Sure, it may feel like kind of a shameless cash grab, and much of the song choice is questionable at best, but unless you've got posters of Dick Trickle or Rusty Wallace hanging on your wall, it appears to be the best thing out this week. More after the jump.%Gallery-3887%

As fans of the 2K football series from way back, we had to feature the company's return to the gridiron, All Pro Football 2K8. Though we can't shake the feeling that we're watching the 18th season of a TV show where the real stars have been replaced by James Brolin and Dana Delany, if there's a competitor that's going to push Madden from "passable" to "great", we're all for it. Check out a trailer after the jump.

Wow, this is a tough week for video games. Think about this though: If Project Sylpheed wasn't coming out, this could have ended up as "New games this week: Smash Court Tennis 3 edition". Yikes. If you're astoundingly bored or a glutton for punishment, there's sort of more after the break.

Yikes. The loving was so good last week that we almost forgot that this was still summer. Thankfully, this week has jumped up and slapped us in the jaw to remind us. Ninja Gaiden Sigma seems to be the easy pick this week, unless you've played it so many times by now that you're sick of it. In that case, it may be time to invest in a book of some sort, or take up yachting for a week. There's (a little bit) more after the break. %Gallery-4470%

It's a hefty week for late June, not that you're going to hear us complaining. There are a lot of new games to be excited about this week, but we think that The Darkness looks like the pick of the litter (thought we'll be the first to admit we had a lot of fun with that Overlord demo). What are you planning on picking up?%Gallery-2283%

This week's new batch of games marks the release of DiRT, once headlined by Scottish racer Colin McRae until he was deemed less popular than dirt for the US release. Those looking for something a little creepier may be happy to know that everyone's favorite smokey-voiced merchant has returned for the now-thrice-released Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. Otherwise, there's a rather nasty drought of new-gen games this week, though PC and portable consoles have plenty to play until next Tuesday. You can commence reading the release list starting .... wait for it ... now.%Gallery-4072%

Sure to be an ironic favorite of Joseph Merrick, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree is set to reach the U.S. this week. If you're anything like us, you're also excited about the Crash Bandicoot Action Pack, or, at least, you were until you realized it consisted of Crash Tag Team Racing, Crash Twinsanity and Crash Nitro Kart. Isn't that like releasing Meatloaf's Greatest Hits with just an endless loop of "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are" and a puppy getting kicked down some stairs? You might find something you like more right after the jump.Nintendo Wii: Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree Scarface Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer The Sims 2: Pets %Gallery-3847%

It's weird isn't it? It's like seeing an old flame that you heard got fat so you forget about them, only to find out that they're apparently hot again. Also we're not sure if we're talking about a Tomb Raider game being the top release or the fact that it's on PS2.The whole week is weird like that. Let's get to it. Another week, another batch of games to steal your time and money in exchange for a few moments of fun. We love it. The big news comes from two magic words under the PC release list: Halo 2. After several delays, including the most recent one involving nudity, Vista owners can finally get their Halo on. Adventure gamers also have something to celebrate this week, as Secrets of Atlantis is hitting the PC in just a few days. Finally, Surf's Up is ready to make a huge splash, drenching every console with its fishy movie tie-in stench. Read on for a few dozen other excuses to play hooky.%Gallery-3486%

For a group so well-known for dividing things (loot, Elizabeth and Will, etc.), pirates are certainly doing a lot of uniting this week. Namely, they're uniting every system on the planet with a copy of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. We were jonesing to insert a Smash Mouth lyrical pun like "I saw this game, now I'm a believer" or "Hey Shrek, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play," but we couldn't decide on just one. So instead, we'll just say that if you enjoy the film Shrek the Third, you can now buy a game that's also called Shrek the Third.Xbox 360: Shrek the Third %Gallery-3110%

Though it's been years in the making, this Friday, the brand synergy that began with adopting the Spider-Man font for the PlayStation 3 will reach its inevitable -- and glorious -- conclusion: Spider-Man 3 comes out in theaters, and every video game system known to man (except PSP, they've got to wait), including ... the PlayStation 3. So, there it is above, replete with identical 3s, the Spider-Man 3 Collector's Edition for PS3. Oh, did we mention that the PS3 is the only console getting a "Collector's Edition" with the ability to play as the New Goblin with Sixaxis controls? Can't you feel the synergy? The rest of the week's new games are after the break ... %Gallery-2871%
