Engadget Live's final stop this year is in New York City tonight!
After stops in Boston, LA and Austin the Engadget Live tour is coming to a close for 2015. Before we park the party bus for the year, we're making one last stop tonight: New York City. Join us at the Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn starting at 7PM to hang with your fellow tech junkies and some of the companies you know and love. Ford will be showing off its SYNC 3 system and the new 2016 Ford Escape. And if you're 21 or over, Drizly will mix you up a cocktail -- so long as you're one of the first 250 folks to arrive. Tickets are still available (and they're free), so if you're in NYC stop by and join us!
We're having reader meetups tonight in NYC and San Francisco!
You know us, we like to hang out with you, the readers, every chance we get. So let's make that happen tonight in New York City, at the Barcade in Manhattan's East Village, and in San Francisco at the Public House. All you need to do is bring cash for drinks, food and any arcade games you'd like to play. Oh, and we'll have plenty of time for ugly-selfie contests, because why not. Engadget + gdgt Live is happening in NYC on June 24th, come join us!
What's better than an Engadget reader meetup? An Engadget and gdgt reader meetup! That's right, folks, Engadget + gdgt Live is a mere five days away, and you can (and should) come join us. Doors open on June 24 at 6pm at 82Mercer in Manhattan (the physical address is 76 Mercer Street). The best part: tickets are free and you can get 'em right here. Those who come out will get to kick it in mobile lounges packed with the latest tech from from Samsung and Sony. And, we'll have many more companies showing off their wares, including Qualcomm, Toshiba, Slingbox and Goji, the smart lock company that won our Startup Contest. Plus, there will be on-stage chats with Sony about 4K, Samsung about its Galaxy devices and an editors roundtable with journalists from around the web talking the latest tech news. We'll also be giving away tons of gear, but you'll have to attend to find out how to grab the schwag for yourself -- rest assured, it'll be worth your while. If free stuff won't entice you (unlikely, we know), then the prospect of an evening with a gaggle of Engadget editors and thousands of other like-minded gadget-geeks should do the trick. Still not enough? We'll be capping off the night with live musical performances presented by IK Multimedia featuring Sound of Contact with Simon Collins (son of Phil Collins) and Vernon Reid (Living Colour founder and guitarist). Oh, and they'll also be hanging out in the IK Multimedia booth during the show along with some potential mystery guests. So, come on out, folks! You'll be glad you did.

Panasonic GF2 crashes the Engadget reader meetup, collects a gallery of memories / sample images
Our reader meetup this past Friday in San Francisco was infiltrated by a somewhat unusual assailant, Panasonic's GF2 Micro Four Thirds shooter. Sporting a new, significantly thinner, pancake lens primed at 14mm with a maximum F2.5 aperture, this eminently portable camera managed to sneak into the building while concealed inside one of our editors' jacket pockets. As we've said before, the major difference between the GF2 and the GF1 for us is that the new model really feels like a compact point-and-shoot, to the point of making us forget that it has a DSLR-sized sensor within it. We've put together the following galleries, which were mostly shot in the fully automatic mode, to give you a taste of how Panasonic's latest handles the challenges of a poorly lit nighttime scene, on the one hand, and a gorgeous sunny day, on the other. Engadget Japan meetup wrap-up and farewell Japan!
So there are ways to wrap up trips and there are ways to wrap... up... trips. After four weeks of Engadget souls roaming the trains of Tokyo for TGS and CEATEC, we finally closed things out with a massive reader meetup with Engadget Japan. About 500 rabid (but very friendly) Engadget Japan fans lined up in Roppongi to meet the editors and see some mind-boggling, sometimes hysterical, and always interesting presentations. Thanks to Maywa Denki for his artistic impressions of Engadget readers (and the amazing Otamatone musical...thing). Also big ups to Samo Dengi (composer of music for Tekken), Cerevo, Acer, Microsoft, and Sony. But most of all, thanks to our amazing readers world-round, and thank you Japan! Engadget reader meetup in Tokyo!
If you're in the vicinity of Tokyo, Japan on October 15th, you're going to want to read this. Our compatriots at Engadget Japanese are having a reader meetup! There will be music (with a performance by Mawya Denki as well as Sano Dengi / sanodg of DS-10 fame) and free food, plus you'll get to hang with the way cool editors of our Japanese site. Believe us, you want to attend. There will also be live product demos by Microsoft, Sony, Acer, Sanyo, Nikon and a Q&A with the editors. Did we mention the giveaways? No? Oh yeah, giveaways! Thanks to Atlanta for the great reader meetup
We were really happy to see how many people showed up to our meetup in Atlanta during CEDIA -- especially when everyone didn't leave immediately after they enjoyed the free food. The local Georgia Tech chapter of the Association of Computer Machinery were awesome hosts and did an impressive job at organizing the event -- something we doubt we could've pulled off when we were in college. We also wanted to really extend our appreciate to everyone who participated including ZAGG who crashed the event with free headphones and gift cards -- and to think when we crash parties we usually don't bring anything.
