Rockstar's multiplayer games apparently had a banner holiday, and the company is using that as an excuse to hand out goodies to players (and, conveniently, give them a reason to keep playing). GTA Online gamers will get $1 million in virtual currency if they play before February 5th, and can receive another $1 million more if they sign on between February 6th and February 12th. Red Dead Online players, meanwhile, can pick up a "Gunslinger's Cache" with guns and ammo by February 3rd, or a "Bounty Hunter's Kit" (with a license and gear) between February 4th and February 10th.

Red Dead Redemption 2's PC launch drew a number of complaints, not the least of which was having to use yet another publisher-specific launcher to play it. If you haven't already bought the game, though, you won't have to deal with that hassle. Rockstar has revealed that its open-world Western will be available through Steam on December 5th. You can play where most of your existing game library already resides.

Several months after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar is ready to offer the soundtrack for its Western opus. The official album from Lakeshore Records will reach digital services on July 12th and includes its fair share of star power -- as you might have guessed from playing the game itself. It's produced by Daniel Lanois (who's worked with Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel and U2, among others) and includes music by himself as well as D'Angelo, Rocco DeLuca, Rhihannon Giddens, Josh Homme and Willie Nelson.

Now that Red Dead Online has had several months to build an audience, how is it faring? Quite well, apparently. During an earnings call, Take-Two chief Strauss Zelnick stated that the Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer component was "performing better" than GTA Online was at a similarly early point in its history. He didn't elaborate on the criteria (users? Money generated?), but it's a good sign for the company when GTA Online is still considered the cash cow.
