad's penultimate episode is also on Sunday night, while other shows including Under the Dome and Million Second Quiz are packing it in for the fall. Monday Night Football is back and there's a massive Texas A&M vs. Alabama college football game, but that's far from the only thing on TV this week. Star Trek Into Darkness highlights the Blu-ray releases but Trek fans beware: The Digital Bits warns Paramount has spread the extras as exclusives across retailers, meaning things like a commentary might not be on your version. We'd advise skipping it entirely until a proper release arrives with all the extras in tow. One other show we're keeping an eye out for tonight is NBC's The Million Second Quiz. It's a 24/7 trivia show that ties in with mobile apps on Android and iOS to let viewers at home play along with the live broadcast and perhaps even get on the show. This week we also have the series finale for Burn Notice, season finale for The Newsroom, the premiere of Ricky Gervais' Derek on Netflix and the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy. This week, viewers can take their pick of big events coming to TV screens: the NFL is back, Futurama is going away for good, The League and Always Sunny are launching on a new cable network, Diablo III is arriving on consoles and Ace Ventura is out on Blu-ray. There's also the Blu-ray release of Sharknado and Luther's entire third series is airing on BBC America this week. Fans of Matt Groening's animated series will want to check out the Comedy Central website for a half hour before and after Futurama airs Wednesday to chat with the people who made it all possible. Summer may not be officially over, but as preseason football rolls in, many of our warm-weather TV shows are heading out. While we wait for the next Grand Theft Auto epic, Saints Row IV arrives on consoles ready to spoof gaming culture in the way that only this series can, along with Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Divekick. Finally, Thursday night keep an eye out for a re-air of Sharknado on Syfy, followed by the next shark movie it could crank out quickly -- Ghost Shark (trailer after the break).
